First off, I bought these in the Amazon Prime Day sales for £70 which is a total bargain. I would not consider myself an audiophile and if you are then you will probably want to invest more money into your headphones but the quality on these should suit most people. Very clear sound and I've picked up sound that I've never heard before on tracks I listen to often. I found these when looking for open backed headphones, partly because I want to be aware of my surroundings when I'm wearing them and partly so they don't make my ears feel as hot as my older headphones. Another benefit was that they feel more like listening to speakers rather than just being blasted into my ears but that could be personal preference. The open backed nature does mean there is sound leakage, both for you hearing external sound but also others being able to hear your music, so that's something you will need to consider for your usage. Very comfortable to wear for longer periods of time partially due to being lightweight though maybe not as portable as folding headphones would be but I don't need that. Very easy to use, no controls on the headphones so controlled completely through whatever you plug them into. In the box you get a 1.2m cable with a 3.5mm jack plug and a 3m cable with a 6.3mm jack plug, however there is also a 6.3mm to 3.5mm adapter included so you can still use the longer cable with devices that have a 3.5mm socket. The adapter makes the plug quite long so maybe not a great solution if you intend to use it with a portable device like a phone. The leads have a twist and lock mechanism to secure them into the headphones which is fantastic but you will need to be aware of that if you intend to swap over to the 3m cable. Overall, with the considerations I've given above, I would fully recommend these headphones for people wanting wired open back headphones without paying hundreds of pounds. Especially great value if you can pick them up on sale.

I brought these headphones about a month ago and decided not to review them until I'd spent at least 10 or so hrs using them, listening to a range of music ,rock, pop, jazz but mainly classical. So far I've found them very comfortable even when I've used them for listening sessions over 3 hrs or so. The sound is nicely balanced thru the frequencies and the sound is spread over the wide 'sound field'. They are a bit big and bulky (but light in weight), Also they don't fold and allow a lot of sound escape. So they're the not ideal for travelling but better suited for home use. The construction of the phones are mostly plastic but they well built and robust. These headphones are the best phones I've ever owned (so far) and considering what I paid for them (about £70). THEY ARE A STEAL. Foot note. Allow a few hrs of listening through these head phones to allow your hearing and brain to get used to the sound they make and also for the transducers to 'bed in' and loosen up a bit. The sound really do's seem to improve and get smoother as you them. To my ears anyway. -

I have given these a good few hours listening to run in before posting a review. I have mostly listened to heavy rock and metal. I bought the HD599 SE headphones in a Prime Day deal. For £70, I thought it was worth a punt to own my first Sennheisers. They are mostly plastic and look a bit cheap, but are comfortable to wear and they fit nicely over my glasses without causing discomfort. I found that even at only 50 Ohms impedance, they are difficult to drive with a Samsung phone. I have to have the volume almost at maximum to get a half decent listening level, and the sound quality is rather flat and not engaging at all. Next, I used a headphone amp on an Audiolab DAC, and there is a huge improvement in sound quality, but they are nowhere near as good as my Sony XM5's which were almost five times the price, and active, so not a fair comparison really. I found an EQ preset for the HD599's built into the Plexamp app, and now they sound so much better. I copied the EQ settings and created a preset in my Wiim Mini streamer, which is connected to the Audiolab DAC (the new D7), so after some initial disappointmemt, I have found a use for the HD599 SE headphones, and I am happy with the sound quality. I have had the HD600's recommended to me, so I will keep the 599's while I save up. My advice to others would be that these are worth buying if you have a low budget, if they are heavily discounted, if you have a headphone amplifier, and if you are prepared to play around with EQ. EDIT: After a few more hours of listening, I now prefer the sound without the EQ! Increased rating from 3 to 4 stars.

These headphones have proved a strong upgrade on similar budget brands. I use with a 1970s amp, playing records, CD and streaming. They are comfortable even wearing glasses for lengthy periods. Audio is clear through the range and bass is punchy.

I bought these because I don't have a pair of open back headphones for studio or general hifi use. They were sitting in my cart for about a week or so priced at £89.99. Yesterday morning they had been further reduced to £64.99! Anyway, to the important bit! The have a wide soundstage, nice treble that's smooth. The mids are just right, not fatiguing. The bass is just about right flat, I've eq'd it down as the music I listen to is bass heavy. I listen to Psychill, classic metal, classic rock, the odd bit of classical and jazz. It's nice to be able to pick out details in the music you hadn't heard before! I use either a Hidizs dac dongle or a FIIO BTR3 with my phone. I own about 5 pairs of over or on ear wired cans. They might be a solid choice for mixing your home recordings or mastering. I wouldn't use them for recording as they bleed a bit. I use a pair of AKG 271's for recording as they are voiced for that, but are really not that good for listening to music as they aren't voiced for that. These would also be a good choice for gaming due to the level of detail they are able to reproduce. If you can get them for £64.99 then but them, they retail at £180 for the most part. For any prospective buyers, they are Amazon rebrands of the 599's. They're exactly the same. In summary, they make me want to listen to music, they're really quite inspiring. If you're listen to music that has a lot of panning like I do, then you're in for a real treat. The only thing I done like is the 2.5mm to 6.35mm cable. What were you thinking Sennheiser? I also don't know if they support 4mm balanced cable nonsense because I'm not that much of a boring twatty nerd! For £65 they're a steal and an excellent entry to the audiophile nerdling world!

Very nice and also easy to power. I own better headphones and dacs/amps but these are some of the best headphones you can just plug into a laptop/phone anywhere and get a great experience for everything from music to gaming etc. It's a legendary set of headphones, incredibly comfortable and warm/easy to listen to tuning. You can literally fall asleep with them on they're that comfortable

Good sound from these phones. Nice light trebles and good bass response from these comfortable phones. Good value with a long straight cable, I'm not a fan of coiled because of the tension created. The sound is in my head not in my ears..., there's nothing not to like especially for longer listen sessions.

I am no stranger to decent heapdhones in this price range, I have previously owned V-Moda Crossfade LP2's, BeyerDynamic Custom One Pro's, and most recenty BeyerDynamic DT 770 Pro's (80 ohm), which was a couple of years ago. Due to a lack of funds, since then I have been using a couple of cheap pairs of Bluetooth headphones (OneOdio and now Tribit, both under £35 each). I had done quite a bit of research and read many reviews for the best open back headphones for around £100, and these seemed to suite my needs best, great for music but also very good for watching films/TV. Out of the box, I wasn't that impressed. The bass is quite good, not 'ear thumping', just nice, tight and realistic, and the highs were 'OK', nothing special, but the mids just sounded off, especially vocals. It was like someone singing from around the corner, just not clear at all. I thought "Well, they haven't been run in at all, so lets try later". I left them connected to my MP3 player playing for 3 days straight. So, 72 hours or play time, that should loosen them up a bit, maybe they'll sound a bit better... Nope, just as bad. Not only couldn't they match any previous £100'ish headphones I've had in the past, they didn't even sounds as good as the £25 Tribit Bluetooth headphones I've been using. The Tribit may be a little bass heavy, but it doesn't ruin the mids or highs, both or which are far clearer and sharper than on these HD599's. Those tests were with music, but connected to the TV they were even worse. Speech was so hard to hear clearly I had to resort to reading subtitles sometimes to be sure of what was being said. It's a shame, as these are by far the most comfortable over ear headphones I've ever tried. Nice and light, and the velour pads are soft and feel great on the head. They are just let down by the sound quality, which I expected to be a lot better. So, it's either back to a pair of Beyer DT770 Pro's, which I know are good for my uses, or try something else. EDIT: I picked up a 2nd hand pair of AKG K550 (1st gen) for £50, and they are pretty much spot on for sound quality. Slightly warmer sounding than neutral, but mids and highs are still nice and clear. A little on the heavy side, but still comfortable to wear for long periods. Closed back, so soundstage isn't as good as a nice pair of open back headphones, but good enough for me. Nice proper memory foam ear pads too, though not sure if they came with them originally or the previous owner bought them as replacement.

¿Que decir de estos cascos que me tiene enamorado desde hace años? Pues solamente maravillas. Compre hace unos 8 años el modelo anterior de los HD599 en color crema y hasta hoy funcionan a las mil maravillas, hasta podría decir que ''han madurado'' y se escuchan mejor que sonaban aunque imagino que sea algo totalmente subjetivo. En su día los compré junto a una tarjeta de sonido externa SoundBlaster Recon 3D para conectar a una XBox 360 y el sonido que conseguía en los juegos era espectacular, un acierto en el combo. Para la música los usaba conectados directamente a un iPod y en un PC y siempre me sorprendian con el sonido claro y en el que puedo escuchar claramente los matices de las músicas. No los recomiendo para amantes de los bajos tipo Beats, estos Sennheiser son más balanceados. Hace 2 años adquirí unos Sennheiser Momentum M2-AEBT Ivory para mis viajes y aunque también estoy encantado con ellos por su ''practicidad'' de ser inalambricos y la reducción de ruido, que cuando subes a un avión y te toca en el asiento del ala cerca de los reactores es increible como anula los sonidos constantes, de verdad es la forma que más he apreciado la eficacia de la reducción de ruido, con sonidos constantes, aun asi prefiero el sonido y la comodidad de los HD599, soy un poco-bastante cabezón, uso gafas y los Momentum me aprietan un poco, en una cabeza normal no creo que den problema. Ayer he visto la promoción de este modelo nuevo de Sennheiser HD599 ES a unos módicos 100 euros y no he dudado en comprarlos de nuevo, viajo bastante y vivo entre 2 casas y asi tengo unos en cada una de ellas. En cuanto al primer contacto los he notado un poco más robustos y más cómodos que el modelo anterior, aparte del cabezón tengo unas buenas orejas y las cubren perfectamente y podría decir que son algo más ligeros también. Ayer estube más de 4 horas con ellos puestos y ni te enteras que los llevas encima. Los he probado durante toda la tarde de ayer y hoy por la mañana y aunque aun les falta ''madurar'' unos días, el sonido continua fiel a los anteriores. Los estoy probando conectados directamente a un portatil con los codecs de audio de Windows Sonic para auriculares, cuando escucho música, y el Dolby Atmos, cuando juego juegos y veo películas y el sonido que estan sacando es muy muy bueno, probad a escuchar el tema ''Madness'' de Muse con los ojos cerrados... Espectacular!!! Hoy en dia tengo una tarjeta de sonido externa SoundBlaster G5 que uso a modo de DAC y me resulta versatil para juegos y música aunque aun no los he probado conectados en la tarjeta. Estoy seguro de que estos cascos conectados a un DAC tipo FiiO dejará a más de uno con la boca abierta. ¿Recomiendo su compra? Creo que estamos ante uno de los mejores cascos relación calidad-precio del mercado acercándose a cascos que estaán con precios muy superiores, hasta de la misma marca como pueden ser los Sennheiser 660S que estan a casi 4 veces más el valor de estos, con esta oferta. Asi que si aun teniais alguna duda... Corred Insensatos!!!

This will be a bit of a more extensive review, though if you only care about if you should buy it my answer would be - As long as your in the market for STUDIO / MONITOR headphones YES. If your not familiar with the expression studio or monitor maybe look at a different product though. Pros: 1. "True Sound" - The Headphones seem to have a rather flat response curve. While i didn't do any Lab testing myself, i compared them to other headphones i have around from Bose, Corsair, Sony, JBL etc. and they by far seem to give the most "true sound" out of all of them. 2. Comfortable - They are very comfortable to wear. I do have rather large ears which also stick out quite a bit, despite that i had no Issues with them so far 3. Price to performance - While I know i could get better headphones for more money, these seem to have one of the best price to performance ratios out there. I also own the Sennheiser HD 560S and while i do prefer them, If you get the 599 on sale (I got them for 80€) This is a deal you really cant pass on. 4. The Built Quality - Cons: 1. Depending on your existing hardware you might not fully be able to profit from their audio capabilities. Make sure your soundcard / audio Interface or inbuilt sound chip is able to properly drive them. 2. While this wasn't an Issue for me some people might dislike the Cables delivered with them. While the 6.35mm Audio Jack Cable (or TRS if you wanna be fancy) is rather long you will need to use the chunky adapter that comes with the headphones to go down to 3.5mm if you don't have a 6,35 port on your device. The Headphones do come with a 3.5mm cable as well though that is significantly shorter so be warned if that is a dealbreaker for you. Final Verdict: If your looking for a studio/monitor headphones and are looking for a great price to performance instead of the best sound quality man as ever witnessed no matter the price, these seem to do a fantastic job. 5/5 Stars can recommend !

多分、使った初日と1週間後で評価が変わる製品だとおもいます わたしは聴き始めは、高音、中音がこもって聴こえて、高い製品なのに少し微妙だなと思いました ただ、しばらく使うと高音、中音がクリアなのではなく、丸く優しく聴こえてるんだと感じるようになりました このヘッドホンは、「音楽を聴いてテンション上げたい」時に使うと物足りないヘッドホンだと思うんです ただ、夜にお風呂入ってベッドで横になってゆっくり音楽を聴きたい時に、HD599でクラシックやバラード曲を聞くと、装着感もソフト、音質もソフトなのですごいリラックスできます リラックスして聞くと音の広がりもスゴく気持ちいいです 音を楽しんでテンションを上げるヘッドホンとしては適してませんが、ゆっくりリラックスして音楽に浸るには最適なヘッドホンだと思います

I really don’t understand the few negative reviews on these headphones. I’ve always had Sennheisers and these are the first open back, which take a little getting used to. But if I want complete silence I’ll grab my noise canceling cans. The SE599’s are light and perfectly comfortable. Sound is great, unlike other Sennheisers these definitely have more mid bass which is fine. Easy to pull a little out of the mix of it’s not your thing. The mids and highs are not harsh at all and in all a very balanced headphone. Hard to beat for the price.

These headphones are the best budget headphones you'll find. Comparing these to Sennheiser 660s2, the 660s2 are just very slightly better over all, and more than triple the price.
