I See Things Differently: Helping Kids Understand Autism and Neurodiversity (A First Look at...Series)

I bought this book to teach my youngest about her big sister’s autism and it is a great little educational book for children. It is quite spot on. I bought a second one for Read Across America week for my child’s teacher’s classroom. She absolutely loved it.

This book is a great book to introduce and talk about autism to kids and adults. I included this book along with autism bracelets and buttons in my son's party favor bags. He has autism and is nonverbal so this was ideal and important to me to gift to our family and friends.I also agreed an excerpt titled all about me where I explained some of his likes/interests, dislikes /triggers and ways to help make him feel calm comfortable and accepted so that anyone who is with him feels the same.GREAT BOOK!!

I love this book so much. It simply and supportively helped us explain Autism to our son and family.

I like this book bease it is great for educating classrooms and kiddos themselves. I was introducing ASD to my son and he really identified with it. He has read it several times, choosing it on his own. I am going to give a copy to his teacher next year for the whole class to explore. (He is 8/9 going into 3rd grade)

I love this. I have three daughters, ages 8 1/2, 7 1/2, and 5. My oldest is autistic. My middle daughter has struggled the most with patience over the last few years as she gets older. Autism has been a constant her entire existence and for longer than the youngest’s. She loves to tell anyone when she’s introducing her sister, “This is my sister, ****, she has autism.” Lol. And she kind of knows what that means, but not really... This book is going to be amazing for my younger two. And help teach them ways to spread the understanding for their sister.

We ordered this book after my son, who is autistic, pointed out that he feels different than other kids, and we felt the need to talk to him about his uniqueness. This wasn't an easy talk, so we needed an icebreaker for him. The book arrived and sat on the table for a few days. We walked into our dining room one day to find him reading it, so we decided the discussion was necessary. Prior to finishing the book, he said he knows he is autistic because he feels the way some of the descriptions provided In the book. This was a good tool for explaining the differences of others and explaining to his sister why her brother does certain things. I would recommend this book to other families when they decide the time is right to introduce their child to their uniqueness.

One of the books I purchased in april to bring awareness to my autistic son(s) and his school. The book was read to the entire school. He was 6 at the time and the book is so clear and yet so delicate in a matter of bringing those connections to their brains about Autisim. He made such powerful eye contact with me during the book and had a fear in his eye only I could understand. He then asked me after if he had autisim. I asked him if he identified with the character and he replied yes. I admitted to him that I did too. 💙

Brilliant book. My granddaughter is currently being assessed for autism and I brought this book on a whim. I have to say it is excellent and explains things in a very no-nonsense and simple way. As a family we have found it very useful and will also use it for my granddaughter as she grows up and her little sister to help them understand what is happening. A most for any family of all ages who have an autist child.

Perfect book to share for my sons JK class to educate them on world autism awareness day! So glad I ordered it very educational yet child friendly in wording and scenarios presented. Perfect

Really good to introduce children about what autism is and how we should include these children.

This is a really great book, my Autistic child didn't really understand the storyline, but wil have plenty of time in the future to explore it.

This book really helped my 5 year old better understand her 3 year old sister with ASD.
