sturdy and has great artwork
This is a review of the Part 1 Blu Ray Collector's Edition. Here is what you get with the collectors edition:1. A Hard case that holds 4 standard Blu-ray cases. The box itself is well made, sturdy and has great artwork. The 4 cases in the other hand feel cheap. They have okey art on the front, but on the inside they are all blank white. Also the spines of the cases are white which breaks the artwork of the cases in two.2. A3 size poster that is only one sided and is folded.3. 4 stickers (2 command seals, summoning circle and series logo).4. A 24 page booklet with some artwork and interviews. Best extra in the release. The interviews are interesting and give a comment on every episode from the series director and producer.5. On disc extra contents: Some trailers and clean Opening and Ending. So not much there.Overall opinion:Compered to the MVMs previews Fate/zero collectors realize I'm a bit disappointed. Having 4 discs separated over 4 cases seems like a waste of space to me. In there Fate/zero release they had 2 discs per case, which limited the need for cases and allowed one box to hold the entire series, but now you need 2 big boxes to hold the entire series. As mention before the lousy art design of the cases makes the release seem cheap, which it isn't at 40 to 50£+.The poster and stickers are useless to me and I would have been happier if they've used the money from them to make better design on the cases. The booklet is the only thing of the extras that I liked. On the disc the series is fantastic and the subs are well made and blend nicely with the animation. Can't say anything for the dub since I have not yet listened to it.So is the release worth the money. Not really. It's a nice box to have on the shelf, but on the inside it has many problems. If you're not that compelled to have the collectors edition only because it says collector on it, then wait for the regular release of the series.

Review of the Standard Bu-ray case and extras
I imagine that if you're here it's because you've see the show and liked it enough to buy it. So instead of talking about the show I'll talk about the Standard Edition Blu-ray case and extras for both parts 1 and 2.Both parts come in a thick Blu-ray case, about twice the size of a normal case, and holds four discs. Each disc consist of between 2 and 4 episodes. This, I think, is a huge waste of space because most series (Including the previous Fate entry released by Aniplex, Fate/Zero) have each part come in two discs each holding about 6-8 episodes. Why they decided to use twice as many discs as well as a thick four disc case (Instead of a regular size four disc case) I don’t know.Part 1 cost £35 and consists of the following content:Part 1, disc 1 – Only holds episodes 0 & 1Part 1, disc 2 – Only holds episodes 2, 3, 4 & 5Part 1, disc 3 – Only holds episodes 6, 7, 8, & 9Part 1, disc 4 – Holds episodes 10, 11, & 12. It also comes with clean version of the opening and closing as well as trailers for both this show and others that were coming out at the time.Part two is also £35 and consists of:Part 2, disc 1 – Only holds episodes 13, 14, 15 & 16Part 2, disc 2 – Only holds episodes 17, 18, 19 & 20Part 2, disc 3 – Only holds episodes 21, 22 & 23Part 2, disc 4 – Holds episodes 24, 25 and a bonus OVA (which is only 10 mins long and acts as an alternative ending then episode 25). Just like part 1 it comes with a clean version of the opening and closing as well as trailers for the show.Overall, even though I really like the show, I think it’s over priced (£70 for the entire series) for what it offers. It is designed to waste storage space and comes with next to no extras. So unless you are determined to have the highest quality image possible I would recommend getting the DVD rather than the Blu-ray and save some money.

A really great follow-up to Fate/Zero
With Fate/Zero being one of my top favourite Anime series, I was hoping Unlimited Blade Works wouldn't disappoint and fortunately, it didn't. While I do like Fate/Zero a bit more, UBW is not far behind it. In fact, I enjoyed it just as much at certain points (particularly with its phenomenal action scenes, which in my opinion, even outdo Fate/Zero's fights). If you thought the animation looked amazing in Fate/Zero, just wait until you see UBW's animation. It is so incredibly pleasing to look at and the level of detail and realism is mind-blowing at times. As a side note, it was great to have Saber back in this.

Animation on a (massive) budget.
An exceptionally refined production which manages to be pleasing by: Good character, loving/skillful render of everyday things, epic cgi magic spell effects and all most too good looking animation of characters in and out of battle. The talent that the makers have at every level of anime production is abundantly evident here. I first watched Fate/Zero then read the first route of the visual novel, this anime being a faithful rendition of the second route. I only mention this to give an option of reading the novel to anyone unaware. Not having experienced the pacing of a visual novel or streaming in poor quality could affect the enjoyment. What UBW pt1 loses by being restrained ( if that's the right word) by the original vision it makes up for just in the animation of fuji nee which i think is hysterical. What attracted me, a mature male, to the franchise? The mere mention of battling wizards was i think what did it. Being entertaining is the goal of such a series and anime fans will know what keeps on bringing them back to Japanese animation.

Don't bother with the 2006 version see this.
Fantastic series way better than the original form 2006. Recommend watching fate zero the prequel then this. This fits more with fate zero than the original did. All the characters are back but thouska is more important to the overall story. She is definitely one of the best characters of the series. As for saber her role is less compared to zero and the 2006 version.

Fate is great
If you are a big Fate Fan you love this anime. I like this version more the Fate/Stay Night from 2006 because this story line works better.
