I have seen bricks that'll turn you white
I've been a tremendous Ghostbusters nut since the first movie was released. I've also liked Lego just as long if not longer. As a kid, I made my own half-assed attempts at combining the two, but never once dreamed there would one day be an official set. Thanks to the success of Lego Star Wars, and the fantastic Lego Ideas program, sets such as this can be produced. The set is excellent. The build is interesting, never boring. The way the car's roof and windows come together is clever, and allows the minifigs to go for a ride. I'm very glad that the Ghostbusters symbols are printed on, not stickers. Proportions of the completed car are spot on.The Ghostbusters minifigs are very well done but a bit lacking in detail. My only big annoyance is that the symbol on their shoulder is missing, and some leg printing or black boots would have been nice. The shade of khaki is also a touch too light for my taste. Each head is printed on both sides, one stern face and one horrified face. Winston has his 'stache. The gear is also a bit weak. The trap is the only element of the set which outright stinks, there is no PKE meter, and the packs could be a little better. Granted, new molds would really be needed to do these things justice. I do like the overall simplicity of the figures and their gear, they seem to look as they would have had this set been released in 1984 or 1985, skin tones aside.I am absolutely thrilled to have this set. Hoping for some followup sets, maybe the basement with Containment Unit or the Temple of Gozer. Bring on the firehouse!

Perfect for your Lego collection!
Great build, lots of fun, and looks great. Well worth the price. The attention to detail has always been Lego's strongest feature, but wow in this set, it's extremely impressive. The minifigs for example, are all different featuring the characters' initials on the body. Oh and their proton packs, are truely impressive. They recreate the look from the movies while being functional. By functional, I mean they attach to the minifig backs, and their hands can hold/pose the gun. I also enjoyed the bits of quotes and behind the scenes information featured within the instruction booklet. Best of all, despite it's detailed look, you'd expect it to be quite fragile, but it's surprisingly solid, so one can safety put it on display and pose the set in various positions. I must stress too, that even though it is Lego, the set is definitely intended for display rather than play purposes. Building-wise another convenient part of the set is that there are no stickers. The decals are already painted on the pieces, so you don't have to worry about properly aligning and applying them!

"Toy" povides quality-time, great memories and satisfies as fan collection item
Purchased within a few days of this being available at Amazon. My 5 year old son and I are big Ghostbuster fans AND he's into LEGOs right now, so this was a perfect fit. The day it arrived we spent that evening together building ECTO-1. We stared late, and I knew it would take us a few hours. We stayed up a little past his bed time. He was yawning towards the end, but excitement for the build completion kept us both going. Smiles and cheering all around when we finally completed it. It comes with a few spare parts. I double checked that we missed something, but we didn't. Oddly, it was missing a couple, maybe one, of the yellow pieces for the roof rack. We used the extra green and black pieces of the same type to complete the build. Despite the missing piece(s), we consider it completed. For the missing pieces, I'd take a 1/2 a star off and rate at 4.5, but it seems I can't rate in 1/2 stars. We loved the build and it still brings a smile to both of us, so 5 stars. This level of build I thought might be too complex for a 5 year old. With very little assistance from me, we got through it just fine. I like that the build instructions comes with a list of all the parts used and the part numbers. Since this is being used as a toy and not a model on the shelf, a few parts have already gone missing, which are the parts we didn't have extras for, of course. So, should the day come I want to restore it in all its glory, I'll have the parts list and can (hopefully) buy just the missing parts. These themed kits are a great way to bring parents and kids together where they get to enjoy the build with dad/mom/older-sibling/whoever and have a post-build play toy and dad/mom/... gets to fill a bit of their fan-dom craving (Ghostbusters for me in this case) and get some quality-time with their little one. Enjoy!

This is the best Lego set I've ever put together
This is the best Lego set I've ever put together. For me, most of the appeal with Legos are putting it together. Once complete, I play with models sometimes, but they mostly sit on my shelf. The Ghostbusters Ecto-1 was not only fun to build, but I CANT STOP LOOKING AT IT! It's beautiful. I think the Lego Engineers really out did themselves this time. I would have gladly paid $100 for this.As a comparison, I was really excited for the Lego Deloren from Back to the Future, but it fell short. The finished design was clumsy, and too boxy. (Even for a lego fan knowing that legos tend to be more boxy, lol) But the Ecto-1 is elegant, and has excellent curves. The overall attention to detail is high and at a level I've rarely seen from other models.NO ONE STEPS ON A LEGO CHURCH IN MY TOWN!Any Ghostbusters aficionado really should have this as apart of their collection.
