Favorite Product
This is my favorite product from Aveda! I used to use this a few years back and then went blonde. Now I’m back to a darker color and was having all the warm, brassy tones comes through and hated it. This product takes all the warm tones away, makes your hair feel so soft and smells amazing. The only negative is that it will stain your shower if you don’t rinse it off almost immediately. I attached a picture to show the difference but it is much more noticeable in person. This is after one use. It will continue to get darker with more uses.

Cancelled out Henna Orange and Blended the way to my new Gray transition
This may help henna users and those who are transitioning to their natural brown/gray hair for freedom from the root-touch-up routine of using henna ( or henna/indigo ). Basics: Long med/dark brown hair with 10-15% gray interspersed ( lighter/more gray at temples), medium density fine European wavy hair type. I've been letting my henna/indigo fade for two years now and my roots are grown out to my true dark brown/gray is approx 7" long, a soft gradation to the remaining 14" Length of faded henna (indigo was all faded out after year one). The brown still has more of a rusty cast than I care for, and the gray hairs that had been hennaed were light orange, yet getting lighter and lighter with time, but I got tired of waiting and realized that orange is not going away without some help. So I studied and searched and refuse to cut my long locks, yet keep it as healthy as possible ( no bleach/peroxide ammonia or chemical dyes have ever been used on my hair - just the pure henna/indigo was used to cover my roots til I decided to stop that routine). After a long drawn out search For something "blue" to cancel out the orange, I read a TON of reviews and watched you-tubes on many products, and decided the safest approach was to try this Aveda black malva conditioner and leave it on ( also a dear friend uses the blue malva on her gray-white/blonde hair to cancel out the yellowish tones - and she urged me to try Aveda first). It worked! I am very happy with the results, my faded henna brown turned a cool rich dark chocolate ( the color I was born with) and the gray hairs are no longer orange, they are now a soft neutral beige/gray tone and the gradation line is far less noticeable than before because my hair is all blended cool shades of brown and gray...I am very pleased with this effect and no longer hide my hair under a hat. I bought my first tube from Amazon, but In search for the lowest price for this pricey potion (that I'm now hooked on), I found it for considerably less if purchased directly from the Aveda company's website. My apologies to the Amazon vendors. Note to readers: I like blue, and wouldn't if mind if the black malva conditioner had given my "grays" a blue cast, but the lightest/white-gray at my temples did not turn blue at all, just a vibrant silvery tone that smells good, and is not as frizzy - hats off to Aveda!

It does not smell good, not horrible
I do not use this as a conditioner. I use it to tone my dyed dark-brown hair. It works very well for this, to reduce red tones. I dampen my hair, apply then leave in 30 minutes to an hour. I then wash with Black Malva Shampoo, then use a different color-safe conditioner. It does not smell good, not horrible, but not good, kind of like incense. The scent lingers even after I was and recondition. I do not think this would work well as an actual conditioner, it does not detangle or soften hair. It does work well as a toner to cool warm tones.

Groovy advice from a hippy
This Aveda black malva works pretty good. It comes in different shades. I make homemade "shampoo" out of it. Make sure to leave in for 10 or 15 minutes to let it do its magic before rinsing out. Great product to use regularly if you want hair that looks natural and not dyed. I am a male. I will be 66 yo in a few weeks. I have lots of shoulder length healthy dark hair. :-)

Don't use it as a conditioner in the shower...
Twice a week I smear this onto a comb, and comb it into my dull grey hair while wet... leave it in for hours. Shampoo out, turns my hair darker, more silvery than grey. One tube lasts forever.

Nourishing without being greasy.
Used this to keep my blue/black dye from fading and it worked like a charm. Love the smell and the texture. Nourishing without being overly emollient and making my hair greasy. Now that my hair is back to its original color, dark brown/black, I am tempted to keep using this because I liked it so much. It will stain your grout and maybe your bathtub if you don't rinse everything away though. Be forewarned.

Great scent
Wonderful scent. Takes shine off the grey and the grey is less noticeable. I'm very chemically sensitive and cannot use most hair products due to smell. I have no problem with this product.
