Help to control folliculitis

This worked better for me than my Dermatologist
Firstly, I’ve been seeing a dermatologist for 2 yrs and he keeps sending me home with ketoconazole shampoo, on prescription and I’ve had no relief from the itching and bumps on my head. In one of the auto immune groups I’m in, there were discussions about itchy scalps with little bumps that would turn scabby. You get bumps, you itch, they bleed and repeat. A few had talked about this shampoo and how it had worked great for folliculitis which is what I thought I had and was sure this Dermatologist was wrong. Now if your a Brit over here in the US and ever used TCP, then this is that same smell, I actually love it, but oh good god it stinks of antiseptic. I have long thick hair so I use maybe a quarter size dollop, in two goes. Don’t have the shower on hot, luke warm is great and get your hair thoroughly wet. Dry off your hands on a wash cloth or you’ll lose that shampoo when you pour some into your palm and then rub your hands together to make a kind of white, creamy kind of looking shampoo, then shampoo that into your scalp, just as you would normal shampoo only without the coconut or jasmine notes. Repeat again if you have longish thick hair. Turn your shower up and wait for it says a minute, but I do two, due to its thickness. Turn your water down to luke warm and rinse well. You’ll need a conditioner on those ends as this isn’t very nourishing. I don’t typically dry with a hair dryer, but I did notice the time I did, the smell dissipated more, but it was still there, those slight undertones of TCP. I noticed relief after the first try and now I use it once a week. I’ve booked an appointment with a new dermatologist and will take the shampoo with me and make sure I have made the right diagnosis but I think I did, Because I don’t have a single itch or bump after three weeks of use.

Smells Terrible, Works Great
If head and shoulders / Nizoral has not been working for you, try this. It isn’t a one stop solution, but it has helped my scalp tremendously after 10 days of consistent use. What I love most about it: soothes scalp, reduces scalp acne, and doesn’t strip my hair (Long 2B/C - Low Porosity). My two big issues: painfully weak lather, and hotel sample size packaging. I’m actually mad that this works because of the pricing / sizing- but a win is a win. After 4 years of looking for solutions. I’ve finally found it. FYI, the smaller bottle last about 10-12 days, so expect to buy 3 bottles per month. Don’t skimp on using the shampoo- more is more. I’m trying out the larger bottle now, and will update with how long it lasts. To get the most out of this shampoo: (1) more is more, don’t skimp on how much you use, (2) lather in your hands before applying to scalp, (3) massage into your scalp from the front and back of your neck- keep your hands close to your scalp. Don’t use the tips of your fingers like you’re scratching- it ruins the lather. (4) Don’t neglect the crown of your head. Mind you, this works great because I use this in combination with a few other things. Quick context- My hair goals are: growing out my hair (going for the beard / man bun combo), encouraging hair growth / reduce shedding, soothing my scalp issues / deep cleansing, and strengthening my hair. This product, Nizoral, Witch Hazel (alcohol free- yes, it exists), + more consistent washing all help with my scalp. I wash with this shampoo at least 3 times a week. Alternating with a different shampoo for other wash days depending on my mood / vibes (Dr. ForHair, Nizoral, or Head + Shoulders). Sometimes I’ll double wash and use Nizoral or Head + Shoulders after this shampoo. Then I drench my scalp / hair in Witch Hazel, and put in my leave in conditioner. I’ve realized I need to wash / rinse my scalp more frequently (pretty much daily), and need to be cautious about letting leave-in productive get too close to my scalp (avoiding build up / irritation). Overall, love that it works (so far), but I’m disappointed with the size / price. Once I find a more affordable alternative (with better spread/suds) I’m switching asap.

Did Not help condition
Was told this helped for folliculitis, it did nothing for me, maybe even a bit worse. Expensive lesson to learn.

Cleaned the pores
Originally thought the lumps on my head were due to stress. After researching I concluded it was a fairly common condition due to trapped oil on scalp . I bought this product due the reviews. Wow! It works. First use I noticed a small but positive difference in my scalp and dry itchy head. Now, after3 shampoos I am a happy camper. Worth the cash
