The book progresses logically from basic to advanced techniques, using practical examples that make the content engaging and relevant. **Logical Structure** The book is well-organized into four main sections: the nature of argument, the structure of argument, the techniques of argument, and the application of argument. This structure aids comprehension and allows readers to build their skills progressively. **Practical Insights** The focus on practical application sets this book apart. Trachtman provides actionable advice with checklists, summaries, and exercises at the end of each chapter to reinforce learning and ensure readers can apply the techniques. **Engaging Style** Trachtman's writing is clear and approachable, avoiding overly technical jargon. His use of humor and personal anecdotes makes the content more relatable and easier to understand. **Versatile Application** While tailored for the legal field, the book's lessons extend to various professions and everyday situations. Trachtman's clear explanations and practical advice make this book a useful addition to any library. I recommend it for lawyers, students, and anyone interested in effective argumentation. Review: Practical Guide to Stronger Legal Reasoning - This book provides a clear and engaging explanation of how effective lawyers analyze issues, build arguments, and respond to opposing positions. The examples make complex reasoning techniques easier to understand and apply beyond the courtroom. It is useful for law students, professionals, and anyone who wants to communicate more persuasively. A valuable and practical read.

The best book for any person who wants to understand how ...
The best book for any person who wants to understand how American Courts work! At times we all ask questions like "How can this criminal get off on technicalities if it is obvious that he/she committed crime?", or "How can this be fair?" or "How can a lawyer defend this "bad guy/girl"? This is totally wrong! He/she is a criminal!" The author explains the difference between law and common sense, law and ethics, understanding of crime in legal terms and in laymen words. The book closely examines the logical reasoning of the law professionals , demonstrating the "tricks" used in court rooms. Fascinating reading!!! WARNING: the book will not prepare you to go to court and defend your case! This is not a "how-to" manual for folks who are planning to go to court. Hire a lawyer if need be. However, if you want to learn how to present and defend your point (any point, not just legal issues) as an intelligent and convincing person, this book is for you! Chances are, by the time you are done with debating your next case, your opponents will at least respect your opinion (or hate your guts, which still might give you some satisfaction). This book is for anyone who wants to boost up their skills in logical persuasion, finding loopholes in opponent's logical reasoning. Lots of interesting and valuable information for a pretty small price! It is written in a short and clear format: each chapter discusses specific idea, giving examples from court cases and average daily life (parent-child, husband-wife, employee-supervisor), concluding with a practical application summary argument vs. counterargument. So, no reason to read the entire book from beginning to end. One can just pick any chapter and read about how this or that legal (logical) rule can be applied in daily life.

A layman's guide to thinking like a lawyer.
It's a very good book, but do not expect summer reading here, it has a lot of "legalese" and you will need to translate a lot of terms to get a full understanding of what id being written. Otherwise, very informative.

How the Best Lawyers Think
I have only look around in it. When I read it I am sure it will keep my interest.

Useful for young people considering law as a career, but not for anyone with significant legal experience.
The usefulness of this book depends entirely on the reader's legal experience. If you are thinking about law school, are a first year student, or have no experience in moot court/ mock trial, I can see it being very beneficial, because it lays out basic principles cogently. However, you are anything more than a second-year law student, this book is a bit of a waste of money. The content in the book is basically covered in first year civil procedure, or any basic moot court class you will have done. There is little added insight from a rhetorical perspective. I wouldn't buy it again for myself, but I would give it to a high school debater who is thinking about law as a potential career path.

Great book for someone who wants to learn more about laws
Bought this book as a gift for one of my coworkers. He loved it

Very basic book.
If you're a student, certainly it will enlighten; however, as a practitioner with years of experience it is less appealing.

It is ok but not an extraordinary book.
It is a basic legal book with some tips for negotiating in a legal and non legal sectors. It is not only for lawyers or students in law is possible to read for a layperson. In my opinion, it is useful whether you want to understand some arguments or considerations that lawyers use when they have to go to the court or face a private negotiation. The book does not give you any mysterious secrets or remedies for facing a legal problem, it only gives you some common legal suggestions. Maybe, it will be more useful for laypersons.
