Awesome, most incredible tool !!! (see the tri-pod notes!)
Awesome and incredible tool. (See the tri-pod note later in this review) I have worked in construction for over 40 years and I don't know how I made it without this tool. The lasers are bright and very easily seen, even in a brightly lit rooms of over 28' widths. The self leveling system is spot on, every single time I set it up. I would give this product ten stars if I could. It is worth every penny I paid and worth ten times what any of the Alton or Johnson consumer grade levels on Amazon are worth. I tried both Alton and Johnson, they were total junk. I wasted more time trying to get one that worked, that the extra I spent on this Hammerhead level. My time is still worth something! I would also like to mention that the Hammerhead fits on a standard photographic tri-pod with a 1/4" x 20 TPI stud. Both the other levels I bought, needed a special 5/8" x 11 TPI stud and an adapter costs more than a tri-pod!

Good for the price.
So initially I was real annoyed at this thing as out of the box it was 1/8" off over 8' as compared to my Stabila level. But on and off a few times (switch locks the bubble) and it became perfect and has worked flawlessly for 3 weeks of cabinets in 3 rooms. I have a very good old pro grade manually levelling rotating level but it is lost in storage post move and inside I'll probably never use it again. 4 stars only due to the weird first use issue which means I will never totally trust it and always verify with a good level. To nitpick it isn't the brightest, fine in average daylight but bright daylight or bright interior lights and it washes out by 10-12' radius, in average not direct daylight OK to 20' or more radius easily, 30' + in dimly lit room. The posts block many degrees of the windows so the dead spots are pretty big. Also annoying that I had to dig out my HD outdoor tripod for the stupid 5/8-11 thread when this clearly isn't a commercial device and barely fits on a big pod. Would be much better with a 1/4-20 to use on a camera tripod. For the money simply incredible though. Really for the money 4.5 stars is more like it.

An extra hand when you need it
Super easy to use and set up. The standard tripod screw on the bottom allowed me to use a camera plate and the existing mounts I have for my camera. A good, stable tripod will makes this an excellent tool. Frees you up from having manipulate, read, and mark with a standard level. The laser levels out quickly and can tolerate a fairly large tilt. It's easy to tell when it's exceeded its parameters and requires adjustment. You will want to have it mounted to something fairly stable. Any minor jostling will have the laser constantly seeking level (wobble).I would knock it half a star on accuracy simply because, like all laser levels, the laser line itself has a thickness that varies over distance. That being said, the laser is bright, worked in nearly any indoor lighting situation with full sunlight in some cases. Have not utilized it outdoors in the sun though. With the full 360 degree coverage, there aren't many other options that wouldn't require multiple setups.

LITERALLY WORKED ONCE!!! hasn't turned on since. What gives?
I received this product through Amazon Prime because I needed it this weekend. It arrived on time in a pristine box. I opened the box and read the 4 or 5 pages of directions that it comes with. Installed the batteries and tested it out. It turned on and put a bright laser beam 360 degrees with a cross beam vertically on the wall. I ran it through its modes and then turned it off. I placed it in the bag until today. I went to go get it out and get a quick measurement outside before the sunset for some retaining walls that we are digging TOMORROW! I took it outside, got my tripod setup, placed the laser level on the tripod, flipped it on and nothing. It didn't turn on, so i turned flipped it to the off position and turned back to the on position and still nothing. I figured it was just the cheap batteries that it came with so I ran to town and bought some new batteries. Put in the new batteries and it still didn't turn on. I NEED THIS TOOL FOR A JOB TOMORROW. It worked when I opened the box, I placed it neatly and gently back in its carry bag and placed it back in its box and it hasn't moved since the day I got it. What is wrong with this tool? every laser level locally is $400 or more which is far more than I can purchase right now. Hammerhead was supposed to be high quality products at working man prices. I am in the process of returning this level and replacing it with a new one. Hammerhead gets one more chance and then I will be getting a refund for this product and taking my money to a different company. I understand that there are always hiccups in manufacturing and that sometimes quality control doesn't get everything, but this tool worked one time and hasn't worked since. I was depending on this tool to work for me this weekend and now I have to figure out another way to level all the stuff that needs leveled this weekend.

Worked well when it worked.
I have ended up with two defective lasers within the past two weeks. The first one failed on my second attempt to use it, the replacement was only partially functional after a couple uses. The first one I had was used twice. The first time, it worked well, perfectly as expected. The second time, it would not turn on per the directions, and I replaced the batteries to no avail. I returned this one for a replacement. The replacement again worked well a couple times, but will no longer project the vertical laser line, regardless of the setting chosen. The 360* function continued to work well. Because of the partial functionality though, I've returned it for a refund and will choose another brand. As a side note, the tripod mounting threads are 5/8-11, which is an older laser standard. A 1/4-20 adapter was difficult to find, but I was able to do so on another site.

Cost Effective Accuracy
Borrowed one of these from my neighbor, liked it so much I bought my own. I mount it on my old camera tripod which works awesome. It self levels, which makes it super easy to use. You cannot lock the Laser for drawing straight lines at an off-level angle, so know it's limits before buying. For the price, it's a great little device.
