Orange Crush 20 20W 8" 2-Channel Guitar Amplifier and Speaker Combo, Orange

I'm not a musician. I build and sell pro-grade cigar box guitars at festivals and markets. Since I'm often placed where it is loud I realized I needed to upgrade my Orange Crush 12, which has good sound and has been a durable workhorse. I just needed something highly portable with a bit more punch, and it made perfect sense to just get the Crush 20. Compared to the Crush 12 there is definitely more punch and bite. The range is a bit wider and there is more volume for the bass to cut through the ambient noise I usually experience. It's a nice feature that that this particular amp has a dedicated dirty channel with separate gain control that generates a decent vintage fuzz that many players would be happy with, but to be honest I really don't use it as I get better crunch and saturation by running my own foot pedals through the clean channel. For me the selling point was the warm clean tone and extra overhead the extra wattage provides, and it will properly chug with the right effects on your pedalboard. Power draw is a big concern for me as I am often running off of a power bank, and the power requirements are low enough to last all day with it turned on the entire time and lights running from the same bank. Speaking of power, there was one minor issue with this particular amp - one of the metal tab connectors to the plug socket on the back of the amp was loose. This was easily fixed with a phillips screwdriver to open the case and pushing the loose connector until it clicked and locked into place. It's entirely possible it slipped by QC at the factory and came loose during shipping, and I certainly don't think it's representative of this amp in general. It's been rock solid ever since so I'm not going to dock my rating. Other than that on loose tab that was easily fixed, I am happy with this amp and it is fit for purpose. It's a great little practice amp for home use and booth demos in noisy places.

Bought this for the hubby so I will let him take it from here: I will preface that i have played through many amps, but this was the first orange ive owned... I have been playing this amp for a few months now. It is spectacular. I wanted a small amp to practice with, but with enough punch and volume to be used when playing at my church (its a modest size place not big not small). What I noticed the first time was the TONE of this thing! Just awesome. You can really shape your sound with it. The high and low tones are great, but I want to mention the mid specifically. Many amps that I have played through have terrible mid range tone and I end up having to back it off. Not with this amp! The mid sounds amazing and really brought out a crisp full sound through my guitar (I play through an epi les paul custom right now). It was seriously like i was playing a new guitar. The distortion has a wide range and you can get everything from a little grit to solid crunch to metal-grade screams. Overall the amp has a very rich, deep, crisp British tone. Definitely deeper than what i would have expected from one this size. It also takes pedals very well and you can shape your pedals with it easily. Ok now the volume. It is LOUD for a small amp. My wife came in shouting at me the first time I turned it up, and it was only halfway turned! It cranks. I use it at church, and even though it does get mic'd for the house, it definitely is not necessary. This little guy can fill out the room on its own. My other guitar player goes through a line 6 twin combo and my amp definitely can compete volumewise. Tone wise theres no contest. Orange all the way. My only wish for this amp is that it had a built in reverb and a direct out, so that's why i could only give it 4 stars for versatility. If this had both it would be my perfect amp. I have pedals for that though so not a huge deal for me. Its just 2 channels, and they can be controlled separately. It also has a footswitch input which is great. It'll take any standard footswitch so don't worry about having to buy an orange brand if you dont want to. I use a fender switch with it and it works fine. If you want frills, gadgets, gizmos, built in this and that, etc., this amp is not for you. Orange keeps it simple because they dont need any other selling points. They do 2 things extremely well, tone and volume. In my opinion thats what an amp is for. I am an Orange convert for sure. I don't want to use anything else!

I bought this amp for my son, who is learning to play guitar. I am a musician and a recording engineer, so I know a good amount about gear. In my experience, this is the best practice-sized / beginner amp out there. Even though it's a solid state amp with a small speaker, it sounds great! Clear, crisp clean tones that sound really nice with a strat. Fun distortion that brings that "garage" tone to power chords. Decent reverb that has a sort of "surf" vibe when turned up. Plenty loud for indoor jamming, and I'd be comfortable playing small gigs with it, especially if it were mic'd up. I like that my son can use the headphone jack and save the rest of us from going insane while he learns to play D correctly. The only thing I don't like is the tuner, which doesn't work very well. It will get you close, but it's not as accurate as most tuning pedals. I've found this to be the case for most "onboard" tuners however, so it seems to just be the way things are. Not a big deal. Overall, a perfectly respectable amp at a killer price, backed by the Orange name, which adds some credibility. Of course, it's not a high end Orange product, but it sounds more like one than it should for the price. Certainly better than any similarly priced offerings from other companies.

1st, this is a GORGEOUS amplifier. When I opened the box I was shocked by the aesthetic quality of the amp. 2nd, with a auxiliary input jack for play along ability and headphone jack, quiet practice is possible. The 4x12 Cab emulation through the headphone jack is amazing. You get a “Big, Full” sound through your headphones. The amp is easily capable of dirty, Bluesy tones, and extreme high gain metal sounds. You decide, it’s very adjustable. Gain is adjustable, rather than an all or nothing, OD switch as other amps have it. Amp has 2 channels, clean and dirty. The Cleans are warm and incredible as well! That was a surprise. This amp has wonderful tone. I don’t think there is a better, more versatile amp at this price point. I didn’t want to pay for effects. I wanted a plug in and go solid state with minimal traits and great quality for practice. That’s what this is! Pay a bit more and don’t bother with the 10 watt beginners trashy Amps that are available. Spend just a bit more and stay happy and satisfied. Your beginner will keep playing if it sounds good. THIS IS A GREAT AMP

I purchased this 3 months ago from writing this review, that's also when I started learning guitar. Keep that in mind. This amp is perfect for your bedroom. I have it tucked under my desk, out of the way. The amp itself is well constructed, but not too heavy. The sound is beautiful, and after learning how to dial in the settings, I can go from metal to twinkle and everything inbetween. It can get really loud when you dime it, so if you take it out somewhere and need some volume it'll project pretty well (my vol is legit at 8 o'clock). It has no frills, the RT version has Reverb and a Tuner for $80~ more, in which I have no regret about. I spent that extra $80 on some pedals. In conclusion it's a great amp that won't need replacing for a long time. However, make sure you research before you pull the trigger to make sure it's right for you. This is a BASIC amp that SOUNDS extremely good. There's a lot of amps that have crazy features like the Spark that helps you learn, or Boss Katana Mini with bluetooth, or maybe you like the look of Marshalls. Make sure it's right for you, this one was right for me because all I wanted out of it was a good sound, sub $200, bedroom friendly. Extra stuff was of no importance to me. My only complaint is that the on/off switch is in the back. I have it tucked away under my desk with a dust cover over it and wish I didn't have to move it just to turn it off and on.

I love this little amp. Sound is great for a small amp. My only problem is that I order at in orange color, but received a black one. I can live with it. The tone is not fender or true British. Still a great tone, using single or humbuckers pickups.

Orange Crush 20 20W 8-in 2-Channel Guitar Amplifier and Speaker Combo April 20, 2026 I bought this amplifier in Dec 2021 for my wife, Mrs. Cool. It’s been a great practice amp since then. I have a mix of 15 amps including tube heads and solid-state combo amplifiers. I test and play each unit without pedals to see what the amp actually does. I rotate using the amps and guitars I have and was revisiting this amp and decided I should review it. This amp has few frills but doesn’t need them. In the 20W range, it’s the loudest and most enjoyable to play of the amplifiers I have had the pleasure of using in this price range. This amplifier has shown its reliability over the 4+ years we’ve had it and it has never caused any problems. I paid $179 for it then and the price is still the same years later. Hard to believe, but there it is. Rather than extol all the virtues that hundreds of people have already listed, I’m giving it 5 stars for price/performance and reliability. See pic. I recently did a full review of a Monoprice 40w 10-in Guitar amplifier. I go into detail about Line and Power outputs and reasons not to modify amps like these. When it’s posted, you may want to give it a read. The guitar in the picture is a Squire ‘Paranormal Troublemaker’ and has Telecaster, Les Paul and Stratocaster features with split coils. I paid Fender $300 for it new on sale and it’s a decent guitar and looks wonderful. I don’t think they made many of these but if you come across one, grab it. Most people buy Orange Crush for the dirty channel, but I’m in love with the clean tones I get out of this with my strat and tele. It’s simple. Not too many knobs and doo-dads. No menus or digital interfaces. Just an old fashioned amp that sounds awesome. It also works well with my pedals. I have no complaints. They could charge double and it would still be worth it. I’ll keep this forever. (But I might buy a bigger one some day…)

This is fun. Though could have used a bigger speaker. Sounds ok at very low volume. But it’s kind of a novelty item so I forgive it somewhat.

I have been a hobby guitarist for a long time. Having gone through 2 fender and a peavey amp which were both tube amps. This small portable amp has great sound. Is very usable with effects pedals. It has both clean and gain channels. As I prefer to use effect pedals such as boss, danelectro, they produce a rich sound with more solid body guitars. Play with the tone settings to find a sound that works well with the instrument otherwise it can have a lot of treble sound. I have minimal feedback using humbucker pickups in my guitars, but once I get over 5 volume level, the sound does start to break up a bit. Which is a good thing. Makes blues sounds even better. I've never owned an orange amp before, but highly recommend this brand for quality and sound

Ovviamente non è un Orange valvolare (e si sente) però come ampli da studio è perfetto… uscita cuffie e uscita per il pedale (che non è compreso) la storia del pedale è utile in modo da provare per bene i pezzi… il suono è buono. A volte lo porto alle prove e devo dire che si fa sentire anche con una batteria vera in sottofondo… ottima scelta

Un excelente amplificador para ensayar, muy buen tamaño y excelente calidad de audio, el plug para auxiliar es muy util para reproducir una pista para practicar.
