DETECTO 337 Mechanical Physician Beam Scale Without Height Rod, Dual Reading KG/LB

My daughter is a Medical Assistant to our physician. I always admired the scales they use. We have a digital scale. It is not consistent. This scale , once you put it together and adjust the balance, both processes are fairly simple, gives you your true weight every time. It is a good value, well made and precise. The only thing that may be a problem to some is that it has a fairly large base so you'll need a lot of room. This scale would take up too much space in an average bathroom. I ended up putting it in my office. If you weigh yourself every day or every other couple days, it's great as the weights are exactly where you left them the last time you weighed yourself and you can see if you gained or lost 1/4 lb at a time. Go for it it's worth it and Made in America!

The Scale arrived packed very well against damage in Shipping. The scale was easy to put together and was easy to "Zero" out so the readings would be correct.

7lbs heavy. Tested it against multiple scales including doctors office. Always heavy. Got this because I wanted accuracy. Well this wasnt the right choice. And not returnable.

I wanted a scale that would finally be an accurate measure of weight and after reviewing many balance scales on Amazon, decided on this one. I've had it now for about 6 or 7 months and it performs beautifully. I've checked it against the scales at the gym and doctors' office and it weighs perfectly. We don't really have a lot of space for it so it's sitting behind a door in the bathroom. We unfortunately kept forgetting it was there when we first bought it and kept hitting it with the door as we went in and out. Thankfully, the scale is sturdy enough to take the hits without hurting the mechanisms at all, and still works perfectly. I'm VERY happy with it.So why didn't it get 5 stars? Well, the numbers on the beam are so small I can't see them when I'm weighing myself. They could make this better. I have to get off and stand back to see the weight. From looking at the scale it doesn't seem that making them this small was necessary to fit all the numbers on.I definitely can recommend this scale to others. The price was good and the scale is great.

Had a problem putting the scales together--a loop had come undone in the top. I was able to talk to a representative through their Website immediately. The scale is well made and accurate (and easy to make it so). It was very well packed but I assume considerable movement occurred with it before I received it. Anyway, at some point the loop came undone but I was finally able to notice it and fix.

The good thing about the shipping was it was fast... other than that...The column of the scale was pretty badly mangled when it arrived. The draft rod was bowed and rammed into the assembly of the balance arm. A few of the metal parts of the weighing mechanism seemed at odd angles and pretty torqued. A call to customer service wasn't answered so I tried to figure out how to fix it but ended up just horsing on it with pliers until it broke loose. The screw holes didn't quite match up (before the horsing too). I'm not sure if it could pass a US Standards and Measures inspection right now, but it appears to be functioning with unknown accuracy. I'll try to email to find out but I'm not expecting much help. It also had a slip that said it passed inspection by two individuals. I'm not sure how they inspect their product but it obviously didn't include making sure the balance arm/dectector rod moved freely. I don't think I would buy anything from this company again since I feel they goofed up the product by packaging. It must have taken lots of pressure to ram the rod into the assembly that deeply.

Not as sturdy as I'd hoped for. The area to stand is very wobbly and if you step to the edge or back it tips. If you are not steady on your feet this could be a problem

This is a great, and very accurate, product! If you are watching your weight, or trying to lose a few pounds (or gain a few), you can see every quarter pound coming off (or going on!).And, unlike a lot of the cheap floor scales, you will get the SAME reading every time you get off and on during the same weigh-in time!A lot of the floor scales will read, for example, 185 lbs. when you get on. You get off, and weight yourself ten seconds later, and you weight 185 1/2!So, you get on again ten seconds later, and now it reads 184 1/2!! So, you pick the lowest one, and say it was a good day! Bt you're not really sure what you weigh, and if the diet and exercise is really working.This scale is reliable EVERY time you get one, once you set it correctly (by sliding it to zero, etc.)I tried two of the other scales sold on Amazon. My weight changed every ten seconds, as with the cheap floor models. One had a swing of three pound when one got off and back on! Not sure if it was because they were made overseas or not, but this one's made in Missouri, so that's nice as well.
