Instant Container Gardens

We used the book to enhance our veg garden 2 person sitting area that is over looked by a large window. We started with 2 window boxes there to see how we liked the products. It took a nice area and gave it a huge wow factor. We loved it. Our friends loved it. It helped give a cooling effect to the bench seat. The overhang of the house gave protection so that we had flowers well past the time the rest of the yard was killed off.We don't want to invest a lot of time & effort on containers but they are the items that give ambiance. The author has done plant trials to find out what does well in containers so you will always have a great looking container. She has developed an entire line of container products and the book is based on those items. You don't have to use her products to find the book helpful. This book has all the basics for you so its a time saver. The book gives sample ideas but its main purpose is to make things easy for the gardener so its full of pictures, plant information, & how to's. I researched Crawford before buying this book at sideplanting.com. It give a clear idea of her products and methods. I did look at other container books but this was simple to do & follow. One stop shop sort of. We used the recommended plants in our other large containers as well but none of her products. We took the book plant shopping with us in case what we wanted was not available and that was a huge help.We are in the high plains desert of Colorado. Not the easiest place to garden let alone container garden. We have a short growing season as well as being hot and dry. You soak the container thoroughly but the payoff is in how infrequently we had to do it once things where established. 2-3 days between watering is unheard of here but this was only with Crawfords products. We will be changing how we do our other containers.We liked it all so well we give the book and a window box as a gift that was very well received.

Tells you EVERYTHING you need to know to create successful containers. I also bought one of the containers from Kinsman.com she suggested and I’m trilled with that purchase as well.

I've purchased her containers and this is the perfect companion book. I'm glad that she's done the testing already to determine which plants are a success, and those that you can use at your own risk to experiment with. For those who have rated the book low because it is specific to Pamela Crawford's, "Instant Container Gardens," it is afterall the title of the book, and Amazon lets you take a preview. I think its a well written book and love that she has photos for reference.

If you are looking for a book that provides ideas for the design and the plants that will do well in a container garden this is a great resource. The photographs are a great visual guide and the plants are listed by name. Makes it really easy to go to your local garden center to pick out the plants. If you are just starting out or a seasoned gardener this is a really good resource book.

Great book with great idea's, hopefully I can find somewhere in the UK to purchase the containers, otherwise I need to find a good engineering company to make them
