I purchased 2 Lake Superior Agate Field Guide, and I’m ever glad I did! I picked up a copy for my parents and I will definitely buy more for my siblings. Growing up on the shore of Lake Superior my parents taught us how to find agates and as a family we all still enjoy it.This guide will be perfect for the expect AND the beginner. The photographs are beautiful and it is the perfect size for the beach! We will definitely have a few copies ready for guests. What would make a better gift for a visitor? Many friends have caught the agate bug while on beach with my family!Bravo on a rock guide for rock hounds and beginners alike!

Great little book to help you identify agates! I like that it even identifies areas where you can find the various varieties. Because I’m a beginner rockhound, I really had no idea how many varieties there were and I learned a lot from the book.

liked the maps that showed where certain agates might be found; wished for pictures of unpolished agates in the raw, to better identify them when looking for them.

Lake Superior Agate Field Guide is GREAT! A fun activity to share with kids. And the book makes me look so smart in front of my grandkiddos! Very fast service, too.

Good specific guide. Similar in format to the state rock and mineral guides by Adventure Publications. Good introductory information in front. Each entry includes a photo, map, info about common or rareness, and description. Only complaint is most pictures are polished specimens. Field pictures would be more useful for collecting. However the polished pictures good for identifying cleaned up rocks.

It's a good book. I thought I needed it. I don't. I'm happier with they're Superior rocks book.

Great field guide. I have 3 other field guides made by the same people. They have a ton of information and pictures. Shows locations of where you generally find the rocks.
