Has a quality feel for sure- and it knots well. I was curious how they achieved the stated strength, and when I tested it against the Trouthunter, it did win in knot failure....but there was something strange. So I measured it. Sure enough- the Cortland product does not measure to spec. 5X material is actually 4X when you measure it, and 4X measures 3X diameter. No wonder it's stronger- it's not what the package says it is.

This is the finest tippet material ever made. I have used nearly everything on the market and nothing compares to the strength of cortland tippet. I have been using it for nearly 6 months now. I have bought every size they make. Since using it I have only broken off of 1 fish. If I get snagged on a rock in the river and believe breaking off is the only option, my hook usually bends out or breaks before my tippet does. This is a must buy if you fly fish!!!

I bought mine from my local fly shop instead of Amazon, but based on a previous review I just got out the digital calipers to do some measurements. The spool of 4X that I have is .007, exactly what 4X should be. My spool of 5X is .005.5, even smaller than the standard .006 for 5X. Great strength and knot strength. It's too expensive, but it functions well.
