A perfectly good hat ruined by careless packing. This arrived in a box too small for the hat. The hat itself was placed into a plastic bag and stuffed into the box. Now, it is misshapen and really not appropriate for daily wear. It could have been a decent hat, but because of packer carelessness, this hat will likely be used for yard work. Since this is not the first time I have received a hat in this condition, I will no loner be purchasing this kind of merchandise online again. At least this one fit, small consolation considering the condition.

The size runs very, very large. I usually wear an XL and had to return it as it was HUGE. I then ordered a Large because I like the hat and that too was HUGE. I really couldn't tell the difference between an XL and a L. Like the other reviews said it was smashed and unable to reshape it. The first one came in a box and still was smashed. The second one just came in an envelope - and was smashed. I like the hat's style that I really want one but I don't know if I'm going to try for the 3rd time.I just ordered a medium and it fits. I usually wear an XL and the M fit...actually I'm wondering if the small would fit. Anyway size means nothing in this hat but I do like it. The style is great.

I was able to successfully shrink the hat to a regular M! I ordered it M but as in almost 100% of reviews, when it arrived it felt as an L. But I'dbread a review by a gentleman who put it in a dishwasher in high heat, no soap, alone, no heat dry, but air dry. Thus I did something similar but manually. I used a plastic small washing recipient, 1.8 liters of boiling water, and a towel. First I got the hat wet with tap unheated water. Then I boiled about 1.3 liters and gently dropped it on the hat, within the plastic recipient. I manually kept turning the hat (with the top part below), for about 10 minutes. Then heated another 0.5 liter and continued turning until the water cooled. All the time the hat behaved magnificently, barely altering its shape. Finally, out of the recipient and without pressing I let the redundant water fall and placed the hat, top side down, on a dry towel in front of a window with no direct sun. 12 hours drying and Voila! A regular size M hat and with its good looks unchanged.

I bought the black hat (for work) in size medium. I normally use a large hat. However, customer reviews about sizing running large prompted me to go medium. Very helpful. Medium is spot on.My driving job requires me to wear a bluetooth headset. Plus, I recently invested in hearing aids. So, with strong rainstorms in the forecast, I decided to protect my head, and my investments in equipment. I am required to assist passengers onto and off the vehicle, and to operate a wheelchair lift. When you're doing this in a rain shower, you don't have a free hand to hold an umbrella for yourself.This hat performed excellently. It as 2-3 steps above a floppy bucket hat, but less expensive. Its rain resistance has been great, as demonstrated by its performance this week in a number of hard downpours. While it does not have the style of a $75-$150 fedora, it DOES look very sharp as a semi-casual hat to be worn with Dockers, golf shirt and jacket. Looks just a bit dressy, with a tinge of Indiana Jones flair.The hat did come a bit crumpled in the packaging, but just a bit of tweaking got it looking good.I priced hats at a local bricks and mortar store, and most of comparable function and look came in at $35 to $75 a pop. This is a good looking, functional rain hat with some flair. Thumbs up!

Forward crown indents you see do not survive. Top crease and brim look right. Hat is canvas with just right shape holding and shifting. 2017 version has anti-drizzle over-spray. Right crown height and width. Right firmness, flexibility. Right brim size, angle. I always have two each in beige, olive, black. I clean them with Woolite, brush, water; let self dry. Each pampered hat serves about 5 years. Work perfect for Spring, Summer, Fall. Dress up or dress down. I used to paint band black. Will try it as-is now.

I bought one of these hats in 2013 in a medium khaki, and I love it. It looks good, feels good, isn't heavy, and it fits perfectly. I recently ordered one in black and received it today. I ordered the same size, but this one is too big. The indentation on top of the hat actually sits on the top of my head when I put it on. I have several hats, all medium and they all fit fine. The material also has a different feel to it, it' seems stiffer and coarser, and just doesn't feel as if it would be as comfortable. However I did see that the black has UPF50 sun protection, which could be a factor. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's a bad hat, but there seem to be inconsistencies in both size and degree of quality, at least between the different colors. I don't know if different hats of the same color differ is size. Maybe I'll try a different color and hope for better luck.

If you're looking for a formal/dress hat to go with a tailored suit, you're on the wrong page. This is an outdoors, mow your lawn, stroll the mall, fishing/boating, vacation, hiking, barbecuing in the backyard, if-you-don't-like-boonies hat.But let's talk about the sizing... AGAIN. I wear a solid 24-inch hat. I have a 7-3/4 long oval straw cowboy hat that fits me perfectly. That said, I followed the advice from other reviews that said to size down, based on the Dorfman Pacific size chart. The XL fits perfect- not tight, not loose. The hat is soft, comfy, conforming, and it fits exactly without binding nor room to shift. I can't speak for a gale force wind just yet, but at the moment it sits solid on my head.I'm loving this hat straight out of the box.

Giving it 5 Stars for what it is. That is a good sun hat with UPF50 to protect your skin from the sun. It is fairly easy to shape but it’s a very casual hat. Think thick canvas like material. So if you are looking for a fancy Fedora, keep looking. This is a stylish bum around hat for weekend walks. And it has some style so you are not looking like Gilligan. Those people complaining about the hat coming crushed did not order the right kind of hat. That said, I ordered a large but should have went medium. But the large still fits just not snugly. I like it and will probably order another.

I specifically ordered this hat for my husband because the reviews said that the fit is big and my husband struggles to find hats large enough so we felt that this hat would be ideal and indeed, it fits well and he's delighted with it. It arrived in pristine condition (we had been rather wary about this having read previous reviews). He finds the hat ideal for gardening because it gives good protection from the sun, not only on his scalp but it also gives shade to his neck and eyes.

This is a very well made hat,it is light enough for summer use but sturdy enough to wear all year round.It is also a good looking hat and even my greatest hat criticthinks so(and coming from her this is high praise indeed).The size is absolutely spot on and no padding adjustments are necessary. The delivery was ahead of schedule and well ahead of my expectations.All in all one of lifes better buys.

This hat is good quality for the price and I will buy another. It's sizing is incorrect. My noggin is measured at 7 7/8" ... I purchased an XL which per sizing chart fits a 7 5/8" at max ... and my hat fits loose but acceptable. Depending if you are at bottom or top of size scale ... I recommend you order 1 to 2 sizes smaller. No hat shape protection is provided by Amazon in shipping ... my hat was scrunched with creases ... expect to steam and iron to perfection.

It does fit a bit big, in comparison to the other "exact same" model in a different colour. Will have to stuff foam in the hat band to get it to fit the way I like. I had searched Amazon for Scala Brand hats...thought that what I was getting -- it turns out Dorfman Pacific is not the same fit as Scala. Who knew? Not really pleased about it - I can live with it.

Nice comfortable, lighter hat to keep the sun off the melon. No complaints about the transaction or the product although I had expected the hat to be made from a sturdier material...
