What went went wrong with these? They used to be top quality, the best. The other brand in my local store was gritty and dark in color, awful. When my grocery stopped carrying Bar Harbor brand I ordered a 24 cans here. All of them have been awful. Dark in color all broken up and full of gritty sand. I live in New England and make chowder almost weekly, I'm very aware of what in these cans. These newest ones are Very Disappointing. I went tp my local store and bought the other brand to compare. The now the better ones with no grit. What is going on? Its like there was a label switch. I won't be buying these Bar Harbor ones again.

Recipe for clam chowder recommended this brand, which I had never tried. Tasty and already cut up. Time saver for me, which I loved. Husband loved it and has requested I make it again, already.

I have bought the standard supermarket clams (in my area) for years. I find that Bar Harbor has no sulfurous undertones and gives a nice flavor. Mostly use them for recipes for red or white clam sauce or a pantry clam chowder, and they turn out great. Also use Bar Harbor bottled clam juice.
