Shacke 5 Set Packing Cubes for Travel with Laundry Bag (Precious Pink)

This is the first time that I've ever used travel packing cubes and I wish that I've been using them since I travel sooo much! I took these along for a month long trip that I had outside the US. On the trip I knew that I was going to be in various locations other than the home location that I was staying. Some of the locations were day trips, but there were many that were 2-3 days up to a week so this would be a good test in durability considering they would be on trains, buses, motorcycles, planes and other vehicles. First thing that I will point out is the fact that it is EASY to over pack especially if you are using these cubes and organizing. After you have all the cubes filled and weigh your luggage you realized that you've used up the 50lbs that the airlines let you use per luggage. That being said it is EASY to unpack the cubes and dispense with any "extra" clothes you don't need. Easier than trying to spread out everything you have in the luggage and decide what stays and what goes. After everything is packed you can rest assured that you have everything. This is how I laid out my cube packs: Extra Large- 2 pairs of long khaki pants, 1 pair of jeans, 3 pairs of cargo shorts, 1 regular bath towel Large- 4 polo shirts rolled up, 5 t-shirts rolled up, 1 pair of cargo shorts (yes... i like cargo shorts) Medium- 12 pairs of boxers (so I don't have to do laundry every other day) Small- filled it up with socks (didn't bother to count) Keep this in mind, I'm a guy single guy so I don't need to pack dresses or children's clothes. I'm also a big guy so my clothes aren't exactly small either so the material adds up in weight. With all my clothes packed I was confident that I brought all that I needed with a little more. I think in the years of travel I was more confident that I packed correctly instead of wondering, while sitting in the plane "did I pack boxers?". Other trips I just threw clothes into my luggage and whatever made it into the actual luggage got zipped in with the rest of my needed accessories without any thought. These cubes bring the organization and punch list into play for organization. During my stay these cubes played different rolls as I moved from place to place or activity to activity. I used the medium for day trips or overnight which fit very well in my medium duffle bag or my backpack. I used the small to store some camera supplies that I needed to take with me on a photo shoot and even used the large for some other camera gear that needed for another shoot that I was commissioned to do. Taking them to the beach is a no brainer too. It's nice that they are mesh because if sand gets in them with your spare clothes all you have to do is shake the cubes out until all the offending sand comes out and you're set! I had my towel and some of my other camera gear in these cubes and did not worry one bit with these things. For the price, these things are great! Versatile, light and durable!

These packing cubes are amazing! I could not believe how many outfits I could fit into the largest one. My suitcase was totally organized and I had additional space. They also made unpacking at the hotel a breeze. Whether you are taking a long trip or a weekend getaway, these packing cubes are a game changer!

Normally I am pretty quick with reviews. I either like the product or I don't. I have now had the Shacke Pak for a little over two weeks and have really started to put them through their paces. A little about me. I travel somewhere around 100,000 miles per year. That's over 100 flights, a ton of car rentals, in and out of hotels. I wear luggage out! A computer bag typically lasts me 6 to 9 months. Even really expensive carry-on suitcases and packing cubes wear out after two years. I have been using another very well respected and recognized name (Eagle Creek) for the past 4 years, but they are now reaching the end of their life. So, I started looking for a replacement. I naturally went right for the Eagle Creek, but, saw some reviews on the Shacke Pak and felt like I wanted to give them a try. Because I have had so much experience with travel items, I can tell within a week how a bag or travel item is going to do. My new Shacke Pak……. I have a solid feeling that it is going to be with me a long time! This past week, I took the three smallest cubes with me on a four day trip to the Midwest. I went carry-on, so they were stuffed to limits. I have to say..... they stuff well! Having use packing folders for the past few years, I was not expecting them to hold as much or condense as much as what I could get into my Eagle Creek packing folder. I also was convinced that I would not like the cube as much as the folding pack. I was wrong. They held just as much and they held everything well. The dimensions of each packing cube are just about perfect. There are four cubes in the pack, small, medium, large and extra-large. My carry-on is on the smaller size, so I skipped using the extra-large. In the large, I put in two dress pants, three dress shirts, and a polo. I saved the medium for my laundry as I used clothes (each night in a new hotel means I had to pack laundry into the same bag and I did not want my dirty clothes touching clean clothes). In the small, I put 4 pairs of socks, a t-shirt, four pair of underwear and pair of shorts and a work-out shirt. All fit nice. I tossed the packing cubes in my bag and still had room for my suit coat to lay across the top and my winter jacket shoved in too. All fit! Best part...... wrinkles were minimal. Zippers and stitching are top quality. The mesh 'window' is nice. I like that the 'window' is small and a majority of the bag is the stronger and heavy-duty material. That helps it hold it's shape better in my bag and also makes packing items in the pak easier. I got the black and blue... really like the look. So what does this all really mean? It means if you want advice from someone who has over a million flight miles, a hundred nights in a hotel a year, and who has seen almost every inch of the globe and knows how to pack..... buy these cubes! I am super picky about the organization of my things when I travel. I go carry on (I can go ten days in a carry-on bag) so getting everything I need into a small bag, in a way that I can get to my clothes easily without having to unpack and repack everyday is important to me. I am the person who will spend two weeks moving items from one pocket in a suitcase to another just to maximize space and convenience. I can tell you, I have gone through dozens of suitcases, half a dozen folders and cubes, more than a few dozen briefcases and computer bags.....the Shacke Pak is one of the best investments I have made in travel products. I will be purchasing a set for each member of my team as I know they will appreciate them as much as I do! I have a new name for packing cubes. Shacke Pak. Better quality, better price, and more effective than the other big named cubes and folders. FYI - - I researched the company and the product for many weeks leading up to the purchase..... If you do your homework, you will find the heavy duty travelers (those who really know and use travel products extensively) all have great things to say about the company and the Shacke Pak.

I went back and forth on the idea of packing cubes for a long time and then finally decided to go for it and now I am completely hooked. My family of four recently went on a 12-day trip to London and each of us had our own Samsonite Omni PC and then we shared one larger suitcase for all the extra stuff. I was actually able to match everyone’s suitcase colors to their packing cubes so we all knew exactly where our items were & what case/packing cube belonged to whom. We ended up checking 4 bags & carrying one Omni onboard, which meant 3 of the Omnis could be extended. The packing cubes made it so easy to move items around as needed in order to meet weight regulations. Lighter cubes went into the big case to keep the weight down on that one. Then when we arrived, I just doled out cubes by color. Our master bedroom didn’t have a dresser so all through the trip I was able to keep my belongings well organized in their cubes rather than strewn around the room. I knew exactly what items were in which cube, too, so I didn’t have to dig through everything just to find a pair of socks at the bottom of my suitcase. On the way back, I accidentally had a liquid packed in the wrong place and when security at Heathrow needed to check my bag, it was really nice having everything secured in cubes rather than rolled up. They found the liquid (rogue eyeglass cleaner) and didn’t have to dig through/touch all my personal items to locate it. Also, since we did laundry while there, we had some clean items to bring back. While I generally wash everything after a trip, it was still nice to be able to pack dirties in one cube & clean in another because there were some items that my kids were able to put right back into their drawers. The laundry bag worked well for shoes on the trip over and laundry while there. I didn’t pack the filled laundry bag because it wasn’t space-efficient, but I moved the dirties into their own cube for traveling. Another bonus was that, while in London, I used the smallest cube to carry all the loose items in my backpack. My daypack for travel is a Topo Designs Rover, so I just put all my hand wipes, antibacterial gel, Kleenex, hand lotion, sunscreen, etc. into the small packing cube & put that into my Rover. Then I added my raincoat & other layers & it made adventuring so easy. If we went into someplace where they had to check my pack I could easily pull items out and put them back in. Anyway, that’s a lot of TMI, but I am a complete convert & can’t recommend enough giving packing cubes a try. While I can’t speak to the longevity of these particular cubes, all four sets made it though our trip just fine & we will be using them again next weekend for a short ski trip. I thought this deal for the number of cubes + the laundry bag was well worth it. And all 4 sets can pack together for easy storage, too! If you’re on the fence, I say go for it.

Great way to organize your suitcase.

I don't usually write reviews as soon as I open a product, but in the case of my new Shacke Pak packing cubes, I decided to just go ahead and do it. First impression: I love them! The color is beautiful, they appear to be very well-made, the zippers have cool pull covers on them, the mesh windows are great for seeing what is packed inside, and the little black handle for carrying is a nice touch. These are my first packing cubes, so I have nothing to compare them to, but my husband has been using cubes from eBags for years, and said that my new ones appear equal in quality. Even the literature that came with, is nice and thoughtful. They provide you with a nice sturdy almost-laminated "Quick Start Guide" with tips on how to use your new cubes to pack for 3 days, 5 days, and 10 days. Also they invite you to watch their tutorial videos and an interactive trip planner provided on their website. Very nice, and so rare these days. (I do question their claim that you need to register online, in order to secure your product warranty. I stopped registering for warranties years ago unless it's a major purchase, because I found that it was just an excuse for these companies to get your email address and start sending you spam. According to all legal authorities, you don't have to register for any product warranty to be in effect. I'll take my chances on a $40 purchase!) I realize, however, that they still need to stand the test of time. I read a 1-star review here that said they pretty much died by hand-washing in cold water, and that may be true. But honestly, I see no reason at all to wash them right off the bat. That reviewer said they smelled "plasticky," but I smell nothing at all. Maybe the slightest hint of new plastic smell, but only if you really stick your nose on them and try hard to smell something. And this is coming from someone who is extremely sensitive to scents. I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, and I can smell chemicals a mile away. My 8 new bags are sitting on the floor here, right next to my desk... I can't smell a thing, even though they are only about 2' away from me. Believe me, if I smelled anything obnoxious, they would be going back. So I don't see the need to wash these anytime soon, except maybe the laundry bag after each use (which I didn't even realize I was getting, so thank you!). For years, my husband has been trying to convince me of the virtues of these packing cubes. He travels for business, and I'm always amazed at the small "overhead bin" bag that he brings on week-long trips. Even accounting for sex differences in luggage requirements, it seemed to me that he was traveling unusually "light," but he always attributed it to the great organization he achieves in his packing, via cubes After going away recently for a girls' weekend, I decided that my inefficient packing habits just have to change for my next trip, which is in August. I get to my hotel on Friday afternoon, after packing in what I thought was a thorough and efficient manner. We were slightly rushed because we were starving, and I made an attempt to quickly find another belt to wear, and a change of top. Of course, no matter how organized I think I am, I can never find the one thing I need most, and end up rifling through my entire suitcase to find it... and bye, bye organization! (Not to mention being panic stricken over having left my jacket in the back seat of my husband's SUV when he dropped me off at the hotel with my girlfriend, after picking her up at the airport... which meant that I had to rifle even harder to find an extra layer to wear, once I discovered that). The rest of the weekend, I felt like a total disorganized mess, and I vowed then and there that I'd never travel again without cubes. So I'm really looking forward to my first experience with them. I also purchased one especially made for devices etc. It was so difficult figuring out where I packed all the little cords, my power bank, adaptors... It felt like I spent half the weekend searching for stuff!! So I bought this 4-pack and the "slim" 4 pack in the same color... which should take care of all my packing needs. I debated about the slim ones because some people really disliked how small they are, but I disagree with them. I think these slim ones are just perfect for small items such as bras, panties, hair ties, socks, belts, scarves, bathing suits, slips, nylons, etc. In fact, they came with a list of suggested uses which are spot-on. You could fill one with power bars if you are going on a long plane trip, and keep your family from starving to death if you get stuck on the tarmac. You could use one for sandals and flip flops. I don't find them particularly small, and I'm sure they will come in handy! (Maybe if they were the ONLY ones you bought, they might be too small and a bad purchase. But as a supplement to the larger set, they are just perfect.)

Pros: - Quality build - Excellent zipper quality and durability - Strong seams - Lightweight - Open netting design allows for visibility of contents and easy compression - Attractive but simple colors and design - Comfortable zipper pulls - Comes with sack to carry all the packing cubes and can alternatively be used as a travel laundry bag - 4 packing cubes for the price of many competitors offering 3 - Excellent customer service Cons: - Nothing major at the moment, but I am starting to notice after a few months of use that some of the seams appear to be stretching a little too far and am concerned that it may tear after a while - The plastic spring cord lock used on the sack that carries all the packing cubes (I used the sack as a "dirty laundry bag") broke after a month Personal Experience: Ask me a year ago whether I would ever have packing cubes and I would have scoffed at you and declared that it was illogical to try to save packing space by using packing cubes that forced the cube shape. Now...I'm a believer!! Packing cubes have changed the way I packed forever. Not only does it organize everything I pack (underwear, socks, pajamas go in one; shirts and pants go in another, etc), it allows me to pack 2-3 times more than I used to be able to because you are able to squeeze everything into a packing cube and then zip it up. Packing cubes don't add any appreciable weight to your luggage because they are so lightweight anyway. And for longer trips, I simply take out my packing cubes from my duffel bag/suitcase and they serve as drawers for all my travel items. In terms of Shacke Pak specifically, I referenced in my "Pros" why I think Shacke Pak is generally superior to other brands. In particular, I received one packing cube that had an issue with the zipper that resulted in the zipper handle breaking pre-maturely. I contacted Shacke Pak and customer service immediately sent me a replacement packing cube without any hassle. I am very pleased with the customer service and it has given me some measure of confidence that they will continue to take care of their customers in the future. **Update: I also own two sets of eBags packing cubes (you can read my other reviews) and have had the opportunity to compare them directly to Shacke Pak. In all honesty, both brands make exceptional packing cubes and you really wouldn't be disappointed either way. But to be nit picky, I will share a few of my observations: - Shacke Pak uses a material with a matte finish compared to the more shiny honeycomb design of eBags. The Shacke Pak material stretches ever so slightly, whereas the eBags material has very little give. As a result, it appears that the material eBags uses is slightly more durable, but Shacke Pak looks slightly more premium. - Shacke Pak uses hidden stitching beneath the zippers, whereas eBags uses a double stitched design in most places. After owning the Shacke Pak packing cubes for about a year, I am noticing that the hidden stitching under the zipper pulls a little more and actually becomes visible when I pack the cubes tightly. This concerns me slightly and makes me question the long term durability whereas eBags' double stitched design seems to hold strong regardless of how tightly I pack the cubes. - The depth of Shacke Pak packing cubes is .75" to 1" more, so you can pack more. - The zipper pull handle (not the zipper itself) on one of my packing cubes from Shacke Pak fell off after one month. I contacted Shacke Pak and they immediately sent me an entire new packing cube. Shacke Pak demonstrated excellent customer service, but at the same time I am a little concerned that something like that happened so quickly in the first place. Since then, I have had no issues with my two sets of packing cubes from Shacke Pak. I have had no issues with eBags in terms of the zippers or zipper handles in the 6 months that I have owned them. - Shacke Pak packing cubes gives you 4 for the price of approximately 3 from eBags. Also, Shacke Pak includes a pouch with the packing cubes that can be conveniently used as a dirty laundry bag when you're travelling. You seem to get a little more for your money with Shacke Pak. - Zipper quality for both is excellent, as they both use YKK zippers. - Overall: You can't go wrong with either and each brand has slight advantages over the other in a few areas. I personally think eBags is slightly more durable, but that Shacke Pak is slightly more attractive and gives you a little more for your money. Conclusion: If you are looking for a high quality and durable set of packing cubes for travelling, you really can't go wrong with the Shacke Pak set. The price is reasonable and you get 4 packing cubes for the price of what most competitors charge for 3. I have not had any real issues with quality or durability (I travel and use these a lot, but I will update my review in the future), and Shacke Pak has already demonstrated to me that they have excellent customer service. I also think the Shacke Pak packing cube set provides one of the most stylish designs compared to the others out there. **I have included a picture of one my packing cubes when it is packed tightly showing what I mean about the hidden stitching being stretched and visible. This concerns me a bit.

I purchased 2 sets of these packing cubes because my family is selling our house and going to travel full time for a little while. My goal is to keep everything organized and I initially thought I was going to be needing 2 of the XL cubes (1 of which comes in a set). However once I opened the packs, and started packing the XL cube, I realized just how much you can actually fit in that thing, and it gets heavy very quickly. I first purchased OlarHike 6 set of packing cubes. When trying to open one of the cubes, the zipper just didn't want to slide. Not a promising start before it's packed with anything. I returned them, in hopes these cubes were slightly better quality for 1 less cube in the pack. And WOW! The zippers on these things are wonderful!! I have REI brand packing cubes from ages ago and the zippers on this set rival that of the REI brand, I'm so impressed. They're beefy and seem like they will hold up over time and use. I already have quite a few of them packed and it's getting me excited to hit the road! I purchased the light blue color and it's so pretty. Maybe not quite as bright as pictured, but I like the color a lot. The construction is great, the seams looks sturdy and everything looks reinforced. Once packed, the zippers glide closed. The sizes are a good variety, and when I tell you the biggest cube of the lot is big, it's HUGE. I fit 15 pair of shorts (maybe more, I wasn't counting) and just as many tshirts, with room to spare. I may not even end up using that particular cube, because like I said it gets heavy quickly. And I'm trying to downsize not being my entire wardrobe with me. The little laundry bag that comes with is of really high quality material, very durable. Too small for my needs, but I'll be using it for my son's travel toy bin. Keep in mind, these are NOT compression packing cubes. You can fit a lot in them, probably pack them full and not bust the seams. But they do not have a second zipper for compression. What else can I say about these cubes, they're great, and you can't beat the quality and variety for the price. 11/10 would recommend!!

Unfortunately (and it's not advertised, so I'm not complaining!) these don't compress the clothes at all, but they do help to organise them and in that way you save space. I would suggest getting different colours for each people and sorting out your luggage that way. Love the addition of the laundry bag!

Makes packing really easy and keeps your clothes and accessories neat inside your travel bag. I love having the different sizes so I can organize my things (shirts/pants in the biggest one, underwear/bathing suits/socks in a smaller one, and accessories like makeup, toothpaste, or charging cords, etc. in another one. I also like that it came with a separate bag for dirty laundry, that I can just dump into the laundry machine when I get home. Makes traveling easier and more organized. Quality seems decent - zippers are intact and no tears or anything after a few different trips.
