Lipitor Thief of Memory

Imperative that everyone with a heart read this book
As a retired ICU nurse, it is a continual aggravation with me that multiple physicians have tried to get me to take statins. I have a normal cholesterol-always below 200; I use this cholesterol (as everyone does) to make cell walls and hormones, and probably other little jobs in my body that I am not aware of. Cholesterol is not public enemy #1. My HDL and LDL levels are not where they should be, and I will appreciate knowing how I can improve those, but especially after reading this informative, convincing book, I refuse to take statins. BTW, I had a fellow nurse who took 2 statins for years because she wanted her cholesterol below 100. Guess who ended up having a heart cath and coronary artery bypass graft-and then stents in her grafts- even though she had a cholesterol below 100? Perhaps it was the smoking that did it. If you have a heart, read this book. And God bless this MD for having the courage to write it!

Statin Side Effects Can Debilitate Anyone
This is a good personal story about the dangers of statins, but if you're trying to decide if you should take them I recommend "Fat and Cholesterol Don't Cause Heart Attacks, edited by Paul Rosch, which is a compilation of medical papers on the subject.

Very Good But Incomplete Nutritional Information
The book is very good. He tells of his horrific experience with amnesia due to using lipitor. He also delves into the fraud of research that caused the whole cholesterol histeria. He then quotes research and experiences of doctors in the earlty 1900s and states that heart disease was almost unheard of. Only when the low-fat, high-carb diets came in did heart disease and obesity explode. Finally he writes about what to do to help your heart health and bring down homocysteine which he appearantly think is the real culprit in heart disease. He pushes B vitamins, CoQ10 among other things. HE COMPLETELY MISSES VITAMIN C FOR ARTERY HEALTH. BAFFLING! Dr. Matthias Rath came up with the vitamin c and lysine combination to reduce LP(a) which is the inflammatory, sticky part of cholesterol in LDL. Vitamin C repairs your arteries. Rath's info has been out there since 1991. Why Animals Dont't Get Heart Attacks But People Do is the book. Free PDF.

Lipitor is the worst product that excises and should be banned
Lipitor is the worst product that exist and should be banned. Lowering the Cholesterol in reducing the production by the liver is idiotic. Cholesterol I the the main material to build our cell walls, and not having enough building materials weakens our body. I you build a house with concrete and you suddenly reduce the concrete production, how did you think the house will look like. The Pharmaceutical killed the true solution from Kilmer S. McCully, M. D. to make $Billions with worthless product that makes you slowly sick and you can loose your memory as the author Duane Graveline, M. D. writes in his book after such an experience.

Lipitor Thief of Memory
I am an old fan of Doc. Duane Graveline since I first came across his articles, then books, a few years ago. I am not medically trained but have learned a lot from my doctor friends over the years and was immediately struck by the clear and precise way Doc. Graveline tackled his subject. This is in a time when Statins are purported to be the wonder boy of the medical world and extremely popular among all medical practitioners in the UK and doubtless in other Western countries. On being offered statins, unnecessarily, for about the fifth or sixth times, I remarked that the medical profession in this country seemed to be obsessed by these, supposedly remarkable medicines. I said: It seems that you are dishing out statins by rote; everybody must have a statin! What was meant to be a provocative remark drew an expression of complete agreement. The doctors, here, were for some reason or other, encouraged to give everybody one or other of the statins. Amazing! Some considerable time later, I began to read newspaper articles by doctors who seemed to be sharing Doc. Graveline's view; that there was something wrong about a seeminly miracle cure. And then and article by a very well read doctor in one of our leading national newspapers, which actually mentioned Doc. Graveline and his works, concurring with the idea that these drugs are, in one way or other, character changing.Nor is there too much emphasis on the difference between HDL and LDL when discussing cholesterol with patients. Another key point in Doc Graveline's work.. Too bad.

Help
In 2007 after my doctor wanted to put me on Lipitor I said Red Yeast Rice should help me with Cholesterol. He as with many medical people refuse to consider some things that have helped numerous generations. I read and mentioned this book.Six months later he was shocked and I used RedRice Yeast for at least. 20 years. Unfortunately my current cardiac specialist shares the disdain meaning I went onto Lipitor a few years ago.I am not aware of any improvement in numbers nor have I seen negative reviews on RedYeast Rice. Possibly safer than Lipitor?

Boring but gets the point across - DON'T TAKE LIPITOR
This book was recommended by my Naturapathic doctor since I have plaque on my arteries due to having Rheumatoid Arthritis. My cholesterol levels are great and my good cholesterol is off the dial great. I bought the book on Amazon and his author just paraphrases and quotes his info. I found it minimally helpful and boring. I didn't even finish the book but read enough to know that there is NO WAY I AM TAKING LIPITOR OR ANY STATIN DRUG. I purchased Red Yeast Rice and will take my chances. So, if you get the book, buy it used for a very inexpensive price. I think I paid a total of maybe $6.50

Information that could save your life!
An excellent book written by someone who is not only well qualified (in the medical sense) but also from personal practical experience of the nasty side effects statin drugs can produce.Although other books make mention of a lot of the same subject matter, this book contains deeper explanations for a better understanding, especially important if you happen to be afflicted with any of the conditions under discussion. It also details the serious and sometimes lethal side effects of statins and the fact that the drugs industry knowingly accepts them. Profit before health? He details the extra dangers of being prescribed statins if you are diabetic and also points out that, far from being heart protective (as the industry and medical profession would have you believe) statins may even be the cause of problems in this area! This is back to the generally accepted myth that cholesterol blocks arteries and therefore causes heart attacks and strokes and that by reducing cholesterol levels (with a statin drug, of course) such events can be avoided. There is another and more plausible explanation that has nothing to do with cholesterol. Very absorbing material!

If you're on any kind of statin then this a ...
If you're on any kind of statin then this a definite read. After reading this I have been off statins completely for over 5 months and hey presto! - no more fuzzy brain, no more severe muscle aches. The author is well placed to present his own experiences with statins as he is a medical professional with NASA and is speaking from experience of having used statins, not academic theory. There are many natural ways of reducing and controlling cholesterol levels not the least of which is Vitamin B3 (Niacin not niacinamide) coupled to a 'greener' diet. If nothing else, this book increases ones knowledge base as enables one to make a more informed decision regarding statins.
