Not for all... but overall a good solution
This device relies on an adhesive base. So it is designed to be placed and adhered to a vehicle's dashboard top. With a typically flat dashboard top, this holder secures very well and can be freely oriented horizontally. The adhesive functions analogously to a post-it note. It is not permanent, reusable, and typically will not leave residue on the dash-unless used in extremely hot temperatures. If you live in a hot desert, this holder still works- but don't leave it on a hot dashboard all day. The adhesive will attract dust/dirt, but you can wash it which renews its adhesive properties. If you drive rental cars frequently (e.g., for work travel), this is a great solution as it adapts to many different car models (they all have a dash!). Other solutions which rely on air vents, or other attachment points are hit and miss depending on the car model. The slot to hold the phone (in a horizontal position) can accept some phones with cases- but if you have an extra bulky/thick case, it may not. This is an excellent, inexpensive solution for many- if not all- car owners using phone GPS's.

Best friction or otherwise phone holder I've tried
I tried a bunch of phone holders, the kind you use magnets, the kind you put into your air vents, the kind you put into your cd player, the kind you put in your beverage holder, and this one is so simple yet practical that I just stuck with this design and have gone through 3 cars and still kept it. It does it's job, only issue for me is that since it goes on your dash, the phone is not protected from the sun and can get pretty hot in hot weather, also, if you have something dangling from your rearview mirror, you will at times just see a distracting reflection of furry dice on your phone. Overall, it's simple, it's good, it's not mechanical so won't break on you. Get it if you're tired of the other kind dropping your phone on your mid trip.

Product works fine, but there's a major hiccup in it's use depending on where you live/drive!
I bought the product a few weeks ago and have been using it often, pretty much every time I take my car out. The installation is pretty easy and straightforward, just be sure to clean up well the surface where it'll be installed. After a few weeks of use, it has not moved at all, which is good. It holds my iPhone 7 Plus with a sort of thick hardshell cover well. Feel a little tricky to use a few apps for some minor parts of the bottom of the screen (I use the phone in a horizontal position when in the car) a bit inaccessible because of the fixation points. That was not a surprise as the phone needs to be fixed somehow doesn't it? So, basically the product works exactly as expected, but wait! There is a major issue, not with the product itself, but with the conditions where it is used. I live in EXTREMELY sunny Los Angeles and that means that in most cars/dashboard tops, if not all of them, when you attach your phone to the product, your phone will be under direct sun during the day. Here in California it means your phone will be under extreme heat for most part of the day and that will cause its temperature to go so high it'll just start behaving weird, slow down and even just shut off. I have even tried to redirect my vehicle's AC to the windshield so it would "bounce back" over the phone to try and keep it cool, but even with the AC at highest power would not prevent the phone from frying under the sun on the hotter times of the day. The result? I can't use the product to hold my phone when driving during the hottest times of the day around here. If you live in cloudier regions, far from any hot deserts (Let's say Seattle or NY, for instance), there may be no issue. I still would recommend the product as the issue is not related to its design or fabrication.

Great car phone heads up holder unit
The car phone holder is great. It has nice adhesion (make sure your dash is fairly level not rounded) and the iphone 6plus with small cover fit perfectly. The cord slots made insert and removal of phone very easy and convenient. The position on the dash allowed me for heads up driving, versus a cup holder or vent type of unit. My one draw back is that the sun baked down thru the windshield on my iPhone which caused it to overheat and shut down. I had to remove the phone to allow gif cooling off then was able to replace it back into holder. Not sure this will happen all the time, but it did when traveling cross country in October. I would definitely recommend this unit (noting my one draw back).

Works well but will leave goo on dash after a while
I bought 2 of these phone holders in 2020. They hold a variety of phones with and without a case pretty well unless the road is rough and they stick well to a textured dash. But by 2022 they were gooey on the bottom and when I tried to remove one of them, it left a black blob on a tan dash... so I left the phone holder in that spot when I sold the car. I still have 1 car with a tan dash using the other silicon phone holder. I'm leaving it in place forever because it has adhered and would leave a discoloration of goo if removed. I'm in MN so not even in a hot climate.

Best phone holder ever!
Oh my word, this is the best car phone holder ever! I had one before that suctioned to the window and had an adhesive tape material and it lasted for a while and was fine but then the sun was melting the glue and it was sliding off. Then I had to pick all of it off the windshield and it was a mess to clean up, so it’s so nice to have one that easily just sits on your dashboard and doesn’t leave a residue! It has a really good grip and hasn’t moved since I’ve placed it in my car. I like the fact that you can rinse it off with water and re-place it if need be.

Stays put
Works very well on the dashboard of my vehicle. Once it is put down it is somewhat difficult to remove. If left in direct heat it will leave some residue from the sticky pad on the bottom. Holds my phone great with out any harm metal or hard plastic grips. Perfect!

I’ve tried 6 other auto phone holders. They all failed! This one was the best by far and can be moved to another vehicle easily. The adherence to the dash is very strong but also removable. Great design!!
