When Darkness Loves Us

When Darkness Loves Us is one of the darkest things I've ever read. The book is two novellas, the title story and Beauty Is.When Darkness Loves Us, a young pregnant farm girl gets trapped in a series of undergrown caves. It just a great story. The real meat of the book is, Beauty Is. This took me right out of my comfort zone, and I can handle some heavy stuff, and this is some pretty heavy stuff. It is beautifully written, horrific and heartbreaking at the same time. it's highly recommended.

I loved Paperbacks from Hell. If you haven't read that stop and go buy that instead! This was a fairly solid entry. It isn't the greatest book ever, but it is interesting and fun. It is a collection of 2 novellas. I loved the second one. The first, and eponymous entry, was pretty good. Warning: very 80s levels of misogyny and ablism. If that doesn't bug you, check it out :D

For avid horror aficionados/book collector’s only! I love the book. Beautiful cover! However, the price is quite high for the quality of the cover and the paper it is printed on. The paper is not very durable, and does not seem to be acid free. The cover is also very fragile.

Poetic and sad in a strange, knowing way. Better to not know a whole lot going in a just experience it. The first part is quite a bit better, but I think of the second as a bonus. A lingering, sad tale of magical realism and horror.

The first story was fairly good, the second story was kind of boring and confusing. Cool cover art though. Yep.
