This book was not new
Purchased the book as "new" but it came with writing on the back inside cover and a coupon for Home Depot, with someone's name and address on it, that expired in 2013. The book was in good condition otherwise. I just wish it was actually new.

Low Five, high Four. Interesting Fun Book
Here are the cons to buying this book-Many of the things in this book you can easily find directions for online (for example, tie dying a shirt). You have to know to search for them though, and that is where this book comes in handy.Another con is that some of these projects can get downright expensive. Not all of the projects are expensive, some of them are cheap (for example, tie dying a shirt). Some of these projects are more difficult than I really am capable of doing. One thing to be aware of is that not all of these are age appropriate for one set age. In other words, some of the projects are better suited to an older age and some are suited to a younger age.Overall though, this book is a great resources. My children and I have enjoyed paging through it and looking at the pictures and imagining it and ruling projects in or out based on our ability. There are plans that seem complete. There are color pictures that only add to the text and make the project look do-able.One thing that I really liked is that the pictures show a wide range of ages and both boys and girls working on building the project and using the completed item.Well worth the money. It's a great idea book. It has clear directions and many of the projects are weekend projects.Enjoy.

Cool ideas
This book has some really cool ideas, some require a lot of space. So far my son and I have made our version of the treasure chest. He was super excited about it. Found a typo on page 92 - steps 6 & 7. It says to cut a piece of wood to 9x11.75” and 11.75x20.25”. With 1x12, it actually measures 3/4” by 11 1/4”. So 11.75 means 11.25”

ideas good, directions not so good
This was a birthday gift for daddy in the middle of the winter. Daddy wasn't so excited at first, but they have already built the doll house. Our daughter is lining up the projects for them. The book itself, is not written very well. My husband said if gives you the basics, but you can not follow it step by step. The doll house the instructions are in 1,2,3 and the parts are in A,B,C they don't match. It you have natural skills, the book is good to give you ideas, if you need to provide someone detailed accurate instructions this is not the book.

Great Gift Book
I bought this book for myself when it first came out and also gave a copy as a gift to a friend. Since then I've bought several more and given them as gifts. Everyone who sees it, loves it and is eager to get involved in projects with their kids or grand kids. I really like the variety of the projects and that some are easy for people like me who aren't particularly "handy". The instructions and illustrations are really simple to follow and the finished projects turn out great. I would highly recommend this book for anyone with kids or grand kids, or as a super Father's Day gift.

Great Dad Gift!
Like others, I gave this to my husband for Father's Day. There are many projects ranging from simple to nearly expert. We are in the 'novice' category right now. My husband is just mastering the art of power tools and simple carpentry. (He is a computer geek!)This book gives simple, direct instructions for lots of fun things to do with your kids. I recommend it for any loose ended weekends!

Had the attention of every father in the room
This book is wonderful for any father with a few tools in the garage. I gave it as a gift to my brother in law. He loved some of the book's quirks: like this is a 1-beer project. I was really impressed that the projects included those for girls; though, the book clearly is geared towards father and son. I was also impressed by the range of projects: you could give this book to a new father, and he would have projects to work with through his child's adolescence. In short -- this is a very good idea that is very well executed.

Great Resource
Both myself and my children love pouring through this book for a spot of weekend project inspiration and instruction. All I need now is a bigger garden to build the zip line!

Love it!
So many great ideas on projects to do with the kids. I love the breakdown on how much skill and time is required to compete each project.
