Absolutely stunning recipes. Her lemon cake, fudge sauce, etc are OUT of this world. I grew up with my mom making her desserts, and I'm a huge fan. Highly, highly recommend this for all dessert enthusiasts

Packed with recipes from the introduction to the very last page, her tried and true recipes run the gambit from simple deliciousness to the most exotic fares. Picture this: Big Sur Chocolate Chip Cookies, Savarin, Cuban Banana Bread, or the Best Damn Lemon Cake! Each recipe has a story to go with it. Her recipes are easy to read, carefully written with tips and tools, and cover standard ingredients, as well as exotic ones she's found to be favorites. While I love pictures, and step by step photos, this book is a gem I won't part with! Indeed, I intend to purchase her entire library!! Wow, thank you Maida Heatter for thinking of dessert lovers everywhere!!

This book is such a find! I owned a copy when it was first published and used it religiously. A friend talked me into loaning it, then they moved and that's the last I ever saw of it. So, when I finally decided to hunt it down and re-purchase....I didn't hesitate. I not only enjoy the great recipes, but the exact instructions and stories that go with some of these make it an enjoyable read. I'm so glad to have this back in my kitchen, where I can guarantee, it never remains on the shelf.

Some of my favorite recipes come from Maida Heatter's cookbooks. This book did not disappoint me. Her recipes are long but easy to follow. I love her story about each recipe.

Check out apple bread pudding , key lime i.e., cranberry nut bread . Make your family happy with fruit laden cakes (not just traditional fruitcakes) at Christmas . Very explicit directions "this cake cracks in the middle " , "Lline the pan with buttered aluminum foil" . Even less experienced bakers will do well. No more wondering if the many calories and dollars are all for nothing

Not acceptable condition.. Tear in front cover and dirty..Pages feel not in tact.. inside first page looks like something had been sitting on it for ages to cause major discoloration. page terrible faded. Very unhappy with purchase!

Maida can do no wrong. She explains exactly where to put your racks in the oven, why you need to mix this before that, right down to the nitty-gritty. Wonderful. I have several of her books on various topics and never fail to learn something new after my decades of baking. All the recipes turn out exactly as presented. She is very thorough. Makes gourmet look like everyday comfort food.
