Good quality, thick metal box and grill bars, Pilot Rock adds to your home or cabin
This is my second Pilot Rock grill and I love them both. There are several brands out there but look at the thickness of the metal box and bars if you want this to last as long as the ones in the parks last. My first was the more expensive one that currently goes for $189 which I got in 2014 for my backyard at my house (Michigan winters) and it’s holding up well but I keep a small grill cover on it when not using. When I got that one the price was much lower. I recently got a cabin, also in Michigan and wanted one there, we were using one of those little round portable grills, so I bought this one in 2020 and it’s doing the job for us paid $139. The first one I bought has a slightly bigger cooking area but this one holds a package of hotdogs and a pack of stadium brats at the same time and that takes care of the kids and grandkids. I like the charcoal park grills for that kind of cooking, the gas grills are fine for chicken or steaks but for burgers, dogs, and brats I prefer charcoal (my opinion) and this type of grill makes even a novice become the family hero and the envy of the neighbors. This park grill adds a certain character to your place. Put it near your bonfire burning circle and cook some dogs and s’mores while you’re there. They’re not hard to install in the ground, use a post hole digger, a couple bags of quick set cement and a level to keep the pipe straight (plumb). It’s easier if two people do it one holding the pipe and level one adding cement. Let the pipe set overnight in cement, put the heavy box on it the next day. Do a couple of burn ins without food to burn off any oil or paint, then start using. It comes with a locking pin so grill thief’s can’t walk off with it, but both of mine are in a fenced in yard so I didn’t put in the pin and young vandals can’t lift the box at around 50 pounds. In winter if you don’t put in the pin you can lift it off the pipe and store it in the garage if you want or just keep a small grill cover on it. Grill on my friends, these last for years.

Grill
Nice sturdy convenient grill. Works well for just throwing on burgers and hotdogs. Anything more and I'd use a covered grill. We enjoy it

Built for your grandchildren's children!
Outstanding construction. Just a seriously beefy product that will outlast you. I toyed with adding a cover but now that is installed I realize that this grill will eventually rust out....maybe in the year 2050! One small nit. The height after install seemed short according to the included plans. This is known upfront when you order the product so I can't take away any stars. What I did was drop by the local metal fabricator and found a matching pipe. I put that pipe in concrete first increasing the overall height of the grill (I'm old and don't like to bend). Overall thoroughly pleased with this product and highly recommend. Oh, a suggestion. Since it is beefy, use plenty of concrete especially if going higher like I did. We used 3x50 pound bags of concrete.

Misleading dimensions but overall good for the price except paint.
I gave it 4 out of 5 because the paint was chipping off in my hands as I unpacked it. Overruns, shipping vibrations warn through paint. In the pics I added the red is where there was bare metal or excessive overruns. It saw all over but couldn't upload more pics. I could peel the paint off with my nails in most parts of the burn box. The black coating on the stand pipe was very thin and in some parts non covering. I understand its a burn box, not show room paint. But at least cover and get the paint to stick! The dimensions are misleading. The description is for the shipping package not the unit. The burn box is 16 W - 14 D - 10 L. The description said Package size not unit size. Measurements are rounded to closest inch. The Pros. Thick metal. Not as thick as a $350 and up unit models. But adequate. The 2 stand tubes are steel 1/8" thick. super heavy. Welds are super clean and strong. Made to drain water. Cooking area can hold 9 quarter pounders or 12 homemade burgers tightly. Cons The space between each bar of the food grate is wide enough to let small cheap hot dogs to drop between the bars. Inadequate paint. Will have to spend more money and time repainting with High temp heat paint to keep it from rusting out. Conclusion I would recommend for a low budget grill that cost point = quality level. Super fast shipping. I received it in just under 4 days

Perfect Grill
This park grill is awesome. We have 3 and they are very sturdy. Easy to assemble and easy to clean. It is your typical campground bbq pit but nicer! Highly recommend-oh and manufacturer is wonderful to deal with if you need parts etc.

My son loves this thing!
I bought it as a companion piece for our electric smoker so we could add a bit of char to our smoked meats, but my son loves it too much! We haven't used the smoker since we got the grill. :( I can't complain though, because everything he has grilled on it has come out so delicious. So far, we have done skirt steak, hamburgers, sausages, hotdogs, and chicken. If you have an electric smoker but miss tending a grill, then get one of these. Honestly, it's simple, it's sturdy, and is just the perfect grill.
