Does the density preference has to do with how big a person is? Ie bigger person needs harder roller and softer one for thin person?

Density preference has to do with your sensitivity to pain and how tight your muscles are. If your muscles are really tight use a softer roller. If you don't handle pain well use a softer roller. I have a very dense roller which works great on my back but it's too hard for my shoulders which are usually very tight. This roller is soft, probably as soft they are made.
