Product Review: Fresh Roasted Coffee – Unroasted Indian Monsoon Malabar
Product Review: Fresh Roasted Coffee – Unroasted Indian Monsoon MalabarAs a home roaster who enjoys bold, low-acidity profiles, I was excited to try the Indian Monsoon Malabar beans—and they did not disappoint. These beans offer a unique roasting and drinking experience that stands apart from most origin coffees.Pros:• Unique Processing, Unique Flavor: The monsooning process gives these beans their characteristic earthy, mellow flavor with a slightly salty, woodsy undertone. Perfect for fans of aged or exotic profiles.• Low Acidity: If you’re sensitive to acidity or just prefer a smooth, full-bodied cup, this coffee excels. It has a creamy mouthfeel and deep richness that works beautifully in espresso and dark roasts.• Roasting Tolerance: These beans are forgiving in medium to dark roasts. They don’t go through first crack the same way as other beans, so it takes some attention—but the result is worth it.• Fresh and Clean: The beans arrived green and well-packaged, with minimal defects. The quality is on par with other premium specialty suppliers.Cons:• Not for Light Roast Fans: This origin doesn’t shine as a light roast. The flavor is too flat unless you roast darker to bring out its syrupy body and spice.• Unusual Appearance: New roasters might think the beans look odd—pale and bloated due to the monsooning process—but this is normal for this type.• Moisture Content Variability: These beans can retain more moisture than others, which might affect roast times and consistency if you’re not used to them.Overall Rating: 4.6/5If you’re looking to expand your roasting palette with something truly distinctive, Indian Monsoon Malabar is an excellent choice. It’s not your everyday coffee—but in the best way possible.

Low Grade Coffee
I would rather write a dozen 5 star reviews than a single 1 star review.Fresh Roasted Coffee LLCCOLUMBIAN SUPREMOThis is not Columbian Supremo. This is too easy to verify.Supremo and Excelso are sizes of beans.Supremo is the largest bean size at 6.75mm or larger. That’s 17/64 of an inch.Excelso is slightly smaller starting at 5.5 mm or 7/32 of an inch. These coffee beans were too small to be graded, ranging in size from 1-5 mm with many broken and deformed beans. .Uneven bean size translates into an uneven roast.I asked a friend and mentor with over forty years of roasting experience what he thought of these beans. He thought that they were a low comercial grade bean.Foot note: I also purchased the decaf sample pack. The Mexican decaf was of such low quality that I lack the words to describe it. It had more broken beans than whole beans. At least one quarter of the beans were just chips. There was even coffee dust if that was even possible. If you’ve ever roasted decaf in a fluid bed roaster, you know there’s no chaff. I had to empty the chaff basket after that roast. It wasn’t chaff. For a company to have as many good reviews as they do, they had to have been good. It’s disturbing that they could have gone from that to this.I am sorry that I had to write a negative review.I will NEVER buy from Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC again. I suggest that you don’t either.

Fantastic Yirgecheffe! Best Amazon Coffee Order to date!
We have ordered several Lavassa green coffees and have been reasonably satisfied given the price point. However, where Yirgacheffe is concerned, they don't even come close to the FRC green coffee!I'm surprised the reviews for the other varietals offered by FRC are all mixed together in one review pool. I've only found one other review for Yirge. After having gone through a LOT of different green Yirgees from different distributors, this is the second best I've ever had and it is by far the most affordable! Or at least it was... it appears to have fallen off the Amazon Prime lists since I ordered it and received it... It was the equivalent of $6 per pound. They advertise the beans as Grade 2. I'm not sure what the limit is on quakers in grade 2. In roasting two cups of beans I found maybe 7 or so beans to reject before roasting (bug damage, discoloration or under ripe). After roasting them I probably found 10-12 quakers. That seems a bit high for Grade 2 to my inexperienced self, but that was far fewer than other "good quality" Yirgees I've roasted, especially Lavassa. We like our roast a light as possible while still achieving full bean flavor. 1:20 after first crack has yielded marvelous results with this bean! I've only roasted one Yirge that was better. Floral and citrusy notes abound. The Lavassa Yirge we had to roast quite a bit more just to get any flavor out of it, and we were never happy with the result. So this was cheaper, better quality beans and a much livelier and enjoyable cup than Lavassa.Thank you (ironically named) Fresh Roasted Coffee for such wonderful unroasted coffee! Hopefully by the time we're out, this will be back on Prime at the lower price point. Even if it wasn't (depending on price) I certainly consider ordering it again anyway.

Amazing flavor
These coffee beans taste great when u roast them. Not only that but they smell insane when u put them in a container to degas. They have a milk chocolate flavor to them with a hint of roasted almond. 10/10 recommend them if u like milk chocolate. I don't think I can ever go back to pre-roasted coffee from now on.

Great Price, Great for Home Roasting
I became a home barista a few months ago and purchased my roaster, grinder and everything else needed to start the journey on Amazon. I always buy the unroasted Brazilian beans and I’ve always had great success with the roasting, grinding and brewing process. It’s great tasting coffee and I highly recommend it for home roasting.
