GHmarine 70941A3 Water Pump Impeller Kit for Mercury Outboar...

Worked great on my mercury two stroke4hp.

Fit my 1977 Mercury 110 nicely and works great. Such a squirter now 💦💦 Some instructions and or a cut sheet would've been helpful though.

I bought this kit to replace the waterpump on my 1985 Mercury 7.5. The waterpump kit is listed as 46-70941A3, so when I cross referenced this kit, I bought it. The kit comes with the top oil seal, which is less important because it is over the waterpump, and in theory shouldnt interact with the oil/water barrier. The important seal is the waterpump base seal that actually stops water from getting into the oil and vise versa. This does not come with the kit. When I realized it didn't, I looked up the parts for this. Marineengine lists two possible seals for this location. Luckily, we have a marine supply store locally that stocks these. I went in and bought both(authentic mercury parts). You are supposed to use a mandrel to press the oil seal into the base, but the dimensions are wrong and neither of the OEM parts work with this base. You can see in the photo the old waterpump base with seal inserted. The 2 new seals and new waterpump base are on the right, and they do not fit. The waterpump base is completely useless without the lower oil seal(unless you like water in your gear oil) so I'm not able to use it at all. Thankfully, my original base is still in somewhat working order. I will have to reuse it, but it makes the purchase of the waterpump basically a throwaway. I would encourage folks doing this repair to not make the mistake I made. Please don't be lured by the cheaper off brand, and purchase an OEM part.

Good kit, only complaint is I had to reuse one piece from my old water pump because the little rubber piece that connects to the pickup tube was way too small for the opening on the pump. Not sure why. Luckily the old one was still serviceable.

Save yourself the headache and buy OEM. Spent 3 days wrenching and over a hundred bucks in gaskets and parts because it would not pump water after this kit was installed. Lower unit pulled and inspected x12, after obtaining OEM impeller, replaced impeller and used original pump housing, as after examining this kit casing, it was not built to the same specs. Put back together and tested in tank with drill 1st, pumped wonderfully, installed lower unit and tested in barrel, works like it should. Would not recommend this kit.

All the parts were great except the impeller. Rubber was cheap and wouldn’t pump water, took it out and there were two small tears on two if the fins and they seemed to stay disfigured when taken out. Had to purchase another impeller from different vendor and pumps fine now.

GH marine contacted me providing a solution. I would buy from them again. It was simply a an out of round part they get 5 stars for service I believe the impeller was out of round. Used calipers to measure and it was a the correct size but would not slide over the shaft. Replacement ordered and measured. Slipped in place with no issues
