Discover how the joy of giving can make your life richer, starting today. Bestselling author Randy Alcorn introduced readers to a revolution in material freedom and radical generosity with the release of the original The Treasure Principle in 2001. Now the revision to the compact, perennial bestseller includes a provocative new concluding chapter depicting God asking a believer questions about his stewardship over material resources. Jesus spent more time talking about money and possessions than about heaven and hell combined. But too often weโve overlooked or misunderstood his most profound teaching on this topic, from his words in Matthew 6. Jesus offers us life-changing investment advice. He actually wants us to store up treasures for ourselvesโjust not here on earth. Instead, he urges us to store our treasure in heaven, where they will await us, and last forever. We canโt take it with usโbut we can send it on ahead! Readers are moved from the realms of thoughtful Bible exposition into the highly personal arena of everyday life. Because when Jesus told His followers to โlay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,โ He intended that they discover an astounding secret: how joyful giving brings God maximum glory and His children maximum pleasure. In The Treasure Principle, youโll unearth a radical teaching of Jesusโa secret wrapped up in giving. Once you discover this secret, life will never look the same. And you wonโt want it to be. โSupercharged with stunning, divine truth! Lightning struck over and over as I read it.โ - John Piper, Senior Pastor, Bethlehem Baptist Church, Minneapolis Review: Great bookโ - Greet book! The Treasure Principle
Jesus spent more time talking about money and possessions than about heaven and hell combined. But too often we do not want to hear what Jesus said about money and possessions. As a result, we miss out on the many blessings God has in store for us, because we seek our blessings from those material things. Jesus offers us the opportunity to embrace the abundant life. Itโs a life filled with hope, grace, mercy and power and love, but it does not come through the temporary things, it comes through the spiritual life, devoted to following Jesus. This is the premise out of which Alcorn writes. He uses a number of scripture references to make his points. This is a short and easy to read book which will speak very clearly about money and possessions. There are a number of excellent resources and study questions in the back of the book as well. Overall, I would recommend this book to read. I received this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for an honest review.

Rich inspirational teaching on the treasure principles that Jesus spoke about in his parables, a good teaching guide on basic principles of tithing and New Testament giving. Great Resource
Would recommend to ministry leaders, Sunday school leaders and Pastors for the effectual witness of the ministry of the word towards the gospel of giving.

New perspective on Giving
I've heard messages on stewardship! This was another level of explanation for me. A brilliant read that I would recommend to all. I've learnt a great deal, I am a steward not a owner. Wow!!!

Abundant Joy!
If you desire to know the joy that Christ promised His followers; read this book! It is radical, yet profoundly biblical. Finally, I have the answer to the questions I have been asking in my many years as a Christian. I read in my Bible that Christ tells us not to love the world, nor the things of the world; to store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, not on earth; to give as the widow who gave all she had; not to be as the rich young ruler, etc. But, in America, Christianity is generally not practiced in this way! And, it is no wonder that we do not see the kind of joy that Christ promised either. If you are hungering for "abundant joy" and are ready to "put your money where your mouth is" then read this book. I purchased 20 copies and will buy more. This message needs to be heard!

Life-changing little book
The Treasure Principle is a quick read, but don't let the fact that it's a small book lead you to believe it's light weight. This little book is life-changing. Randy Alcorn has the rare gift of presenting familiar truth in ways that challenge and motivate the reader. Alcorn spells out clearly how to apply biblical principles regarding money to the reader's everyday life. Sadly, few of us give much thought to the impact money has on our life. After reading The Treasure Principle I understand why money is spoken of more often than heaven or hell in the Bible.I would recommend The Treasure Principle to anyone who has a desire to grow and change. This little book is a goldmine of spiritual wisdom.

Thought-provoking and challenging
I confess to being a lttle skeptical when I first picked up this book. To profess to be the key to unlocking some new principle is a big claim. In my experience, most books that make that sort of big claim are actually full of tosh. However, I was pleasantly surprised by Randy Alcorn's book. While I'm still figuring out how it will work out in my life, I think he has some fantastic principles here: * God owns everything. I am his money manager. * My heart always goes where I put God's money. * Heaven, not earth, is my home. * I should live not for the dot (the now), but for the line (things which last forever). * Giving is the only antidote to materialism. * God prospers me not to raise my standard of living, but to raise my standard of giving. It's short and to the point. I just bought two more copies to give away!

Best book I know on the topic
I've read 3 books on this topic in my life, and this is the best in my opinion. I bought half a dozen to give to my Bible study group. And this is proof a book doesn't have to be long to be powerful. Excellent job! I'm not sure if Randy reads reviews, but if he does, I'm hoping for a future chapter on retirement. Many of us are storing up treasure on earth to pay for a retirement. I wish I had a pension plan. I wish my kids were happy to have me live in their basement :) Is it a lack of faith to stockpile for a rainy day or retirement? I know the Bible speaks favorably towards the ant, towards what Joseph did, towards the widow's oil, etc. So in some situations, it seems wise to store up. I personally would benefit from knowing how you resolve this contradiction. Any time I do "retirement calculations", it is a very fine balance between dieing with nothing, and dieing with millions and if I change one or two assumptions, I can arrive at either outcome. I suspect your retirement may be funded by book royalties. The equivalent for me would be owing a million dollars of dividend paying stock. Is that storing up treasure on earth? Having said that, your point wasn't lost on me. I spend way too much time thinking of money/possessions as mine rather than thinking of myself as God's steward/Fedex. Thank you for challenging me. It is good Biblical advise. I suspect the answer to my question is best solved by me wrestling with the Spirit in prayer to understand His direction for my circumstances.

Reccomended
This is a very good book. Alcorn refutes the popular teaching of the prosperity gospel by showing where real treasure lies and how we should acumulate that treasure, the treasure of heaven incorruptable and everlasting by using our temporal treasures for Gods work. This book should be a must read for every Christian. Live for the line and not the point.
