Sauder Beginnings 3-Shelf Bookcase, Bookshelf with Adjustable Storage Shelves, in Med Wood Finish

I took so long to actually buy this product (and to be honest I actually ordered it from another site first, then the price went down here so I bought 2 more from Amazon!) because of mixed reviews here and on other sites. I've had other products from Sauder in the past and I've never been disappointed, but some products have been a little better than others. This is one of the best, and for the price ($30 at the time when I bought 2 of these), it simply can't be beat.Pros:1) Nice, dark wood color. I'm sure the other colors are good too, but I ordered the Cinnamon Cherry). It looks great!2) Easy to put together - alone, it took me about 10 minutes total from unboxing to starting to put items onto it.3) To go along with #2 above, this piece uses regular screws and NOT hex screws where you have to break your fingers trying to turn that little crappy key everyone gives you. I love that.4) It's solid - although not actual pieces of wood per se, it's built well and not cheaply. Built to last, heavy but not overly so.Cons:1) The top piece doesn't have the wood grain on both sides like the shelves do. The expectation is that it's a 3-shelf unit so they don't think people would see it, but I have these on top of a credenza to organize things at my very large desk and I can see them. Just would have been nice to have one more layer of the pattern on that piece.2) This is being super picky, I know, but it would be nice if the screw covers (that match the wood grain) were the plug-in plastic kind instead of the stickers. I just prefer the plastic ones but this really isn't a big deal.As I bought 2 more after seeing how good the first one was, obviously I recommend this if you are looking for a quality yet inexpensive bookshelf.-D

Yes as other reviews mention, these are cheap. Well I agree they aren't top quality, but they aren't top price either, they are as expected. They are they only reasonably priced shelves I could find. I purchased four. I built them all quickly, about 10 minutes per set. The directions are fine. Whoever is talking about screws poking through didn't build them right. They are basic and easy to figure out. I lined them up together and have a lovely little set up for my office/homeschool classroom for a price I could afford. I won't overload them or climb on them etc and I'm sure they will be fine for years to come. I might also add they are a great size and depth. I am very happy. My only disappointment was the finish. It's a paper type laminate and it is mighty thin. But again, they were cheap.

I'm impressed! Everything about this bookcase is just too good-Shipped promptly-The packaging was perfect. It had glues seals on the box so nothing could happen to it on the way here, and had individual scratch protects in between all the shelves. Screws and nails were also in a strong little bag-Very easy setup.-Amazing quality control. My shelves had no scratches, scruffs, or weird marks. They were all very clean and looked great-The shelf looks gorgeous. Even the back cover, which is normally a cheap cardboard type of thing, is somewhat of a slightly better material that folds properly so it doesn't give off that cheap creasy look that other shelves do.-The shelves are adjustable, so you can move them to whatever sizes you may need (Very valuable trait. Other Bookcases are too limiting because you can't move their shelves and are stuck with inconvenient sizes sometimes).-This thing is actually pretty big. I found it to be among the biggest in its price range.-It's sturdy once you get all the screws in tight. Really doesn't wobble unless you're putting a lot of force on it.And most importantly, it's just so cheap. For nearly $40, this bookcase has everything; it is amazing. Sauder and the seller did an impeccable job, good work.

Easy to install by myself. As of right now seems pretty durable.There were reviews that the shelves fall out easily. I personally find it pretty snug and the shelves fit snuggly. This could change once there’s weight in it.Originally got frustrated as they changed the predicted arrival date. But it ended up arriving when it was advertised on the order page.

Size, colour, and sturdiness of the shelf is worth the money. I bought it to be used as a bookshelf. I am happy with my purchase, and I would recommend it.

It was 2 or 3 days late in arriving which was frustrating since then everything on the shelf was on the floor or in the way on my desk.It's reasonably sturdy. It's certainly not heirloom quality but it's also not heirloom quality price. The back disappointed me in that it's a piece of wood grain coloured cardboard. I was expecting a something a bit sturdier such as a piece of thin woodgrain particleboard much like Ikea furniture.Speaking of Ikea this was not like my experience with that brand of flatpack. It took longer than expected to put together because the holes you screw into were harder to work with if you're solely using hand tools instead of power tools like I was.Overall I am decently pleased. I don't expect it to fall apart tomorrow and it does the trick.
