Wow!
The Dyson AM05 meets every expectation. To put it simply, it is AMAZING. I finally bit the bullet and paid the price. Boy am I ever glad I took this decision since we are experiencing one of the coldest winter in Canada (down to -25 to -30). I live in a large older house that has some cold pockets, especially the master bedroom. Short of reinsulating the walls or installing a base heater (both of which would have been expensive and disruptive), the Dyson provides ample and comfortable heat throughout the room. I can now sleep comfortably through the night without having to wake up multiple times shivering. It is also portable and can be carried around the house without fuss. Sound wise, there is a bit of noise when it is on, but not annoying. I can't imagine then what the earlier versions were like as people complained about the noise level being high. The only thing I did not like was the delivery. The unit was delivered and left at the front door while we were away. Normally, I would not have worried about it, except for the fact that it did not come packaged in a brown shipping box with extra padding and coverage. It was sent in the original box. Had it been damaged, I would have been hard pressed to explain that to Amazon, in case I was not happy with the product and wanted to return it; not to mention Anyone could have easily stolen it seeing as it is a Dyson. That would have been a huge financial loss and again, I would have no proof to show for that the unit was delivered to my house.

It's a good fan
It's a good fan - not a great one, a little over priced, but it does seem to be holding up well. I think a lot of reviewers thought it was supposed to be quieter - I had heard it was just less choppy, since there is no fan blade, and in that respect the noise is easier on the ears. But it's still pretty loud - no louder than any other fan but we don't perceive a noise reduction. I like that you can tilt the head, and the fan makes no noise when pivoting (no click other gear-type noise). We use it on a table in our living room, and sometimes angle it towards the floor to cool off the dogs. I love the little remote control, but then I'm a gadget geek. I vacuum the vent holes about every week, no other problems with dust buildup and we have three dogs. Only now getting into the real test - winter and heating. Will update this review next spring after a good long time spent heating a large basement space.

Perfect results
10 strengths, one you cannot hear and 10 will heat the room . % is enough for a big bedroom. The no blade design is a nice safe feature. Great quality. Actually invented by a major Japanese manufacturer who never used the patent. Dyson picked it up, improved it and made it a fine product. I like it as a back up heather in AZ, it keeps the air temperature even across the room. The air palettes keep a non drying even heat much lower than the other heathers so you do not wake up with a parched throat or a dry sinus. As a fan it move a lot of air and not much dust, a great design. The price tends to vary depending on demand and season. I got mine form my dear Amazon and got a great price.

Dyson Heater fine BEFORE recall, now useless as heater
I really liked the heating function of the Dyson Hot+Cool for one winter. Actually kept a room warm without help from other heaters where I had needed at least two heaters in prior years, so I was pleased / impressed. Then got the recall notice and sent it in. Got the Hot+Cool back fairly quickly so the recall went smoothly for me. Now it does NOT put out as much heat as before and now it cannot keep the same room warm (even though the winter was milder). I'm not sure what was done during the recall, but it does NOT do a useful job of heating any more, and as others have noted, it's a bit noisy and not very effective as a cooling fan. Just to rub salt in the wound, after the recall, the heater now clicks each time it changes rotational direction which it never did before. Now it sits in a corner waiting for me to figure out what to do with it.

Is good when you buying it JUST for the looks
Is good when you buying it JUST for the looks. Is good when you buying it because you have to or want to stick it to a corner. Is good when you don't want your kids expose to any fan blade. (there are cheaper alternatives) Is good when you want heated and self rotate and remote controlled (thee are cheaper alternatives) Is good when you don't mind paying a extra 0 for any of the above. Is bad when you think you getting some sort of advance technology in this fan. Is bad when you try to tell your friend how high tech this fan is. There is no tech. they pretty much moved the fan/turbine to the base of the unit, imagine is really a fan that blowing upward and through a tube that changing the direction. There is no tech on "multiplying" air, they really want to compare this to the situation on a flying plane? Really? The angled exhaust edge generates next to nothing or consider nothing on "air pulling" force. Is just marketing gimmicks. Due to the design, it is also noisier than any other fans that's blowing the same amount of air. It makes much louder noise just to move the same amount of air. I bought 3 of them just for the looks and the format, if you don't care about the looks or must need a quiet fan, look else where.

Disappointed
I bought this after seeing one at Costco for sale (the AM04) but when i went back to purchase they stopped carrying it. Decided to get one on amazon but figured might as well get the AM05 since it moves more air and only about 40 dollars more. I am disappointed with this unit. It heats and moves air pretty well but this thing is noisy. This sits on a table about 6 feet away from my bed and I measured this at 43dB on its lowest fan setting and about 54dB at the highest.. Should have watched the consumer report review on this before buying. They said this was the loudest fan/heater they tested. I think I may have a defective unit since this thing at the lowest fan setting (1) has a very annoying vibrating buzzing noise on top of the loud fan sound. It's not the base thats loose since if I hold it down it still vibrates and makes a buzzing noise. It comes and goes when the fan oscillates which makes me believe something inside the unit is loose. At the price they charge this for this fan should not have any defects. I'm going to see if I can exchange or have it repaired under warranty. Pros -Heating is quick and warms up my bed room quickly -Nice looking design -Small foot print (good for rooms with limited space) -Remote control (magnetic that sticks to the top of the fan) Cons -Expensive -Very loud (i have an older tower fan i bought at costco and even at full speed that one does not sound as loud as the dyson at the lowest setting) -My unit has an annoying buzzing noise at the lower settings -In order to turn fan mode on you have to drop the thermostat setting all the way down to 32 degrees -Temperature display is a little bright at night with the lights off.

Looks great, performs well, a little loud.
EDIT AFTER USING THE PRODUCT FOR A DAY: Once you get the hang of how to use it (temp needs to be set all the way down for constant fan flow, or all the way up for constant heat flow), this thing really works well. For example, I don't have a fan in my bathroom, so I'd use my previous vornado for clearing the steam out the window during a shower. I'd always have to leave the vornado running for a while after I got out of the shower. The dyson works far better and all of the steam is gone right away. Heating works well, too. My only gripes with this product: - It's pretty loud. It would be 5 stars if it wasn't so loud. - There should be controls on the TOP, not the bottom. The bottom controls are very hard to see. You have to back away from the unit and bend down to see them. They are almost useless because you'd have to bend all the way down to the ground to use them. So you pretty much have to rely on the remote, which, knowing how forgetful I can be, I will probably misplace frequently. - The remote control affixes to the top with a magnet, but the controls face DOWN. Why why why why would they do this? Why don't the controls face UP so I can use the remote while it's affixed to the top of the unit? Aside from that, it's like a beautiful, functional piece of art. It's really far better-looking than the vornados. Hopefully it will last much longer. My initial reactions are below: I really want to love this heater, and I've only had it for one day, but here's my sense about it so far: PROS: - No moving parts or areas to collect dust like Vornado (I've had multiple Vornado fan heaters but they have a lifespan of about 2 years before they no longer work because of dust buildup) CONS: - Loud - Hard to control the fan- hard to just say "turn on fan" and keep it running. It has to be tied to the room temperature. So if you want it to run for a long time, you either have to turn it to the lowest temp setting, in which case you get no heat, or way above the current room temp, in which case it gets too hot. In this case I thought Vornado was superior because you could just flip it on and it would go until you turn it off. Ultimately I will probably return because at 4x the price of Vornado heaters, I'm happier buying a Vornado once every 2 years for the next 8 years and coming out even.

Heats BIG room in mins!
OMG - this thing is AMAZING. I have this huge room over my two car garage (about 500 sq ft) and it has 10 foot ceilings. This room is always sooo cold or sooo hot based on being located over the garage. I even brought in a plumber to see if there was an option for additional heat and cooling in the room. I have been nervous about using a space heater in the room, as it seems really unsafe. Not the case with the Dyson. It's cool to the touch and with all the amazing settings, I can adjust it to exactly what I want and not worry about a fire safety issue. It was spendy, but man. It heats up the ENTIRE room in about 10-15 mins. I never thought I would be able to get that room warm without spending 5000 or more on the process. Definitely worth every penny.

Definitely worth the money ๐!
Love it and all the functions. It's not in the description but upon reading the manual it tilts up and down! Heat rises, cool air falls and I am the daughter of an engineer and truly appreciate the quality.

Finally a fan that works!
In a room 12 x 14, it works well for cooling. Other fans weren't effective. The Dyson fan keeps the room cool and is reasonably quiet.
