My husband purchased this for our older cars and truck recently. He doesn't use his truck every day, so he keeps it on the dashboard. It works really well, as our driveway is in a location which gets a bit of sun every day. He will move it from vehicle to vehicle, as he needs it and it has not failed to charge yet!

I got about 3.7W max power with the cell sitting flat on the driveway in Oct in Dallas around 2pm. I did not tilt it to get the optimum angle. Initially the power was about 1W higher but after 30-60 min in the sun the efficiency drops. The panel is rated for 8W if I can get 1/3 to 1/2 of that, I'm happy. I also put it in my van on the dash (again not angled toward the sun). The power dropped again (glass is blocking some of the light, see curves). I guess it could overcharge my battery (lead acid) since my parasitic drain is about 70mA and the cell voltage drops to 15.3V at that current (orange curve), but I doubt it since my new van sometimes will charge at 15.5V for 30-60min, then down to 14.4V for most for the time and sometimes as low as 12-13V. Unlike my older cars where lead acid charging was always around 14.4V. When the cell was on the driveway (blue curve) the cell resistance was about 12ohms in the 100mA to 200mA range if that helps.

I haven't been able to fully test this trickle charger, as we've had overcast rainy weather since a week or so before I got it. However, the installation was easy, the lighter plug option is convenient for my convertible which does not cut 12V to the lighter outlet (which is why I had to replace the battery the first time after leaving it for weeks with a USB charger in it). The problem I have is that I don't drive my convertible often. As a result, I find the battery drops, and a while back it got down under 10V. I could leave it on a plug-in charger but I don't want an unsecured extension cord coming out of my garage. I could replace the battery every spring but where's the fun in that? So a friend suggested I try this charger. In the two days or so since I installed it, my Hum dashboard shows no drop in voltage. So as far as I can tell, it's holding the charge around 12.5V even with overcast skies. When the rain ends, maybe end of next week, I'll see if it brings the line back up.

Purchased this to keep the battery charged on my car trailer and so far no complaints.

I put this in an older 2005 car. You need a cigarette lighter that stays powered when the car is off to use the trickle‑charger plug. If yours doesn’t, it comes with battery clips and plenty of wire to hook it straight to the battery. Very easy to install. I own two — one for my ’99 F250 and one for my ’05 Cherokee — and both work great.

We have been extremely disappointed in the products. It stopped working many months ago, as evidenced by the battery not being kept charged and the indicator lights not lighting up. We have tried many times to get it to work properly without success. BTW - We bought a brand new engine battery because we know these Solar type chargers cannot work miracles on older batteries. Still no success with the new battery. I did a substantial amount of research before deciding to buy this particular solar charger. We thought we had a good one and a good company, but obviously not. I have contacted the company which is in China and have not heard a thing. Disappointing and frustrating.

Bought in September 25. Currently May 26 stopped production power! Help
