Pro-Art PA020504 Hard Bound Sketch Book, 11 by 14-Inch, Black (110 Pages)

First off: I love this book. I am a multimedia artist who either uses watercolors or charcoals and pencils. That being said there are pros and cons; Pros: It looks really nice on the outside, it has a texture to it and a black gloss cover. There are a lot of pages. The pages themselves are rather thick, if you use pencils or pastels this will be perfect for you. Cons: The only con I have for it is that the paper is not thick enough to hold water colors, does that stop me from painting in my sketch book? Nope. Unfortunately, that means that my painted pieces often end up rippled or warped. This is only when i use a lot of water. If I use minimal amounts of water it is typically fine but might still have a slight ripple or sometimes (like with the Sailor Moon photo) the paint won't stick, which sucks. I can't complain too much because it clearly is not advertised as a "multi-media sketchbook". This isn't a con for me but it worth noting: this is not travel sized. It takes up my whole lap and is big enough that I will put my laptop on it and use it as a small lap table 😅 the size doesn't bother me and I actually prefer it but, I figured it was worth mentioning. I'll attach pics of what I mean about rippling and such. Don't mind my photos too much, I'm on the messier side of arsty, the cover can easily be wiped down etc.

11"x 14" Pro-Art Hard Bound Sketch Book is very durable with nice quality drawing paper pages. Nice texture to the cover, elegant and strong. I am consistently drawing so I take my sketch books with me everywhere in my shoulder bag/backpack, so it needs to be durable which this one is to be sure. Perfect for my constant drawing needs. Excellent drawing book all around.

I have used many of these sketchbooks over the last few years, and they’re perfect for drawing or writing in. The paper is bright white. The perforation allows each page to be easily and neatly removed. The spiral binding allows the book to be opened flat, or folded around so the covers lie flat against each other. I use a pen that has a clip, and it fits into and clips onto the metal spiral. This sketchbook is a great size to carry around and keep a pen in. My only caution with buying this is that it wasn’t packed well. Our nearest warehouse is only a few miles away, and when I pulled it out of the envelope it was shipped in, the back cover was bent pretty badly. I’m not too fussy because I bought it for myself, but if it were a gift, I’d have had to go through the hassle of replacing it. I bent it flat again and fixed the somewhat crushed wire spiral. Not pretty but it works. I just thought you should know.

I was surprised by the size of his item. I know I ordered it but until I had in my hands I didn't consider its size. Don't get me wrong im happy with this sketchbook. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the paper on this sketchbook its very good. I would recommend it too anyone.

Paper feels great, it's good for ink and graphite for sure. I have not done any watercolor, gouache or alcohol marker with it since those are not my usual mediums. If you want a big sketchbook though with lots of room, this thing is great. It lays pretty flat and the size just allows you the space to be free versus being stuck in smaller sketchbooks.

It's a really good book, but the paper is pretty average. It does what it's made for, and it is also HUGE!

This is a great sketchbook, if not extremely large. I haven't used it yet, but the paper is thinner and toothless, probably only suited for pencil, pen, and VERY light watercolor, maybe. The paper is very smooth and perfectly white, so if you like tooth, I wouldn't recommend. Other wise, it's very nice! It came perfect, just as pictured. No warping. The front is jet black and dimpled, so if you're like me, and put stickers on the front, they'll go on and come off with no problem. When i use it, I'll update my review.

I bought this to start a visual journal, and it's perfect. It's a nice size, and you can slip a pen and pencil in the spiral for portability. At first, I was sad that it would only be 80 sheets, but that's actually a lot. It's about an inch thick, if that helps. This journal is very good for its price.

Paper bit smaller than stated, which was the cover size. But does the job.

I love the size of this sketch book and it lays flat on my desk with ease. The paper is smooth and ideal for all your pencil sketching needs of which I keep one for that sole purpose. The second one I have used with mixed mediums. The paper doesn't really like too much water but with adding various papers (aka decoupage) it does hold up. There is some waving to pages but I don't mind that as the purpose is for me to experiment and have them all in one place.

genuinely pleasantly surprised. nice glossy cover, stippled texture, sharp edges. inside, the paper is a lovely pure 'white~white' ~~~ NOT cream, as with other brands ~~~ & a very light 'tooth' but not too much {its not pulpy, in other words.} definitely superior to the Canson item i also looked at. would absolutely buy again.
