This is a very organized book. This helped my kid prep for his test and it has a lot of resources that my child can access I order to help him learn. I would say that it is a very helpful purchase that I made.

The tests in this book are the exact same tests that you can download from the SHSAT manuals published by the NYC DOE. Those are all available online. I guess you can save a few pennies on the printing costs by buying this book.

There is quite a difficulty gap when taking it as an 8th grader vs 9th grader. So far it seems like all the tests are for 9th grade as it includes topics never taught in 8th grade yet.

Good book. Good price. Cheaper than buy from its website even it was on promotional discount. Definitely buy from Amazon.

Disclaimer: I speak only about verbal sections. The book needs a good proofreader. There are a lot of discrepancies (a word that they say is in paragraph 5 is in paragraph 4, etc.), many strangely formed questions, and a few real mistakes. I bought it for my students, but will not advise new students to use it.
