PILOT Capless Fountain Pen with Special Alloy Nib in Deep Yellow, Unisex

I chose this model with the special alloy nib due to the value compared to gold nib options, plus I liked the yellow color which was not available in other models. If desired, I can buy the gold nib later on its own and this combination would come out at a similar price compared to buying the gold nib version directly, but with an extra nib to show for it. The pen is very convenient and easy to use, and does not seem to dry out when unused (though I've been using it often enough that I haven't gone more than a couple of days between uses.) I have also used a clone of this model (Jinhao 10) and definitely prefer the Pilot. In my opinion the difference in price is worth the increase in quality. We live in a desert region and have very low humidity, so pens drying out happens but isn't something I've seen with the Pilot. I do find that the barrel can be a bit slick with very dry fingers. The clip doesn't get in the way for my pen grip, which is a pretty standard grip. It is comfortable to use and has some weight to it, which feels nice in the hand. At the end of the day it is very convenient and satisfying to be able to click the button and be ready to go or to retract the nib while I am pausing for thought without having to worry about the pen drying out. It is very functional and convenient, while delivering a quality writing experience.

I’ve had this saved in my wish list for over two years and bought it for myself in June 2025: it’s amazing. Fantastic quality, very good/traditional fine Japanese nib (like a European ‘EF’). The nib is not gold (just gold plated), but I have a vintage Pilot with a fine 14k nib and my hands aren’t sensitive enough to discern any difference between the two. I’ve traveled with it and use it as an everyday driver; couldn’t be happier with the performance, even on crummy-quality paper. My only advice: get the squeeze converter (con-70 [?]), not the other one. I tried both and the twist converter is terrible.

This is a high quality fountain pen from Pilot brand that I always prefer and use for high quality writing. I recommend pilot fountain pen. It’s elegant and beautiful color and the softness on the fingers while writing ✍️.

Can't say enough good things! Sadly the color i bought was just because it was the least expensive option. It is literally the color of turmeric. i loved it so much i bought one for work too!! the clip placement may be irritating for some, i actually like it. Sturdy build, should be around a good long while!! It is more than i normally pay for my fountains, but i'm very happy with the purchase! i use my fountains at work and the constant uncapping and capping to avoid nib dryout - these days are over!!!!! this pen doesn't miss a beat!!! LOVE IT

Wow... Just wow. This pen is fun to use. Isn't gotten over the novelty of a retracting nib! Be warned, if you've got a singularly unique grip, this pen will not work for you- the clip will get in the way. I've got monstrous hands, I can grip a NBA regulation size basketball effortlessly, Asher this own sits right/correctly b in my hand. I've the fine nib. It's very smooth and there's definitely feedback. And the pen will easily write under it's own weight. If you're considering this pen and need one with a retractable nib to use for short bursts of note taking, etc get this pen. For long, continuous writing sessions, look elsewhere. Oh, the color (yellow) is darker and has more red/orange than the product photo depicts.

I have many fountain pens and just added this one to the collection. First the good: the quality is top: beautiful color and materials. How does it write? Mine is a f nib so it has a very thin and dry ink flow ( I am using standard pilot cartridges ). It’s a steel nib so not much flex but I’m totally fine with that. It is so good with ink that you can write on very thin paper without any issue. No skips at all. Wonderful! Any negatives ? Well maybe. If you have OCD you might have a issue that many times with this model the nib is not always perfectly aligned to the cap. Mine has this issue. I know it’s a very common issue and if you heat the body I read you might be able to adjust it to be symmetrical to the nib. Maybe.While it’s noticeable it doesn’t bother me and has zero effect on the comfort of writing. Overall a great pen for under $100.

This is the most I've ever spent on a pen and I was worried that I would regret it. I was wrong! This pen makes it hard to write badly and actually makes notetaking enjoyable! It is precise and the ink comes out smoothly. I often have issues with other fountain pens I own clogging up (which could be more a symptom of low quality ink??) but I've been using Pilot Namiki ink cartridges in this pen and have not had any issues. By far, my favorite writing tool!
