IT WORKS!!! I wish I had found this product years ago so I could've saved 2 of my cats, but I'm at least glad I found it now. One of my cats has bladder crystal problems and we just don't have the money needed to continuously take her to the vet for it. She had surgery in the past to help clear out the crystals but JUST the treatment now costs more than the actual surgery did. When we noticed her having trouble peeing again, I searched and searched and searched more. I can't remember exactly what I searched for that brought up this product but I'm so glad I clicked on it and gave it a try. She doesn't like the flavor of this so I have to smear it on her mouth. I gave her a pea size amount every day for 2 weeks and just saw her use the litterbox with absolutely no trouble urinating now. Just a normal flow again. THANK GOODNESS for this product. It seems to have helped clear up any crystals she had. I'm not sure how often I should be giving it to her now though. Maybe once a week or once every other day. I wish there was more info on that. UPDATE- So I've been giving this to my cat almost daily and it continues to help her body break down whatever it's trying to build up. Shes still using the bathroom normally, still hates the flavor of this stuff lol but small price to pay

I've been using this on my cats' food. They like the taste and their urine doesn't smell as bad. Really helps 1 of my male cats with crystals.

It’s a life saver! The best remedy for your cat that suffers from frequent UTI symptoms! He hates the flavor but that isn’t important to me. The results that come from this remedy is astonishing and We can’t live without it! It’s a MUST HAVE inside your medicine cabinet.

I got this DL methionine product for one of our foster cats when she had a urinary tract infection. One thing that concerned me right away was that the foster was giving it to all of her other cats even though they had no infections. She was told by someone that this could be used daily as a regular supplement, and that is where I think this product is misleading. The company talks about how this helps control strong urine smells, promotes normal urine pH, supports normal bladder function, and supports urinary tract health. While those things can be true, this is meant for cats that are actually having issues. This is not something to use every day as a general supplement or preventative. If your cat has enough hydration, gets mostly wet food, and is on a feline appropriate diet, most of the time you should not need something like this. UTIs happen for many reasons, so this can have its place, but it needs to be used with care. I used this only as part of an actual treatment plan for our foster. She was on a Clavamox antibiotic, she got extra hydration, and I also made unseasoned, unsalted homemade chicken broth. I skimmed the fat off and had the foster mix it into her wet food. I also told her to cut back on kibble because kibble is drying. On top of that, I provided additional supportive supplements to help nourish her while she healed. A vet tech friend of mine told me the same thing I already felt. DL methionine can be safe and helpful when it is used correctly and only for the right condition. It is meant to help acidify the urine, but it can also cause problems if it is used incorrectly or too often. You should talk to your vet before giving this. High doses or misusing it can cause issues like anemia, changes in red blood cells, or metabolic problems. Too much acidification can actually make the urine overly acidic, which can lead to other types of crystals or irritation. You also need to weigh your cat and dose it properly because the dose is based on weight. Side effects can include vomiting, loss of appetite, and diarrhea, so you want to watch for that and do supportive care. One of the things I use for supportive care is homemade marshmallow root tea. I make it with either filtered water or unseasoned homemade chicken broth. I add the herb at about 1 tbsp to 1.5 tbsp for about 2 to 2.5 cups of water or broth. I bring it to a boil, cover it, then reduce it to a low simmer for about 20 to 30 minutes. Marshmallow root tea has a soothing quality and can help comfort irritated tissues in the body (I am an herbalist, so I understand how these herbs work). I also add slippery elm bark powder. It has a soothing, coating quality and it can help with the bladder and the urethra. You can sprinkle a pinch directly on food, or you can stir a small pinch into the tea. What I usually do is mix about 1 tsp to 1.5 tsp of slippery elm bark powder into about 2 cups of water or broth. I make a larger batch so I can freeze it in little ice cubes because the tea only lasts about three days in the refrigerator. When I need them, I thaw the cubes, warm them on the stove, and mix a little into the wet food. I like using the chicken broth as a base because it encourages cats to eat, especially when they do not have much appetite. Some people use stinging nettle too, but from my experience many cats do not like the taste, so I usually stay with marshmallow and slippery elm. I know this is a lot of information, but there are holistic and natural things that are safe for cats and do not cause harm when used properly. We can use supportive things like this instead of relying too heavily on something that can cause problems if it is misused. A product like this should be used only for treating an actual urinary tract infection and only with guidance from your vet. If your cat has kidney issues or chronic kidney disease, be very careful. My vet told me not to use this product for my cat with CKD. That is another reason it should never be given as a daily supplement. There are many products online now and it is easy to think they are harmless, but we have to be careful and check with our vets and do our own research before giving things like this, especially when a cat already has a medical condition. This product does have its place, but in my opinion it should only be used when needed and with proper guidance. In the end, the foster cats UTI cleared up and I highly believe it was largely due to the antibiotic used and supportive care. Removing kibble and encouraging more moisture in her diet.

Tom cats are occasionally stricken with the inability to urinate due to crystals blocking the urethra. When the urine dries they look like little glass needles. Spending excessive time in the litter box, yowling, licking, pacing and a tight bladder can all be signs of blockage. Kidney failure can occur in 24-48 hrs resulting in death. Methigel use at first signs can possibly help prevent expensive vet bills by correcting urine pH. Just squeeze it out on your finger or in a spoon and they readily lick it up due to an apparently good taste. Switching to cat food labeled as urinary health can also help prevent future blockages.

Works like a charm when you have a dog that is prone to bladder crystals

It’s very sticky and my cat wasn’t interested in the flavor so I had to hide it in his food. I miss the chewables. Still, I’m happy to have something to help prevent crystals!!!

I can use different foods for my cat who is prone to crystals, i do use a double dose in his food though just because he is so bad for getting crystals. It does work but remember to use it in each wet feed you give them. They neeed an acidic environment to dissolve the crystals.
