If you haven't tried it yet, ultra-light fishing can be one of the most enjoyable ways to fish. The Shakespeare Micro Series rods have a variety of actions and lengths to fit any species and are perfect for fishing with lighter lures and lines.

I ordered the 7'6 ultra light and I love it, I will say that if a man ...
I am a crappie fisherman, I ordered this base on owning the light action in 7 ft ,I ordered the 7'6 ultra light and I love it ,I will say that if a man is not being careful the rod could be very easily broke as we all know how thin and light ultra lights are but that being said mine came in perfectly and it was boxed and also had a sleeve cardboard over the tip which I believe the reviews on these right it's coming in broke are the reason because people are trying to open that sleeve like you could imagine a kid opening presents on Christmas so that being said just take your time opening the package and all should be good but I have taken this on several trips and it has not broke on me yet even landed a 3 pound catfish with no problem! But this rod makes pan fishing just that much more fun! Buy it

The rod is good quality, it gets the job done
I'm a avid tournament angler, and it's always not about having the most expensive rod, it's about how you utilize it when fishing... that being said, I have the 5ft 6inches and 7ft ultra light for about 2 years now. The rod is good quality, it gets the job done, but you have to be cautious and take care of it. Any rod can snap if you try to force a snag off instead of cutting the line... the 5ft 6in ultra light shakespeare rod I have has landed many 5 pounder trout and I even caught a 10lb 8oz trout on it. Great rod, if it breaks I'll buy another one, cheap and under $20!

Buy this rod !!!
It's hard to find a 7ft lite action spinning rod, most are ultra lite or medium. I like this rod as much as my 2 elites. The only draw back is finding a 45in tube to protect the tip when traveling. This is an excellent pan fish and trout rod when matched with a quality 2000 series reel. I have it matched with an older shimano synergy 2000 and the balance and action is perfect.

Great value
I was skeptical about the value on this rod. But I put an Okuma 20 reel on it and hit a family pond. It is “whippy” when casting. To be expected from a 7.5 ft ultra light. But it handled fish well. I was casting a 1/32 jig with a plastic shad. It casted fine. Accurate casts aren’t possible with this rod. What surprises me is the backbone that it has. I accidentally caught a 1 lb bass that day on it and it held up very well. This will be my go to crappie and bream rod. Maybe even for some river bass at times. It’s well worth $20. Again... it’s an ultralight rod. Understand what that means.

quiet nice rod, especially for the price.
i bought the 7' light rod, i used a 2000 sized reel and 10Lb braid with the drag set to 3.3Lbs. this is a lightweight fast action rod, it is not the toughest rod out there, but it casts Very well, and is quite sensitive. I brought in a 22" Gar without any issues... and could feel the little nibbles of baby panfish without even trying... this has become my go-to rod for freshwater fishing. As a note though the packaging for this rod was Horrible! it came in a 6x6 box without any padding material... while this one arrived ok, the other i ordered was broken ( though amazon replaced it promptly).

Fragile rod, but good value for the money.
I have two Shakespeare Micro rods - a 7'6" Ultralight and a 7" Light. They are extremely fragile and the upper section is prone to breakage if you are not careful. I think this is owing to the rod being a hollow CF tube rather than a solid blank. However, if you are very careful with the rod, they do work very well. The tip of my UL rod did break (overbent it by accident while testing the drag) but I was able to salvage the last line guide and refit it to the rod, so now it's closer to 7'3". Still works great for light lures 1/4 oz and under. Between the two, I prefer the light action as the ultralight is a bit too wobbly for my taste.

Great Rod for the money!
This may be the best rod for the money I've ever bought. Very light and sensitive but with enough backbone to land big Crappie around the dock. I've caught largemouth and smallmouth bass, many over 3lbs. as well as a couple of catfish over 5lbs. The little rod has never let me down. I've had it bent up so much that I couldn't believe it didn't snap. I primarily fish off the dock around many boats, cables and ropes for crappie but often catch much larger fish. You have to control your fish under such conditions which means you better have your drag set right and your rod has to be tough. This little rod performs spectacularly. I love it so much for the type of fishing I do I bought another one! I highly recomend it !

Panfish slayer.
I got two, 7' L and 7'6" UL in May 2017 and used them in spring. Both of them hauled out plenty of sunnies and crappies. The actions and bends just made fishing breams like fishing big bass and carp. Moreover, the UL rod with 2lb test line casts 1/64 jigs like a dream. With Gulp alive pink fry I outfished nearly everyone at piers. I cannot believe that almost every cast results in a fish when I fished subsurface. The rods are too good that getting limits of bream within two hours makes a day boring.

Great Little Spinning Rod.
Great little spinning rod (can be used for drop shotting) Very well made , nice real cork handle, good reel fittings, cast very well, was a bit dubious about the S/S rings but they work fine with a small fixed spool and 8lb braid. Already had a small pike on this and the feel was great. This is a must have rod for the lure fisherman at silly money.

Great quality on a budget
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Very good quality UL rod on budget. The Shakespear brand always makes quality long lasting material and this rod doesn’t disappoint. If you are looking for the most flexible and bendable UL rod out there this micro series is the one. At 7”6” feet this rod bends on a rock bass like if you have a massive musky on your line. Maybe a bit too flexible for my taste though. It came in a large box, very well protected. It is the first time they ship a rod with a large piece of cardboard glued around the end tip to protect it from breaking. Unfortunately I had to return because the rod came in 1 month late and I bought another one instead. Still, this rod is unbeatable for it’s price. You just need to take extra care of it because of the fine tip that is easily breakable.
