OK
Its not the greatest prop rod out there but its ok. Don't think i would try to hold up anything super heavy but for small car and truck hood it works good.

Great for swinging and throwing!
I've got several hood props but this one is just simply excellent for the price. It's basically an extendable plastic cane, so it's really light and breaks down to a really small size. I use the one to primarily chase Sean around the shop with during slow times. When I catch him it makes a really nice "crack" sound when it impacts, and it's held up great!

Waste of time and money ***possible injury***
Used 3 times now it comes down and when it comes down, it comes down hard

Holds firmly
Item holds firmly and performs well! I prefer the metal style hood props but for the price, this one does it's job just fine

W1475 Telescoping Hood Prop Rod (16" to 40")
On my last car, the trunk props and the hood props were ridiculous. I replaced the hood prop rods 4 times over the years. Even when they were new, I had to hold the hood up and secure each rod to the stationary knobs on the frame, because once I closed the hood, they would pop back off. Eventually, the plastic piece that snapped onto the knob would break and they had to be replaced. So when I got this car and the hood props were bad, I decided not to deal with them anymore and I got this telescoping pole. Problem solved. It works great, will work forever, from car to car if need be, it cost less than one set of junk hood props from the auto parts store. I don't have to worry about the hood, or the trunk falling on my head ever again.

Great for the price, but labeled incorrectly
I've been wanting a hood prop for a while. Occasionally I'm dealing with a car with failed or failing hood pistons. This was listed for about $16, less than half the price of the competing products. I can't speak to the durability of this one vs the more expensive ones, but this one does the job. However, one needs to be careful as it's labeled incorrectly. The arrows on it indicate to turn in clockwise to open and counterclockwise to close it. It's the exact opposite and works as one would expect it work intuitively. Turn in clockwise to tighten the sections into position and counter clockwise to loosen and collapse the sections.
