Household Essentials 5612 Collapsible Single Laundry Hamper with Magnetic Lid, Brown Coffee

I have had this unit for about 3 years and overall it has held up alright. After 3 years of standard use the exterior and bottom have not torn any of the material. To be picky if you dump it upside down the bottom panel pops out. The only point of concern is the trim around handle holes. It held up for a few months but the handles are made of 2 pieces of metal help together by some small tabs, they slowly split and fall off. It has not been a deal breaker, but it would be nice if they had survived. I still think its a good hamper and most of my satisfaction comes from the ease of setup and the it just seems to be the right dimensions for me.

Short review: Fantastic.Longer one:I like to keep my dirties in order. My girlfriend is the thief type and stole my hamper, therefore I popped on to Amazon to get myself a new one. I'm not a pushover, but I choose my battles carefully.Design - 5/5 - Textured with the right color combination. Earthy and subtle.Functionality 5/5 - I wash*** once every two weeks. This hamper has never been full. It holds what I need and has room for more.*** - By I wash, I mean that I send my clothes out. This is an important thing to note for the next portion of the review.Durability- 5,000/5 - I drop my clothes off at the local laundromat. For those that live in a city, you already know that this is an awesome perk of city life. For those that don't: We City peeps done have washer/dryers in our units and if we do we're rich enough to just throw our dirties out the the window and buy new ones. The lazier of the normal city people have the option of dropping off our clothes and they are washed/folded for about 70cents a pound. This comes out to be roughly 5-10 bucks more than doing it yourself given that coin wash/dry's are rip offs and multiple cycles are needed to do the trick. This is relevant, stay with me.I am a special kind of lazy when it comes to laundry. Not only do I send it out but I don't bother to insert my dirties into a laundry bag, instead I take the whole hamper to the local spot. This thing has been chucked around the back of a Chinese wash shop more times than I can count. It comes back looking fresh to death every time. If you are not like me, then I can compare this to driving my car 100,000 miles in a year while your car stays parked in the comfort of your garage with 0 miles.I can't think of any other aspect of this to review but would be happy to answer any questions below.Happy Shopping!

For some odd reason, my cat LOVES digging through my dirty laundry and run around with my dirty socks o.O So I ended up ordering a Household Essentials lidded hamper in order to keep her from tearing up my socks!The hamper came folded flat but was very easy to set up. Handle-holes on the front and back of the hamper makes it easy to relocate, and the interior is lined with water-proof lining for easy cleaning in the future. The front small lip has 2 magnets in it, and the corresponding spots on the main hamper have small metal bars in them as well. Do note that although the magnets feel VERY weak, they ARE there and they WILL keep a 10-lb cat from being able to muscle her way into the hamper! Also do note that you can feel free to let the hamper lid fall closed on its own (instead of closing it slowly and carefully in a controlled fashion) and the magnets WILL connect, so the hamper is unlikely to be stuck open accidentally. The capacity of the hamper is very big, enough for a week's worth of laundry and carries them without issue. The brown color is true to picture when seen in real life, and is very attractive indeed.UPDATED 4/8/2016: the hamper is still working out VERY well! My cat had ceased playing with my socks since she cant get to them no more, and she doesnt really jump onto the hamper much either. The seamlines are still holding together well, the interior hasn't gotten dirty/moldy either, and the fact it has 2 handle holes on the front and back means VERY easy to carry to your laundry room AND helps air out the dirty laundry so they don't sit in there and simmer!

This is perfect for small spaces and I actually liked the first one enough I bought another so I could do a bit of presorting. The brown is nice and neutral and they can be easily folded down if I decide to go back to just one.There is a detachable bag that some might find helpful to haul the laundry off somewhere. The only negative of the bag is the handle placement as they show on the outside and I have to keep tucking them away. (Not a big deal in the scheme of things.)The one improvement I’d like is around the strength of the magnets that hold the top closed. Of course the way it is makes it easy to just lift the lid and drop in laundry. If you have no need to dissuade curious furry family members, I am sure it’s sufficient!

I was hesitant about paying almost $30 for something as simple as a hamper, but I'm glad I did. The package came folded flat and all I had to do was expand it and place the flat bottom piece in the bottom to keep it open. It keeps its shape very well. It is not super light, so maybe not something you'd want to carry back and forth to a laundry room that is far away, but it's manageable.I really like the material and the color. It is a canvas type material on the outside and everything inside is lined with plastic vinyl that makes it easy to wipe. The lid with the magnet makes it easy to close and keep closed. I do wish the handles were on the opposite sides, but that's minor.Lastly, there is a very slight chemical smell from the plastic vinyl, but like most reviewers have already stated, it is very minor and is barely noticeable unless you get very close to it. I assume it will go away shortly once it airs out, or like someone stated, just febreeze it. As far as size, this probably fits about two medium-sized loads of laundry, so this would not be big enough for a full family hamper. It works perfectly for the two of us in my household.Overall, this is definitely a good purchase for a small household with a nearby laundry.

Better than expected,we were looking a laundry hampers for our house to replace plastic ones, get something that would look a bit better.a lot of expensive ones around, however these struck me as inexpensive and good looking.I am glad we bought these, they are lightweight, so far they are keeping their shape as well.interior is lined with nylon fabric, I would not drop smelly sport clothing in these, but if you do, I assume that wiping it clean every now and then with a damp rag would be enough.handles are well place and lid closes well.For the price I can hardly think we could have found something better than these.

Love this laundry hamper. I've been searching for one for so long, one with a cover lid and brown colored, and it has been impossible. They are all $80+. This was the most reasonably priced and fits perfectly with my bedroom decor. Its easy to carry with handles on both sides, and is really good quality. I am so happy with it, definitely a good buy!

Came in very compact delivery. Holds its shape pretty well. Magnetic lid works as designed, and the capacity is tremendous.
