They are very narrow...I’m unsure of the dimensions of your space...a plus is that you typically pack them with soft items that might be squeezed into the space. Hope this is helpful

Its not water proof only water repellent. I would not suggest it be used as a phone pouch. You can get one specifically for that reason.
