About two weeks ago I purchased the Launch CPR129X scanner. If you are looking for a scanner for your own use, this might be a good choice. The price varies. It gives a lot of information, and the firmware comes with a free lifetime update. The scanner also connects to Wi-Fi and allows it to download updates. It also has a "Mall", Store, that you can purchase add on functions. I purchased the add on for GM vehicles that adds more function. This was an added $34 purchase on the mall off the scanner. The add-on features are only good for one year. Reports The scanner allows you to input a business or your personal name and your email address. It will email you a nice-looking report with all the details of the scan results. You can take snapshots of any of the scanner screens that can also be sent to your email address. Live Data You can view live data of anything on the OBD2 connection. It will also live stream graft the data, allowing you to view any changes. This data can also be recorded for capturing any changes and saving them for future viewing. These recordings can also be emailed. My only complaint, the product description offers a free lifetime update service. This is for the base level amount of scan data. If you want the full scan capability, you need to purchase additional firmware from their mall. They are only good for a year and after a year, you need to purchase again. It is still cheaper than other scanners and gives the same results as scanners costing way more. All in all I’m happy with this unit. It feels comfortable to use and seems to be made well. I give it a full 5 stars.

The product arrived quickly, and first impressions were excellent. The scanner itself feels like a high quality piece and not flimsy or cheap at all. I was pleasantly surprised it came fully charged, and turned on quickly without being plugged in. Already a major upgrade from my other scanner. I quickly set up the scanner to get on my WIFI, registered my product, and installed all the updates. At this point after all the updates (And my slow internet connection) it had been on for about 45 minutes to an hour...The battery only dropped down to 98%, Great! The unit has a touch screen that feels excellent. Feels like an iPhone and the menu's have the same feel to them. You can use either the touch screen or the buttons on the right for any task. Kind of handy, kind of un-necessary but hey its there and it works. My first task was reading an airbag code on a 2012 Silverado. I plugged the truck in, it read the VIN quickly. After answering a few questions like "Manual Transfer case yes/no" It ran a full vehicle health report. In addition to the airbag code it provided a description of the code and what the error means. B0083 front left impact sensor 1; 0F Sensor Reading Erratic. No need to google what the numbers mean anymore. (Another great feature my old scanner did not have) It also pulled up codes from the past that were fixed....Like an unplugged wheel speed sensor from when i did the brakes a week ago and forgot to plug it in immediately. I was able to clear these from the history, but need to fix the airbag sensor before that one will disappear. The next task was to reset the oil service light on a 2011 Audi A4. It not only did this, but it also reset the Service Interval as well! This was something I thought only an Audi specific tool could do. It not only reset it, but allowed me to extend the service alert to not bug me for another 3 years! (Previously we had to go to Audi 45 minutes away from our house once a year to get the alert reset). This feature was not advertised, but it is possible with this unit.... Color me impressed! So far I am very impressed with the unit and am very happy with my purchase. Well worth the investment if you do as much of your own work on your vehicles as you can. I hate having to take vehicles somewhere for something simple, like brakes, because there is no easy way to retract the electronic E-Brake.

This is definitely a mid level scanner. I am still learning how to use the functions but overall it does what it is intended to do which is read trouble codes, give descriptions of the code, and clear the code. Its touch screen too. Also there is a function that takes you to the internet where you can google the code and play a video on youtube. Which I find pretty amazing. My snap on scanner doesn't even do that. Plus the price of this scanner is very affordable for what you get compare to my outdated snap on scanner. Also there is free updates you can install. When you unbox the item it comes with the obd2 connector cable, the scanner itself, a carrying case and also the charger cable. Instructions aswell. The scanner is charged and it is portable unlike most entry level scanners you need to connect to the cars obd2 port for it to turn on. When you plug this scanner to a car, it automatically VIN codes the vehicle which means it pulls up the car specs automatically for you instead of finding the year, make, model and engine size with a higher end scanner. This has live data stream and freeze frame functions. It also has some capabilities to reset oil life, and tpms for certain type and year of a car. Not all but some. It also have some capability to do electronic parking brake systems when you have a car that has a motorized caliper for the rear braking system. This scanner also has some updates that are paid when you click on the mail icon button. I havent purchased it but may come in handy if you need that special function. But why buy it? When you have the capability to go online when you click on the help button to diagnose the code. I wish they had a button for the internet which would be more convenient. This runs on a wifi system. So you do need to have access to wifi for the internet function. Overall a nice compact portable scanner that does more than a standard scanner. Affordable, has cool features, free updates, touch screen, wifi, good enough battery life, has a charging port. Has a built in protective case in case of drops. Also the brand name is launch which is a great trusted company.

So far I have just opened the device and begun setting it up. I liked it at first and seems to work good. However during the initial setup it showed 44 updates available so I started them. It has been running for over 6 hours now and still hasn’t finished. I have over 800 mb/s data speeds so this is remarkably slow. I’m not giving up yet so I will update when I know more. But so far it seems disappointingly slow. (((UPDATE))) So I will say I am quite happy with the Device and its abilities. At first I was extremely disappointed and that is because the updating process caused it to basically go into some type of glitch where it never completed the updates and wouldn’t work. Tech support reached out to me regarding this and got it resolved quickly. To help others out, DO NOT CHOOSE to update everything. Only select the updates for the country you’re in not other countries updates. That’s what caused mine to glitch. Now after completing a factory reset and reinstalling the proper updates I’ve ran it on 6 separate vehicles and it works wonderfully and performs quite well for the price range it’s in!

Great product, was easy to update, tried it on my vehicle after updating and got the codes other standard code readers couldn't show, will be looking forward to testing on other vehicles and all the functions as time goes on, as of now a great purchase for the money.

I purchased this in February 2021 and the CRP129X states lifetime free updates. I'm no longer getting any updates after exactly 1 year. Would not recommend also states 5 year warranty and I'm sure they probably don't honor that as well. The seller is not helping at all and please note that this item is not US Supported. I Tried Launch USA to get help and they stated that the CRP129X is China based and would not help support item. They mention 5 years warranty and lifetime updates and they are not honoring either of these. Lesson Learned don't buy this and find a US Based seller for Launch otherwise no help. 2/21/2021 and no help after reporting this issue to Seller. I've been really impressed with this tool. You'd almost expect a slow, clunky experience.. but everything is very responsive, including the touch screen. Everything is "just right" in every aspect regarding overall build quality, ergonomics, functionality/ease of use, etc.. You are able to monitor loads of sensors and obviously pull codes with an explanation, instead of having to look in a book or online search, like with using a basic reader. I like how they have it to where you can easily upload a report right to your email, and also record live data for playback. Overall I would recommend this for anybody that does any occasional/hobby work on OB2 vehicles. You can get by cheaper, but it reality it wasn't a ton more to get this one, as the touchscreen is night and day easier to use than just the buttons, plus some extra features. I will say after using it quite a while, you will run into certain features being unavailable on particular vehicles, but I still like the product, very useful to gather data, very functional.
