Classic Themes by the Masters: The Bastien Older Beginner Piano Library

Fun and shortened and easier versions of songs we all recognize.

I have all my older beginning students (adults and teens) buy this book to supplement their lesson books. It has a great variety of songs, a few of which they can start learning after just a month of taking lessons. These songs have actually been simplified from their original version, unlike Bastien's collection of Easy piano classics, which are unaltered pieces. The pieces in this book are easier to play and tend to follow the typical first chord progressions that beginning students learn, etc. Overall, a great repertoire book for beginning students.

This is such a good book if you want to start into classics. Highly recommend for beginners looking to get familiar with timeless pieces.

I purchased this for my 4 year old. He loves to play piano. He is hooked to the TV show Little Einsteins. He will ask me to play songs introduced in each episode of the show. While the actual pieces are very long and hard for a 4 year old's skill level, this books gives the highlight of each piece, which a beginner can play. This book introduces over 25 composers to the little one. While the book is recommended for adult beginner, if your child is into classical music this is great for a child as well. Item arrived on time in excellent condition. Price was slightly cheaper in Amazon compared to other vendors.

I used this book as a child learning piano and I use it for all my students. I love teaching from it because it introduces them to classic pieces they may have heard before. The tunes are recognizable but are at a level they can play. Highly recommend it for teachers and students!

Very reasonable arrangements of a comprehensive list of famous melodies. It is *not* ring bound, unlike some other volumes from this publisher, which is a little disappointing. Great value for the money, though....a useful reference for gigs, too.

Easy book for beginners

Love this book, especially because I am intermediate and can actually play sounding like an advanced player.

As a piano teacher of 14 years, this is one of my go-to books for teaching great and recognizable classical music to late beginner students (at least 2 years of lessons before introducing this book in my opinion), as most of the pieces in this book at their original levels of difficulty won't be studied until the advanced years. Great choices of pieces and arrangements are fantastic.
