Ultraloq smart lock is a “SHORE” thing!
It’s a “shore” thing! The sea salt, sun nor sunscreened fingertips stop this smart lock from working.I purchased my first Ultraloq Pro lock in 2021. It was purchased for the front door of my beach home with the intent on making it easier for service people to come and go. That it did. However I have to admit I did have some troubles with it. About a month after I purchased the lock it stopped unlocking and/or would get jammed. . I knew it was installed correctly as I had hired a locksmith to professionally install it (not necessary though). Even after troubleshooting using the app support and the manual The lock would not work. I called customer service and they willingly worked with me and concluded that I needed a replacement part (which they mailed out immediately). Since then, that lock has worked like a charm and I’ve purchased two others, one for my back door and one for my storage shed.My family LOVES our Ultraloq smart locks and so do I! Of course I love them for the usual reasons such as, fingerprint recognition, not having to dig out keys, having the peace of mind that it locks up if I or someone else forgets to lock up because we may have our hands full etc.,being able to make temporary users for when no is at home but service people still need to get in (you can also give the temp users a set schedule when their codes work and how many times they can use their codes with set times and dates). But, most of all, I LOVE these locks for their durability at the beach. Anyone who owns a home on our near the beach knows that the salt air and high sun rays destroys everything. It either rusts it or dries it out. Even stainless steel, marine quality products have been destroyed by the beach elements. These locks, however have still held up. My front door lock is 4 years old and still going strong. No signs if corrosion, rust, or weakening of the interior or exterior components of the lock! It even works with sunscreened fingertips! Yahoo!Even the Ultraloq on my storage shed, which is out in the direct sunlight and elements is working great! On my storage shed it gives me a piece of mind that the bikes, beach chairs and water toys are locked up and safe!If you want to hit the beach and enjoy the sun, sand and surf with no worries, this is the smart lock for you! The perfect beach house addition! I’ll keep you updated as I will be purchasing these locks for my permanent residence soon.

Works Well For Us... No complaints
After quite a bit of research I purchased the ULTRALOQ Bolt Fingerprint Deadbolt on Amazon. It showed up the next day. Hardware installation was a breeze. Then I downloaded the Xthings Home app, created an account, followed the setup steps in the app, and was able to get it connected to WiFi and complete the setup. But I was never able to pair the Bolt Fingerprint Deadbolt with Bluetooth on my Samsung S23 Android cell phone. Sent support question to ULTRALOQ and they said setup will use the stronger of the two (Bluetooth or WiFi). In my case WiFi had an excellent signal so the setup used WiFi, not Bluetooth. Everything works just fine.It takes a bit of an effort to find things in the Xthings application. I probably spent 30 minutes exploring all the different options and settings. But eventually I was able to add my wife as a user and set up our passcodes and fingerprints. Fingerprint entry works well. Passcodes also work well. When setting up a fingerprint make sure your finger is flat on the fingerprint reader. If you tilt your finger, you will likely have problems using the fingerprint reader. This is what happened to my wife when she set up her thumbprint. But after correcting how she set up her thumbprint, the fingerprint reader has had no problems reading her thumbprint.A cool feature….. My wife downloaded the Xthings Home app on her phone and used my login credentials. Now she has full access to the Xthings Home application just like on my phone. I was worried this would cause a conflict, but we have no issues so far.We are happy with our ULTRALOQ Bolt Fingerprint deadbolt and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good digital deadbolt. We have had no issues, and everything seems to be working just fine.

Think carefully on this lock - your mileage may vary
Update: 24 Mar 26 (4 stars):The costumer service team is absolutely stellar as I mentioned in my previous review. They will work with you and not leave you hanging. U-TEC reached out to me about my original review. I did tell them I was awaiting the replacement parts. I wanted to wait for the replacement parts before calling it a complete wrap. Unfortunately, the replacement parts somehow have an incorrect shipping address even though I verified that in the case I opened. I am still waiting for those parts and I opened a case with FedEx to reroute to a shipping center for pick up. I am not sure if they will arrive as they are currently sitting at a FedEx location somewhere. Note they were shipped with 2-day shipping and should have arrived 20 Mar 26.U-TEC offered a refund for the lock which came promptly after they requested I open a new case on their site for tracking.Perhaps I just got a dud. 🤷🏽♀️ Based on the service I received however, I would actually consider giving them another try and hope for a better outcome. The features that the lock has are pretty decent especially the HomeKit integration.Original Review 17 Mar 26 (2 stars):I was pretty excited to have this. Coming from a simple number touch pad lock, I wanted to have app access and add/remove user access on the fly. I was hoping that it would have been a simple install - 30 minutes tops not including the app configuration. It took me over 2 hours for the lock install. The app configuration probably another hour. 😳TLDR; it's a cheap, but not cheap lock. I had high hopes for it, but I feel like I should have paid a little more for a better lock (with HomeKit capability). I'm still in my return window, luckily.Good points:⭐️1. Setting up finger print and code access is very simple. User management is simple2. App is simple to navigate3. Customer service was quick. I opened a case and thought I resolved it. Customer service replied within 30 minutes or so. I opened a new case on the 5th pain point below and am awaiting a response.4. Auto locking with the magnet actually worked on the first go. This was probably the only thing that worked as expected.5. App notifications are very swift6. Logs lock and unlock actions by userPain points: 😖1. Door frame metal lock strike plate for whatever reason doesn't line up correctly and allow the lock to extend so I cannot use it currently. I will come back as it could be that the securing holes for the original plate were misaligned (but worked for the previous lock).2. I had to remove the spacer from the lock pad. I had enough space for it to fit inside the cylinder bore, BUT I guess it was too tight and prevented the motor from turning the lock. Unlocking with the key was fairly difficult and I was feeling at risk f breaking it.3. If you have a mesh network with both 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands using the same SSID and password, you will need to temporarily disable the 5ghz band to get the lock to connect to your phone. After it connects and you upgrade the firmware, you can re-enable the 5ghz band.4. For Apple Home, you must set it up within 10min of installing the battery. The unit takes about 1 minute to boot up.5. After getting everything sorted and working, the next morning (today), the motor appeared to need coffee. The lock would not retract or extend fully. This would result in a partial lock / unlock situation with the app thinking the door is fully unlocked or locked when it was not. If I happened to be out of the house and coming in, I would have required the key to enter. Not cool. I was testing a code with the door open and saw that the lock had not fully retracted from being locked (when using the button the lock on the keypad). I do keep a key for instances like this or when weather causes the door to stick or swell, but this not the case here, yet.6. App access is fairly slow. It takes a while to connect. Siri, Alexa and Apple Watch all take a while to connect. I have not tested this remotely. It will probably have a sizable delay as well.7. Lock mechanism / motor is pretty noisy and takes several seconds to lock. The locking while immediate in the app, takes a while mechanically.

Over a year of using
In the beginning, the installation and setup of the device was easy. The only issue I seemed to run into initially around that time of June/July of 2023 was the Wi-Fi adapter or "bridge." It would not connect even if you had it right beside the device less than 6 inches away and it was on the right type of Wi-Fi as well. However, sometimes it would just show that it was not connected but at times it really was. As days turned into weeks that issue never came up even after having to move the bridge or power outage happened, etc. They'd always connect back up to each other without fail. The family loves it and so do I. I enjoy having the peace of mind that it locks up if I or someone else forgets to lock up because we may have our hands full etc. I recently days ago finally had my first and true issue where for some reason the device would not lock up all the way and give a jam notice. Even if you didn't have the door shut, it would jam up on its own when attempting to lock up. I called customer service and they already had my information and sent me a test to give them the results via email response and currently they have a part replacement on the way under warranty. They're super cool and I am missing not having to use keys and am forgetting to lock the door while it's still down. I've had this over a year and it's a great investment and spend in my opinion based on experience and family's experience. I also love being able to make temporary users for when we're not home but need to let a repair person in and you can also give the temp users a set schedule when their codes work and how many times they can use their codes with set times and dates etc.I also strongly recommend to explain to new users that they need to wait for the green light to come on when inputting their entry codes because that indicates the deadbolt is fully unlocked. It does not retract in milliseconds, it takes about 1-2 seconds. You can also make spare copies of the keys at an Ace Hardware store under the Hillman brand, those work perfectly like the ones that came with the device. Great product and am not sure why the alert of Frequently Returned Item is on this.

Deadbolt does not work electronically
Deadbolt does not engage/disengage. I've owned ULTRALOQ for many years and loved it. Although I rarely used the app it worked fine every time. The lock was very reliable using PIN code but fingerprint scan only worked about 8 out of 10 times so I didn't use it. When I moved to new home I did not hesitate to buy another ULTRALOQ. The packing was good, Install went smoothly, app was fine, device setup was easy. But the one thing the lock MUST do reliably is lock and it did not work. I could engage and disengage the deadbolt using the latch on the inside and key on the outside but it doesn't work using PIN code or the app. The lock makes a sound as if the mechanism is working but the bolt does not move. I tried resetting the device and reconnecting the connector but neither helped. I searched for help but did not find anything useful. A lock should be a install it and forget it type of product. After messing with it for 2 hours I decided that was enough and sent it back.

See Update 2
Very easy to get it setup and connected. Has worked very well. I had issues with my 5 year old Schlage Smart Lock and decided to switch. I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a smart lock.UPDATE: This lock comes with AA Alkaline batteries. I installed in in my vacation cottage in August. Before leaving for the winter, I replaced the Alkaline batteries with Lithium AA batteries. The thought process was I'm not going to be back until Spring and I want to make sure the lock will open. Today I signed into the app and there is no connection to my WiFi. Wait a minute I have Blink cameras and a SmartThings system. They're connected so It isn't the WiFi. I contacted Ultraloq Support who told me it lost connection because the lock has to be powered by Alkaline batteries ONLY! The lock will drain lithium batteries in a few days... Never heard that one before! No where on this page where batteries are mentioned does it say Alkaline, Lithium or anything other than AA batteries. So, now I'm sending up the key so I can have it opened and see if this is true or not. Stay tunedUpdate 2Lock has been in place for 11months. I purchased a Latch 5 and Bolt Fingerprint to use at my home in Florida. Latch 5 was replaced and the second connected fine. The Bolt Fingerprint connected no problem. Now I’m in Michigan and the Bolt Fingerprint in Florida is no longer connected and the Michigan Bolt and Florida Latch are no longer connected to SmartThings. The representative didn’t have a solution. I’m spending way TOO MUCH TIME on trying to keep these connected and work as advertised!!!

Great for securing indoor double closet doors, too!
I’ve been looking for a simple and elegant “smart lock” for securing a set of indoor double closet doors, so they they’ll automatically secure when I leave the house and this works great! To make it work I needed to have the lock mechanism at the top of one door, so the deadbolt shoots up into the top of the door jam, and added metal tabs behind the second door to make sure they both stay shut when locked. I had a little issue with a non-functional outward facing keypad, so I contacted the manufacturer support and after a little troubleshooting, they shipped out a replacement “exterior” keypad which fixed the issue. This is a perfect solution for adding an additional layer of automatic security to keep your most valuable items safe should someone break into the house, even if it buys a little extra time for police to arrive after a security system is activated. I love that not only does this version have a digital keypad and WiFi connectivity via the bridge (and the ability to control the app through the app), but it also has physical backup keys in case the batteries die or there is an electronic malfunction… especially important in my case since we can’t access the inside of the closet to manually lock/unlock it. Though my situation isn’t what the product was designed for, I found a way to make it work to great effect. Easy and quick to install after cutting the new hole in the door and pretty affordable as well!

VERY HAPPY WITH IT
Easy to install and use. The only problem is that we can't get the fingerprint setting to work. However, we love that it automatically opens the door when your cell phone is nearby. That is a great feature when carrying groceries, etc. Overall we are very happy with it.

Great lock
Works great and looks sleek! Easy to install, reliable remote access with the WiFi bridge, and multiple ways to unlock. Very secure and convenient—highly recommend!I had to contact customer service because the bridge stopped working. It was quick and easy. They sent out a replacement and everything is working properly.

Run away from this brand
Not recommended, almost impossible to create an account to proprietary app (app didn’t send OTP to validate account). Once you manage to create account (only by apple subscription) you can find the bolt but during authentication app will kick you out and you’ll not be able to add your bolt in app in order to use all functions. Requested technical support to producer followed up with instructions but still not be able to add it to app. Once I requested to replace the unit or refund they disappeared and never reply to me again. Very bad experience, very bad app, mediocre bolt. Not recommended at all.

Very functional lock
We replaced an existing simple code lock in order to allow remote code programming for our vacation rental. Replacement was simple other then this new lock has a side plate and our old one did not. So we had to chisel then in. No biggie. The lock itself is well made, quiet and set up with the wifi bridge was simple. The app us easy to use and functions are impressive. Remote lock/unlock/code programing/timed entry/limited number of entries/different types of users/optional auto lock/optional auto open etc etc . App is very intuitive. It is exactly what I wanted. Two small design complaints are that 1. The numbers are not easily visible in the dark unless you light them up by pushing the lock button first (or the first number you can't see:)). Not sure why it doesn't have dark on white numbering. 2. The lock button should be on the top and not "hidden" below the key hole assembly. The lock button looks more like a logo.None of these are a big deal if it is your own house but with vacation rentals, some guests are just not that great at figuring things out....:)...so a more intuitive design would go a long way. More of a suggestion then a complaint. Great product!
