Works on tight calves (painful insertion achilles pain), but a bit pricey.
My experience with the strassburg sock was similar to the other reviewers. It was a bit uncomfortable with the way it pulls your toes back (I wonder if they could put something semi-stiff in there so it pulls on the ball of your foot rather than the toes), but a month later, I'm rather pleased with how it has loosened up the calf stretch on the leg in question. It seems to have addressed my problem. My problem: Having achilles pain on the back of my heel (around 1-2cm from the ground) during my first steps on the ground after I get out of bed. I'm a runner, and the problem is linked to having tight calves. There are ways to address tight calves, and the sock seems to prevent them from getting tight while I sleep. Hopefully, aggressive smr can prevent future achilles problems. Thoughts on the sock: I think a stiff brace (plastic or otherwise) would be annoying, although it should be good at pulling at the forefoot rather than the toes. The sock is nice in that it doesn't really restrict the way you arrange your legs as you sleep, and it's light weight and softness prevent it from banging or injuring your other limbs like a hard brace would. I think it's most comfortable if you put the sock over your pajama legs rather than underneath. $40 is a lot for an elastic sock with a strap sewn between the reinforced toe and the calf band, but it seems to work. Tips: The strap around the calf: I found it most comfortable (and no less effective) to fasten the calf strap loosely--it's best not to cut any circulation. The pull-back strap: I found that you want to adjust it so that it gives some tension, but not a maximum stretch. While wearing the sock, you should be able to pull your foot back just a bit more (and give the strap an inch or so of slack). When I tightened more than that (holding the foot at a full stretch), I woke up in the middle of the night with some pain and had to remove the sock.

Plantar fasciitis
So I have mixed reviews with this one. This says that it fits a calf size up to a certain number mine would be under that number unfortunately I ordered the regular size and my calves were suffocating. I ended up returning here and going and finding the larger size now although they're still not comfortable because now I've got a baggy bottom they still do exactly what they need to do to help with the plantar fasciitis. So if you're looking for something to help with the pain this is totally it. Are you a regular or large you may have to test and find out

Hard to believe but..
It works! Or at least it’s working for me. I’ve been dealing with plantar fasciitis since May 2025. It has really taken a toll on me and besides the physical pain, the metal suffering of wondering if I’ll ever return to normal. I’ve spent thousands on every little tool you can buy, seen a podiatrist, had a steroid shot, Accupuncture, worn the hard boot at night, stretch , do foot exercises and have been going to PT since September. PT helped for a bit but last week the pain was really bad despite doing my exercises daily. A new PT recommended trying this sock and I figured why not. I tried the hard boot last summer but had a difficult time doing more than 20 minutes at a time because my foot would go numb. This sock is easy enough to get into that I don’t dread it and I like that I can move around on the couch more than I can with the boot. I’ve been wearing it in the evenings for about 3 nights now(not sleeping in it, just about 2-3 hours before bed) and I can’t believe how much better my pain is. I think it’s more effective because I can tolerate it for longer. I will continue wearing and hopefully increase my time. This is the most hopeful I’ve felt in a long time!! I recommend giving it a try! Compared to all the other things out there it’s pretty cost effective. The only thing to note is when I put the Velcro too tight my big toe goes numb, so I just adjust and make sure it’s in a place I can maintain for a few hours. Great tool for plantar fasciitis relief!!!

Really effective for PF but uncomfortable at first
I've had plantar fascitis a decade ago and I'm sorry to say it's back! The night splint sock was an effective treatment then and my old Strassburg sock needed to be replaced. The sock has been redesigned. The velcro wrap that goes around the upper leg is extra long so there is a 6" piece that just hangs down after the wrap is fastened. Are you supposed to trim this to fit? There is no mention in the instructions. It takes a while to get used to wearing the sock at night. I am a petite woman and be advised that the upper edge is very tight and it's best to position it right below the knee. The first night it slipped lower and I had a marked indentation in my leg for the next 3 hours. Not good for blood circulation! Despite all that, the Strassburg is my go-to. I tried other anle length splints that were not effective at all at keeping the foot bent rigidly.

Small looking but expandable.
They look smaller than they really are, but they stretch a lot. I didn't think they were going to fit me, but they are fine. I like the fastening strap around the knee because it's short, and it won't damage my bed sheets. Nice and comfortable, although tight, but usable.

Works as advertised--immediately eliminates the "painful first step"
I had a stubborn case of plantar fasciitis in my right foot for the last six months and nothing seemed to help. I got custom orthotics and special shoes, did physical therapy exercises, rolled my foot on a frozen water bottle, tried compression socks, etc. The one thing I didn't try was the hard plastic night splint that my podiatrist sold me. No matter how I adjusted it, it felt like a medieval torture device. I couldn't wear it for more than fifteen minutes at a time, and I certainly couldn't sleep in it. Then I tried the Strassburg Sock. It pulled my toes back so that my foot remained in a flexed position, but did so gently and comfortably. I could sleep in it easily, and wear it whenever I sat for a long period of time, sitting at the computer, for example, or watching TV. I found that using it that way immediately eliminated the "painful first step" I experienced when I got up in the morning, or after watching TV for a couple of hours. The package says that that according to a large, peer-reviewed research study the average recovery time was 18.5 days. I got significant relief after about a week, and a month later I am 90% better. I will continue wearing it at night until I feel no pain in my foot. I had no problem with fit. My calf measured about 15" around, and the 16-inch sock fit fine, without feeling too loose or too tight. I found that I did not have to tighten the calf strap too much to keep the toe pulled back enough. You don't have to get it into a tight "L" position like the hard plastic night splint positions the foot. Just pulling the toe back somewhat is enough to stretch the plantar fascia and provide relief. $40 may seem like a lot for a sock, but the relief I got was priceless

So-So....
This was the third in a series of four different night splints I have bought to help relieve the pain of plantar fasciitis in my right foot. I bought it because it was recommended to me by a friend. It cleared up her pain in just a week of wearing it. I hate that it's a long sock and that it leaves red marks, or indentations on your skin, up by your knee, even though they are temporary. It's a bit uncomfortable, which I wouldn't mind so much if it worked better for my. Although I think it did a good job stretching the tendon, I feel like when I turned on my side to sleep (I am not a back sleeper), my toes came forward, which defeated the whole purpose of this product. This is a good splint for when you are at rest, watching TV, reading a book, etc and it never caused my toes hurt or go numb like some of the other splints, but sleeping with it on wasn't that effective, for me, anyway. Also, the velcrow often sticks to the nylon part of the sock, causing little "catches" in the material, which has no effect on how the sock works, but it's just kind of annoying. If I could, I would return this product. It just work didn't that well for me, but for the person who recommended to me, she couldn't say enough good things about it. I think if you are a person who sleeps on their back all night, this sock might do the trick. I found a different splint I like much better, but it has its pros and cons too.

Effective treatment
I am a long distance runner, and developed plantar fasciitis after a very hilly half marathon that I ran recently. I had felt some tightness in my arch during training (40+ mi a week), but after the race I developed daily heel pain. At first, this pain was too much to bear while running. I did some research, and found that stretching, rest, and a night splint were the only realistic options. Stretching is easy, but I did not want to take any time off running. That left me with the night splint option. A hard splint seemed too uncomfortable, so I chose the Strassburg sock. I have been wearing it every night for the past three weeks. I've also worn it around the house if I am just watching TV or on the computer. It is easy enough to get around in. The pain has not completely gone away, but it has improved. I am able to run daily, with minimal pain. If I do not run for a few days and wear the sock at night, the pain will be almost all gone, but will return after a hard workout. I feel that if I took a long enough break from running, my foot would completely heal. However, I am too impatient to do this. As far as comfort goes, I find it very easy to wear and walk in. This is a benefit over any hard splint. I do not find that it gets too warm while sleeping, although it can make some sleeping positions difficult. The Velcro is a minor downside, as it can get caught on linens. Overall, I would say that it is worth a try if you have plantar fasciitis. It is comfortable, not too expensive, and can provide some immediate pain relief. You can also wear it on the other foot if that one goes bad!

Funziona davvero!
Semplicemente magica! Consigliatissima!

It works
I've read the reviews and was a bit skeptical but I've used the sock and my foot pain has eased from the first day I slept with it. It's surprisingly comfortable and easy to use. I'm a short person (5 ft 1) and thought it might not fit, but it does. I didn't pull the velcro too much and didn't feel any pain in my toes as some customers did, so that was good too.

Noticed a difference on the 3rd day when it came to pain reduction. After 3 weeks I took it off. 2 weeks after that I am pain free back to jumping rope and running. Amazing device.
