Yeast Extract Vegan Spread, 600 g Tub

If you're fed up with constantly buying smaller jars, super-sized marmite is the way to go. Lasts a good six weeks for a family of four- including multiple rounds eaten by the teenager. It's the same great taste and consistency but much better value.

You’ll Love It. Or You’re Wrong. Marmite isn’t just a spread—it’s a personality test. If you love it, you really love it, and this 600 g tub is basically a long-term commitment. One taste and you’re in: salty, savory, deeply umami, and completely unapologetic about it. A little goes a long way (seriously—respect the spread), and it’s perfect on toast, crumpets, with butter, or stirred into cooking when you want instant flavor magic. It’s vegan, packed with B vitamins, and somehow both comforting and polarizing at the same time. I’ve seen friendships tested over Marmite, but I’ve also seen breakfasts saved. Is it for everyone? Absolutely not. Is it for the chosen few? Definitely. If you already love Marmite, this tub is a dream. If you don’t… well, more for us.

I’m a lover not a hater. Good value compared to supermarkets, and in an easy to access pot.

Less wastage than jar

I never used to think I liked Marmite until someone told me that this is the flavour that is used to cover tree twigs to make my favourite salty snack, Twiglets. It was only then that I realised that actually I do like Marmite, quite a lot. Few can take it or leave it and most have strong opinions when it comes to the black stuff and I am firmly in the camp of being a believer. Other imitations, including the slightly insipid Australian Vegemite just do not cut it for me and it has to the be real thing. Throughout the past year I have been stoic and pragmatic and have raised an eyebrow at those who have been panic buying such commodities as toilet roll, canned fruit and pasta during the coronavirus pandemic and considered that I am made of sterner stuff than people who see the need to partake in this collective paranoia. That was until I read a newspaper article that informed me that due to the reduction in beer (that is proper ale, not that fizzy lager stuff) due to the pubs being closed, there is a shortage of brewers yeast which is used as an ingredient in, you guessed it, Marmite. Now this might have been a clever marketing campaign by the folk at Unilever but, quite frankly, I was not willing to take the risk. A visit to my local supermarket confirmed that the shelves that previously stocked my favourite brown elixir were depleted and I felt a coldness on the back of my neck which is associated with blind panic. There was only one thing for it and that was to go on line to see if I could get as large a consignment of salty yeast extract as possible, Thankfully, this super sized pot as delivered in a day and should last be at least a few weeks. I have retained the glass jars of normal sized Marmite too and spoon the guey substance into the jar. It is quite a messy business but it does give me the excuse of licking the residue from my fingers afterwards, and the outside of the jar too. Now I know I can buy this in catering size containers I will never be short of Marmite again.

You will definitely have to transfer the product into a different container especially if you notice leakage or you might end up losing 20-30% of the product when storing through the seal surrounding the bottom plastic part of the container. The spread is a little bit runnier than the marmite we all know and love but it doesn’t skimp out at all on the flavour. It’s still the same good ol salty savoury flavour with the same amount of proportion. I didn’t takeoff any stars for this because I’m still as satisfied with the purchase as I would be if I went out and bought it from the store I just wish I wasn’t too lazy to transfer into a container immediately

Great addition to add flavor to a sandwich. Tub was securely packaged for transit. Expiry date for tub is Feb 2027 (always a worry as it could be a lot sooner, before we might finish the tub).
