A must if you’re looking for a unique field watch
I have a number of Seiko watches, but this SRPD31K1 by far has been one of the most captivating watches that I have owned. It’s simply a work of art. I had been researching it for quite a while before finally deciding to buy it and this was the best decision I could have made. It’s one of those rare watches that you cannot stop looking at. From the details on the dial, the dome of the crystal, the polished case, the engineered finish, it’s just a really beautiful watch. The compass feature is something I never thought much about, until seeing it in person and seeing the craftsmanship used in its implementation. It’s automatic and has ability to hack. This watch is worth every penny. The only downside, as many have warned was the strap. It is horrific, but don’t let that impact your decision. I normally change out my watch straps anyway to complete my vision for the watch. Thus, it was quickly paired with a black PBCODE Premium Seat Belt Watch Strap. I have a smaller wrist (6.5 inches) and the watch fits perfectly. Not too big and not too small. I would definitely recommend it.

A Superb Value At Twice the Price
I collect watches; I own over sixty pieces. These range from a 1947 ( my birth year) Bulova tank watch, some fifties and sixties Bulova automatics, a Longines Admiral, my father's 1952 Omega Seamaster calendar, a Rolex steel Datejust that I bought new in 1972 for $178.00, several Viet Nam war-era Seiko chronographs, over a dozen assorted original Bulova Accutrons, and many more. I look for a style, a feature set, an unusual detail; something special that makes me want to buy yet ANOTHER watch. The SRPD31K1 fits those criteria in spades. A very handsome dial that's highly readable and clear, a rugged-looking but not overly brutish case design and what promises to be a stellar twenty-four jewel automatic movement. The finishing and detail work is excellent and though it measures 43mm wide, it wears very comfortably on my smallish wrist. I would have paid more, but the very reasonable price makes ownership even more pleasurable. Highly recommended.

Great watch with a good price for an automatic.
Really good watch. This was my first stem into an automatic and like the movable compass around the bezel. It didn’t weigh as much as I thought it would and is comfortable the wear all day. I didn’t like the strap at first and it was pretty stiff out of the box. I wore it pretty regularly for the first week and it softened up pretty quick. A month later it’s really soft and loosened up. The time keeping is great the second hand is hackable. I and wind it every night, partially due to me not knowing how much it needs to be wound to keep accurate time and the other because if you don’t wear it every day the and don’t wind it is looses time pretty quick. But that is my learning curve. Really like it. And it will definitely be one of my forever watches. Took off a star due to how stiff the strap was at first.

Impressive watch.
After owning many watches with Seiko movements, this is my first oficial Seiko watch. What a beautiful dial with stunning attention to details. In a world that depends on digital instruments, is very refreshing to have a simple analog instrument on the wrist.

Very Happy with purchase and shipping
This is a great watch. The strap leaves a little to be desired (as with many Seiko leather straps) but overall I am very happy with the overall fit and finish. Would be a 5 star if the strap was better . Easy enough to fix though. Shipping was several days faster than Amazon originally said . I would buy again or recommend to a friend.
