yes - bare metal has a covering. I'm using on an outdoor bench

Not sure, but my wife and I both sit on our bench without issue and combined we're about 400 lbs.

As I recall they do make taller legs. Just not sure of the height.

They are very sturdy. They have screw holes to screw in your base product. I make end tables and coffee tables with these. My customers who purchase them love the look and how sturdy they are.
