How am I supposed to take off the backing? There is no tab or place where it readily lifts and I feel that it’s taking way too long :-(

Good question, no mention of backing when I bought mine, I just thought they were a dull poor quality product. Now you ask I looked closely and yes there is a backing. A finger nail slid around one of the corners seems to lift it a bit and oce you get a quarter inch up it peels of just fine.

I notice these don't come with the non-slip rubber feet. Do they slip and slide easily if heavy weight is applied?

No - does not slip or slide at all. The base is long enough so that the weight of what you are holding up will stay put. Does not need any non-slip rubber feet.

The thickness is about 0.12inch/3mm, and the weight of each bookend is 120g.
