Review: Seriously.. The best diet I have ever done. - I have been dieting since high school. You name it I have done it! weight watchers, atkins, south beach, jenny craig, keto, paleo and Whole 30. I always yo yo and struggle by the 2nd day. I always have a hard time committing to it and by the 5th day I end up doing 1/2 of it or find a way of incorporating it into my lifestyle but not committing to the entire thing. Now at age 47 I feel so relieved to have found something that I can do easily and something that's not so expensive. I am only on day 5 and I have lost 4lbs already. Which is huge for a female my age. The last diet I was on I lost 2lbs in the first week and gave up and gained back 5. Reasons I LOVE this diet so far: 1. he explains the method to his madness and makes complete sense. I was so scared about not working out because I usually work out hard! CrossFit and peloton in one day! Well, the lockdown made it easier for me to not do my crossfit. Everything he says about over doing it makes sense and so true. From personal experience I know this. 2. Wow! This diet doesn't break the bank! All those specialty items I would buy was always so expensive. Keto this, paleo that and bullet proof oil in my coffee was is enough to question your life choices during these hard times. You're eating healthy and not breaking the bank. Win, win. 3. by far super easy to do! I already read the entire book and even though I am starting phase two. I can tell all the recipes for the meals will be easy for me. If you're use to meal prepping this diet will be a breeze. I mean you throw everything in a blender and call it a day! How hard is that?! 4. I am never hungry and my sugar cravings have completely stopped. I was worried because I have done liquid diets before and they are tough to do. But these smoothies keep me soooooo full until the next meal. I make pizza for my kids and crave my smoothie instead. Its not hard to stay on this at all for me?? The snacks you are allowed to have in the first phase are the secret I think to staying committed. It being only 5 days until you start incorporating meals makes it easier as well. 5. The smoothies are SO good?! I never was a big smoothie lover. I never followed any recipes and always just did my own or followed some pinterest recipes but I usually drank them to save time or to try to add more protein in my diet via protein powder. His recipes are delicious! 6. My stomach issues and leaky gut have stopped? I was a big fan of elimination diets because I always thought that my stomach pains, issues came from legumes, dairy and grains. Well this diet kind of proves that wrong. My stomach seems to be fine so far. I'm thinking certain food combinations make a big difference of how you react to it. I'll have to do more research on that. So the only thing I had issues with this diet is the amount of dairy you have. I never ate yogurt or dairy. I mean... I was big into Paleo. So I love greek yogurt now and I drink non dairy milk instead. Which seems to be agreeing with me for some reason. I'll have to update this when I am in phase 3. I can honestly say that I am super excited about this diet! Or lifestyle change. My goal is to loose 20lbs. 4lbs down and 16 to go. Update 28 days after starting: So I am still on and havn't veered off except for a couple of days. I am down 7lbs. I have not been dilligent with the workouts so I am beyond happy loosing this much in a month considering my age(47) and being a female. Its tough the older I get. Really, the best thing about this lifestyle change is that I don't feel hungry and I don't feel like I am depriving myself. Still by far the easiest "diet" I have ever done. I am confident that I will reach my goal. 7 down, 13 to go! Review: The Kickstart I Was Looking For - I have recently finished this "reset", so I wanted to be sure to write a review. I was familiar with Harley's name in the world of celebrity fitness, but when I saw him on Revenge Body I was intrigued by his plan. I was already having one smoothie a day, so that seemed manageable enough. I had been working out several times a week at Orange Theory Fitness, and while I was toning up, I still had so much fat on top of my muscle, and my weight was at an uncomfortable number for me, so I wanted to do something to really shake it up. I read through tons of reviews, and it seemed like most of the negative ones were from people who hadn't even tried it, so I wanted to give it a shot. I am a stay at home mom, so I do have flexibility and making smoothies was no problem, but I could see how this might be challenging for someone on the go or working in an office. I am 39 years old and at 5'5" I weighed 141 when I started, so I am not way overweight, but definitely had 10-15 pounds to lose. I already had a pedometer that had been collecting dust for years, so I pulled that out. I was surprised by how little I was actually walking each day, but it became a challenge to myself to get more steps each day than the day before. I now walk usually a minimum of 12,000 steps, but often more. The first few days I felt hungry and a little grumpy, but I was losing weight quickly which seemed a fair tradeoff. Once the first five days were up and I could add a meal, I felt much better. I chose to eat breakfast, as that was when I was hungriest. I enjoyed the smoothies, as they were different than what I would normally make. I always add greens to my smoothies, so the white and red ones were a nice change. My 15 days ended two days ago, but I am continuing on with the plan because I feel great. Other than a headache on the first days which I am sure was from withdrawals, I have not had a headache, which is a huge improvement for me as I suffer from them on a regular basis, I think because of my sugar addiction. My energy also remains great throughout the day, whereas before I would get a a serious mid afternoon slump every single day. I honestly was feeling so run down and terrible on a daily basis that I was getting very frustrated, and in turn probably reaching for foods I should not have. I also normally have terrible PMS, where I feel like I have been hit by a bus for the few days before my period starts. Other than some mild moodiness, I have felt great this time around, which is such a relief considering my period comes every 24 days or so, so feeling terrible that often stinks! The walking aspect has been very relaxing. In the book Harley talks about people busting their butt for an hour at a work out class and then being sedentary all day, and how this really isn't doing our bodies any good, and this really resonated with me. I often have an all or nothing attitude about working out, like if it's not a super challenging sweat session than it's not worth it and I end up doing nothing instead, which is totally illogical. So the idea of incorporating something as easy as walking into my day seemed like such a relief. It's easy to lose motivation and not go to a workout class, it's not hard to stand up and walk around. I also had no problem doing the body weight exercises, although it did take me more like 13-15 minutes each session as I was doing the advanced recommendations of 3 circuits of 20. All in all, I would say this has been such a positive experience for me. I lost 6 pounds in the 15 days, and about 5.5 inches, and I was very happy with that. I felt like grocery shopping and meal planning was so much easier (and cheaper) without having to plan out what was for dinner each day. I feel very motivated to keep up with it and I would and have recommend this to anyone looking to get back on track. Thanks Harley!

The Kickstart I Was Looking For

A good "reset," but not to be used as a comprehensive tool
I needed a simple, clear cut method for getting my diet back on track after the holidays and this book delivered. The diet was reasonable and never left me hungry or feeling like I was denying myself. The smoothies are all delicious, the snacks are easy and the meal recipes simple to follow. The exercise advice was also very doable, I've found tremendous benefit from implementing his recommendation for walking 10,000 steps a day. And it really does get easier to incorporate all of his tips after you make a conscious effort to do so for the first 15 days. Where the book falls short is on its promises to help you lose weight quickly and it's (lack of) nutritional information. The diet would probably cause someone who is overweight to lose weight quickly, because cutting back dramatically on calorie intake would have dramatic results for those individuals. However, my calorie consumption was not too high to begin with, so I did not see the dramatic results that were promised. In the book, when Harley asks at the beginning of phase 2: "How many pounds have you lost? Three? Five?" My answer was two, Harley, two. I did lose weight...just not as much or as quickly as the book promises. Also, for someone who is not familiar with nutrition, this book does not go into detail about the why or the how of the diet. Mainly, it just discusses the benefits of fiber, protein and rotating between 3 different colors of smoothies. That's all fine and good, but I find it beneficial to have an understanding of the science behind why I'm eating this way. How else does one learn to make better decisions when it comes time to leave the book behind?

This works!
I was skeptical at first. I'm a petite woman that just turned 50 and had gained almost 10 pounds. I'm active, as I run and do Tae Bo at least 3 times / week. I used to be a trainer and Tae Bo Instructor, so I do know what I should be eating and working out. I have fallen off the wagon on weight lifting, but that's another story. I read the reviews from women that said they tried it and they were over 50 or menopausal and it didn't work. Well I'm here to say, that it absolutely works. So far I've lost 7 pounds and it's been so easy. The smoothies are so good and I'm never hungry and have more energy and less bloated. I've opted to stay on it and have 2 smoothies per day at least 3-4 days / week. My body fat has already dropped almost 1%. Even the evening smoothies, I turned into soups! I used veggies and protein powder as opposed to fruits and heated it! I intend to stay on it to hit my goal and then some. I highly recommend this book and you really need to read it and refer to it and follow it. I'm not a fan of greek yogurt in my smoothies, so it's nice that there are plenty of other options. I've gotten to really like the unsweetened vanilla almond milk and coconut milk, as well as of course fat free milk. Coconut water is great too and he mentions flavored water which I've experimented with too, which tastes great! Try it, you have everything to lose!!!

Lost motivation in week 2
So I bought The Body Reset Diet with high hopes. I followed religiously for days. The first 2 or 3 days were easy. By the end of the first 5 days I had to force the smoothies down. I was just so sick of smoothies. I stuck with it, moved on to the second 5 days. After 8 days total I had lost 6 lbs. Most of it was in the first few days. As I added meals, meals I took right out of the book, the weight loss slowed. I knew it wouldn't keep up, I mean I think losing 6 lbs in a week is pretty extreme as it is. Well by the 3rd week the weight loss had completely stopped. I was losing motivation. I'm pretty sure the initial weight loss is water weight. I mean talk about a low sodium diet. I follow a free online food calculator and I was under my suggested calories every day with this diet and my sodium was way below. One thing that was always high...sugar. While it's a natural sugar from fruits I think if you're diabetic maybe that would be bad. Start adding real food, taken from the book, and the levels start going up with sodium, calories, and fat. Sugar goes down a bit since you're not eating as many smoothies, but still pretty high. Adding extra walking helped. The exercises in the book were pretty easy. If you already work out it will be like doing nothing I think...especially if you're into cardio. Overall I would probably not recommend the book. I gave it 3 stars because I did lose weight. So I guess that means it works. I hated the smoothies after the first 5 days and some of the recipes for meals in the book when you can eat solid food are bland. He's definitely no chef. If you're strict like I was you will lose some weight. Can you maintain it? I don't think so. I gave up after the 15 days because I didn't want smoothies anymore...you're supposed to eat them once a day for life basically. Also don't plan on going out anywhere with your friends to eat...even to their house in the first days because you're not allowed to eat anything they would be eating. Kind of restricts your social life for 15 days.

Awesome Book & Easy to Follow Diet!
I'm 42 and have tried every diet out there (Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Low Carb/High Protein, Cabbage Soup, etc.) and nothing has worked to "jump start" my metabolism. I was killing myself at the gym and eating very little and I could never lose weight. Figured if Harley trained celebrities for so many years, he must know what he's talking about and he does-- THE DIET DOES WORK! I lost 9 pounds in my first month (not bad for a woman!) and I've lost another 5 pounds this last month even though I'm not following the program as strictly as before (I let myself have more cheat days and occasionally drink alcohol). . .and exercise hasn't been very intense! Just try to do the 10,000 steps per day that he recommends . .. Never thought smoothies would be filling and I thought there would be too much sugar with all the fruit I was consuming for myself to lose any weight . . . or I didn't think I could tolerate them in the wintertime . . . but they are great and tasty! I feel better for eating lighter . . I'm not hungry (yes, it might take a few days for your body to "detox" and get used to the new routine) . . . but they are super simple and convenient for office professionals like me who work a lot of hours and need something quick . . I make my breakfast and lunch smoothies in the morning and take them to work and store in the fridge. If I know I'm going to work late, I'll take an extra one to work for dinner . . . But besides the weight loss benefits, I enjoyed reading about Harley's eating/exercise life balance philosophy . . we all think we are supposed to go "hard core" at the gym and then starve ourselves but that isn't needed to lose weight . . . nice to hear a professional trainer admit that to us!! I've been needlessly killing myself at the gym for years without any good results! Thank you, Harely! I'm a believer!

Feeling Great and Losing Weight!
This book has helped me to rethink the way I eat and prepare food. I love to cook and I love to eat but after turning 40 I realized that the amount of calories I was intaking was catching up to me. I am 6'1 and weighed in at 220 when I started following the body reset plan. After 18 days I am down to 204 and feel amazing. My wife asked me to diet with her but I didn't want to starve all day long...I get hangry very easily. Eating 5 times a day on this plan keeps me from being overly focused on food and my energy level is consistent. The snacks are great pick-me-ups during the day! ****Understand that all of our bodies are different and you may need to tweak this plan to fit you. My wife has not lost as much weight as me but has figured out she needs to up her fitness routine more than the 10,000 steps advised in the book. With my occupation I am lucky to get 5,000 steps a-day but have continued to lose weight even adding the meals and cheat meals in phase II and III. (I know you ladies hate this about men, sorry) She has not moved to Phase II as she is still trying to get her weight down. But the best thing is how much energy we both have to chase our 2 toddlers around. My knees have stopped hurting, I'm less drowsy in the afternoon, I'm getting up earlier and doing more than I have in the past 5 years. Overall, great plan that will be a part of my families everyday life from now on.

I could do this for life!
Wow! Easy to follow, no tracking needed, extremely nutritious, NEVER hungry and motivated to go on for however long it takes to reach my goal weight. Pasternak has thought of everything. He has the ammunition to shoot down any excuse you may have had in the past. He uses everyday foods and a blender to produce delicious (chocolate shake is too good to be true!) and very filling smoothies which are the centerpiece of his plan. He introduces 5 minute exercise plans and only asks you to walk a certain amount everyday. He allows you to eat 5 times a day which completely eliminates any hunger and makes it easy to stick to his plan. After the 15 days, he allows you 2 "cheat" meals a week which gives you the freedom to go out and socialize without worrying about what you won't be able to eat. It keeps you sane and eliminates the feeling of deprivation. LOVE this book and the well thought out plan, recipes and exercise program. 12 pounds off in 5 weeks and going strong!
