Finally - a loud real bell that works with my Nest Powered Doorbell!
I hate electric door chimes. They are not loud enough especially in my house where the bell transformer and wiring is at one end and cant be heard at the other end. "ding dong' is not enough. So I want a loud "ring ring"old fashion bell sound but have struggled to fine one. I have bought others but they are cheap and tinny and finicky to get the clapper working right especially given the Nest connectors that feed power constantly to the doorbell. I have seen this bell before but it was DC and not AC and so I did not consider it but then I saw the post that showed how to use a rectifier diode to mimic DC voltage. ( It does this by blocking the bottom half of the AC sine wave thus approximating a DC current). I bought the recommended diode and it worked perfectly first time with the Nest and is really loud which I like. (I configured the Nest as an electric chime with a 3 second timer). Problem solved! CONS: + the bell is large (6" diameter) and bright red. I plan to paint it to match the wall. + the mounting plate is a little hokey, but it worked for me. It does not come with screws. Pay attention to the right side and the correct arrow direction.

Yes, it's plenty Loud.
Used this to replace an old chime that we could no longer hear. We are elders with somewhat of a large house and we have no problem hearing this, even behind closed doors at the very rear. As long as you hold the button down it rings. Guess for youngsters this may seem louder than needed, but after all it is a fire alarm bell. This is the bell only, you will need a button and a transformer to complete the installation. The clip that comes with it for mounting could be better. We painted ours white.

Works well as a cease fire bell at the range
I built my own portable cease fire bell for the outdoor firing range I go to since the range bell hasn't worked in over a year. The mounting system seems like it would be easy to mount to a wall, but I used it to mount into a case and it works well. The bell is loud and accomplishes it's task. Can't ask for more than that. (Video demonstrates using seconds, but minutes are used at the range.)

Great Bell
My wife has poor hearing so I built a device to let us communicate with a loud bell when we are in different parts of the house. This bell is loud enough that she can always hear it unless she has the TV volume loud. The is an excellent solution for my on my project.

Good build quality
I used this bell for customer's car repair front door alert. It rings for about 1 second and about 70 times a day. Still going after 6 months of use.
