In love with my new palette
Pretty happy with first impressions from unboxing the palette. I received one that is “made in Italy”, as supposed to some other posters who have gotten made in USA or China? Package came with the palette, velvet pouch, some stickers, a small travel brush, and some nice freebies (extra half pans and some generic water brush pens). The metal is substantial, it feels hefty in your hand and high quality. The enamel coating is also nice, I wanted something without exposed metal for clipping in the pans because I was worried about rusting. Hopefully with time this palette will remain rust free! The inside is a nice white matte finish, as a matte surface there’s texture so I will have to test staining, but that’s not a huge issue for me. The outside is a beautiful glossy black, it looks very sleek.Lastly, the middle row fits half pans perfectly. In my picture I’ve put some in the middle row, and with that orientation they sit very snuggly in the palette.Overall I’m very impressed, the palette isn’t cheap but the quality you get is great. I’ll be looking into more whiskey products in the future.

Pricey, but better than cheaper ones.
If I had received this as a gift I would have estimated the price around $35-$45, that's what I think it should cost. But considering that custom boxes approximate to this are over $100, i think it's a compromise worth making if you care about quality. For a metal watercolor palette this size, I really do like using this palette but I'm knocking off two stars because of price, surface, and pan slots. I do love the design and the size, I love the 3 wells and the flat miking area and the metal feels substantial (it's not going to bend in my hands and has heft) BUT it's going to be a nightmare if i ever want to clean out the area that holds the pans, which don't fit snug "shoulder to shoulder" so there'll be lots of wet paint getting underneath i'm sure), so the metal tabs that separate your pans cannot be removed or fidgeted with and you will need the 'v' bars to keep pans in place. The other thing that surprised me was the surface area is matte and not smooth like a Holbein metal palette, so paint mixing on it beads up like on plastic palettes and it stains a lot more readily, takes some scrubbing to lift off, whereas I feel like a metal palette should just be able to be wiped clean.

Great travel palette.
Love this palette. Small enough for travel and very easy to fill. I got another row of pans in the center. Shminke pans fit nice in this palette and you can find them cheaper then the refill pans made for the palette. Love that I can change out my colors easy and quickly. This palette is well made and seems like it will last a very long time.

Would be great if you could open it!
I have been using this palette since Sept. I love the size and the quality, however the problem is that the lid sticks shut and is extremely hard to open!!!! I have yet to find any trick that will help open it and it doesn’t have a lip around it so you cannot get any leverage. There is a TINY protrusion in the middle in front which I assume is to help open it, but you cannot get your thumb or finger underneath it to pry it open. I feel I have wasted 60 dollars.

Not worth the money TO ME!
Overpriced. It is nicely made but, the price is not worth it. I purchased TWO other palettes one larger and smaller than this one for less than the cost of this one. To me, this ISN'T one of those items that you can't go with the cheaper one. There are tons of these around made by other companies that cost a lot less and for me it is worth it to get the best priced one. Perhaps, I might change my mind but for now I'm happy with the other ones I purchased.

Great Heavyweight Palette!!
This is really a great Watercolor Palette! It is a nice size and great for travel or smaller paintings. Mine does have the Whiskey Painters Private Stock on the top of the lid. I took some pictures so that you could compare the size to a full size 24 half pan palette. The rails that hold the half pans are easily removable so you can switch the pans out for different colors. You can also add more colors in the center and I also showed that full pans can fit in there. The full pans will not fit anywhere else because of the dividers. The three wells in the lid are nice and deep for washes and additional mixing. It has a very nice weight to it and because of that, a gust of wind will not flip the lid while plein air painting. The one I received has a perfect paint job, no smudges or smears. It has four feet on the under side, so it sits flush when on a table and the finger ring does not make it wobble. I highly recommend this palette, it might just end your search for the perfect travel palette. It measures 5 5/8 W x 2 3/4 D x 1" H from bottom to the top of the well. Opened it is 8 5/16" D.I hope this review helps others in the search for a great palette!

Good
Good solid palette. Has a good amount of mixing space with deep enough wells for bigger washes. It feels pretty sturdy and should last a while. I wish it were possible to fit whole pans in the slots but there's a metal separator between each space making enough room only for half pans. You could put whole pans in the middle row though. But that's ok, I probably wouldn't have used whole pans anyway. It is a little pricey and there's really nothing you can do with this set that you can't do with a cheaper set. But I like the look of the design and the feel of the metal.

Cavity spacing inaccurate
Pretty disappointed because the metal dividers were not placed properly. On one side of the palette there is too much space so the pan wiggles around. On the other side, one of the cabities is too tight to even insert a pan. For the price, I would expect proper sizing.
