Really great for privacy on a budget
Such good stuff, really easy to apply and lasted ages. Instant privacy for our living room which was only a meter from a public footpath out front. From outside you can see blurry shapes but nothing defined at all.

Not as easy to apply as a proper signmaker's brand.
Being a former signmaker, I was expecting this to be a doddle to install, but it needs the patience of a saint. First of all make sure that you have a very sharp blade and straight edge to hand, like a new scalpel and long metal ruler. Also make sure that you use a proper felt-edged squeegee as anything else can damage the film easily. Use a fine spray bottle of water with 1-2 drops of cheap washing up liquid. Starting to get the backing film off is difficult so you may need to trim off the bit where your fingers may have touched the adhesion side (branded film is more forgiving). Spray the window thoroughly, apply the film from the top and squeegee down carefully. I'll be using 3M or Metamark Crystal Etch next time as the backing paper and application is so much easier to work with. However, it dried out perfectly, is still stuck, does the job and is OK for the money.

Really pleased - looks great and fit for purpose
Really easy to install - followed the instructions to the letter. I have an awkward window in my living room - it’s L shaped and the shorter side looks directly into my porch - which has lots of coats and shoes and school bags etc as a family of 6. I didn’t like looking into the porch as despite lots of storage inevitably I have 3 school age children who don’t utilise said storage and dump stuff where they take it off. Also, people could see straight into the living room from the front windows of the porch, so I wanted some additional privacy without blocking the light it provides. I read previous reviews, and knew taking off the back may be an issue, but I personally didn’t experience this with the sticky tab provided and having nails :) I thoroughly degreased and cleaned the window - used a special blade tool to remove any specs of paint from previous occupants lack of care while painting. I measured my window pane and removed 1 centimeter to leave a 0.5cm clearance around each end. The material was easy to cut thanks to the grid. I had a spray bottle of approximately 350ml and added cold water and 1 solitary drop of washing up liquid. I thoroughly soaked the window and the sheet once back removed and placed. It was easily to remove and replace until I got 0.5cm evenly spaced all around the edges. Then, working from the centre outwards, I used an old library card with clean dry kitchen role on the longest edge (to avoid any damage) to squidgee out all the liquid and air bubbles - frequently replacing the kitchen roll, which helped to absorbs the excess water at the edges. Result was perfect placement, no air bubbles or creases. I only fitted today, so will be interesting to see how it holds up, but so far so good - can’t see any porch detritus from the kids and privacy achieved from anyone at the front door. It was a very cost effective item to achieve the desired results and appears to be well adhered. As a bonus, this particular window pane is a single sheet of glass, so I feel that the adhesive sheet will also provide a small safety aspect, should anything end up through the window (though it hasn’t in 6 years and don’t suppose it will, but I feel better for it being there and may do the other side so it creates a sandwich effect for the pane of glass. Really pleased, and looks great 😌

Extremely disappointed. Poor quality.
It has multiple straight line scratches spanning the whole length of the film to which I could see before even applying to the window. I hoped they would disappear once applied but no, they were visible. Pulled off and put in the bin, made my window look scratched. A real waste of money considering the price.

Keeps lifting off on corners
Easy to put up but after a few days it’s coming off at the bottom and top corners. Could be because it’s a very sunny window. Good for privacy and nice quality, very thick.

Excellent solution but requires carefully installation to achieve a good finish
Wanted this to create privacy on a front door window pane without blocking out excessive light. FUNCTIONALITY : This has added privacy to a front door. When applied to the front door the FROSTED WINDOW FILM was extremely effective in adding a frosted white background to a decorative door window. Looking inwards it is not possible to see inside the house during both daylight and night time hours even when the light is on insider the house and it is dark outside. INSTALLATION: Installation required some level of care and skill. This was due partly to the curved frame of the window but also to the nature of the installation process itself. Installation of this film requires similar attention to details as when adding a protective screen to a mobile phone. 1) Separating the backing from the film is not easy. The suggested technique of using adhesive tape did not work. Eventually it was necessary to pick at the film backing with a pointed surgical blade trying to get the blade between the film and backing. This worked and I was able to start the separation. 2) Applying the film to the wetted window is straight forward. Once on the window, partly because the frame is curved, cutting off the excess film required care. I found that even with a very sharp surgical blade the there was a tendency for the film to be dragged down the glass in the direction of the cut and/or if the film was held in place to stretch slightly under the cutting action of the blade. Neither of these issues caused a problem but care was needed to ensure a good cut. This may have been because of the curved frame. 3) Smoothing out the water. This was easy and straight forward using a credit card type piece of plastic. DUST: The window was cleaned before applying the film with a window cleaner to remove grease etc and then washed down. However after applying the film I noticed two specs of dust under the film. This in my view id not a problem with the film. It is more to do with the inability to keep the local area free from airborne dust. It is the same issue as when applying protective covers to mobile phones. One reason this dust got under the film may have been because I only sprayed the window with water. I did not spray the film a with water as I have seen suggested. This may have prevented the film picking up dust due to static. However I believe that it should be easy to peel part of the film away from the window and then remove the dust particle as you would when fixing a phone screen protector. I Haven't done this as you are only able to see the dust from 5-10 centimetres away and then only of you peer carefully and intently. DUST UPDATE : The film has been on for a few days now and the dust specks that were visible immediately after installation seem to have disappeared. At least they are no longer visible. The only explanation I can come up with is that the film has molded itself around the dust and because it is frosted the small dust particles have been come invisible to the eye. GLASS TEMPERATURE/CRACKING: Some reviewers have reported windows cracking as a result of installing BLACK film. Cracking in sunlight has not happened to my windows. Out of interest I measured the the glass temperature of the window with the opaque/frosted film, a clear glass window, and a true frosted glass window all in direct sunlight on a sunny and very warm day. All windows were above ambient temperature. The clear glass window was about 5 degrees above ambient, the true frosted glass window was about 7 degrees above ambient, and the window with the film was about 5 degrees above ambient. This suggests that in my case the frosted film is not causing the window to heat up unusually when compared with other glass windows. However, I can appreciate that a solid black film, because black absorbs heat, may cause the window to heat up more. For interest the ambient temperature at the time of the measurements was recorded on the device used to measure the temperature of the windows as around 30C.

I had my doubts but for the price it was worth a try. We had ugly glass in a cabinet. This fixed it up. Perfect. Easy install

I live in an apartment complex and needed privacy without darkening my home. This gives exactly that! I’m pleased to find that my plants are completely unbothered. Application was relatively simple. I recommend you get a squeegee and use A LOT of water for application—the first one I applied was tough because I didn’t use enough water but after I got the hang of it, it was very simple. I cleaned the window with windex then wiped it off with a paper towel that had isopropyl alcohol on it just to be extra safe. after weeks, it’s still clinging perfectly and not coming up at the corners at all. because there is no sticky residue and it’s just clinging, it’s a good product for apartment living because it comes right off clean like a window cling when you’re done with it. really great product

The film is easy to install. Make sure to read and follow the directions! Clean the glass surface first. A small wallpaper roller was used to work out the bubbles, making it a quick job. Also, as others have said, use plenty of water as that helps to minimize the amount of bubbles in the first place. Cutting was done with a simple razor blade along with a T square for a straight edge and a rotary cutting mat. Quick and easy. Used a bit of tape to separate the film from the backing; sometimes it took a couple of tries to get it to come apart, but nothing too frustrating. Now the windows are completely darkened--no light in or out.
