Amazing read

Where do I begin with this review? So many thought are swirling around in my head after reading this book. I suppose my first thought is outrage that there was a concerted effort to ban certain books to prevent the Common People from having knowledge that was deemed by The Powers That Be to be counterintuitive to the Officially Sanctioned Knowledge. The Common People were thought to be too stupid to interpret certain books, too gullible to withstand the wayward teachings therein, and too uneducated to apply reasoned analysis. Well, there’s one thing the Common People have always had in abundance, and that’s Common Sense. I believe that thought censorship is wrong. Censorship of information is therefore wrong as well, with the noted exception of parents who must protect children from the harsh and perverted realities of life and ensure the accuracy and suitability of information. Parental censorship of books and other media that children are exposed to is not only acceptable—it is a parent’s moral duty to perform. The Council of Laodicea in 364 A.D. resulted in the suppression of forty-one texts and letters which the early Church Fathers decided should not be included in the Bible or read out in church. Among these was the Book of Enoch; yet Jewish historians had valued the Book of Enoch for thousands of years as Midrash literature—i.e., “extra-legal material of anecdotal or allegorical nature, designed either to clarify historical material, or to teach a moral point.” (Lumpkin) There is a plethora of information and stories in this book concerning the creation of everything, the structure of Heaven, the history of the human race, the introduction of evil, the natures and mandates of various classes of angels, and the REAL reason for the Flood of Noah, among others. For those uninitiated in the tales and rumors concerning Fallen Angels, this book details the reasons why certain of the angels abandoned their eternal life in Heaven and came to live amongst the humans, and describes the grotesque nature of their hybrid offspring—giants, elves, and monsters. These are the creatures that inspired Greek, Roman, Viking, Celtic, Saxon, Assyrian, Babylonian, Hebrew, Egyptian, Native American, Hindu, African, Japanese, Chinese, Aztec, and Mayan cultures to write about gods and goddesses, Titans, giants, cyclopses, Minotaurs, Grendels, Chimeras, Elves, dwarves, leprechauns, succubi, centaurs, hydras, dryads, gorgons, griffins, harpies, Cerberus, satyrs, sirens, sphinx, vampires, fauns, mermaids, kinnaras, echidnas, nure-onnas, ganeshas, karuras, narashimas, sobeks, thots, Valkyries, fenghuangs, fairies, amazimu, ogres, goblins… Fact or fantasy? As I always say, “There is no draconsfeura without a dragon,” and it is highly unlikely that every ancient culture around the world could share these myths in common unless we all had a shared origin and the same cultural experiences during our early life on Earth. This book by Joseph B. Lumpkin also includes fascinating information from the first and second Books of Adam and Eve, the Book of Giants, The War Scroll, the Book of Jasher, and the Book of Jubilees. It is interspersed throughout with helpful notes and explanations by the author, and while I do not agree with some his analyses/opinions, yet I highly recommend this resource to inquiring minds, and to Christians who want to know more about their religion.

I came to this book as a result of dissatisfaction in my faith and references to Enoch as I delve into ancient history. I am not completely through the book yet, but at this point it’s very depressing for me. You will not find your “four spiritual laws, get on your knees and ask Jesus to be your personal savior salvation” here. You Will find that there are many verses that everything is predestined, so you, Calvinists will be very happy. You will find hopelessness for sinners, God not listening to them, and even the angels and Him “rejoicing in their destruction”. There is an interesting passage which refers to the eternal existence of the souls of beasts of the Earth, and they will also take part judging sinners based on how said beasts were treated (vegans, you have a moral imperative here in your corner)! There is also reference to where the Elect will take part in judging the sinners, which, if I remember correctly, this is also in the main Christian Bible. The author intersperses his opinions and biblical verses to supplement, and or support the Enoch verses. I wish he would not reference the King James because it’s hard for me to read. That’s the bad parts as far as I can remember at this point. Other parts are it’s very interesting, how creation and calendar days came about ; detailed storehouses of wind, weather, lightning, and snow and seasons. Amusing verse where the large male ‘members’ of fallen angels, were appealing to the daughters of Adam, and they slept with them, and produced a different race (giants, Nephilum) which were expunged by the Noaic flood. That’s all for now, I will amend after I have finished and hopefully make it through.

Great read always good to expand your mind on new thinking and fresh information

I recommend this book. I have used a lot while doing bible study . A couple of my family members have purchased. Very detailed! It explains a lot and back ups the Bible.

A must-have if you're a Bible believer and interested in the true nature of the world -- from the Fallen Angels to Jesus the Son of Man, to the Flat Earth, The Books of Enoch are an incredible resource of truth. "And He answered and said to me, and I heard His voice: ‘Fear not, Enoch, thou righteous man and scribe of righteousness: approach hither and hear my voice. And go, say to the Watchers of heaven, who have sent thee to intercede for them: “You should intercede” for men, and not men for you: Wherefore have ye left the high, holy, and eternal heaven, and lain with women, and defiled yourselves with the daughters of men and taken to yourselves wives, and done like the children of earth, and begotten giants (as your) sons? And though ye were holy, spiritual, living the eternal life, you have defiled yourselves with the blood of women, and have begotten (children) with the blood of flesh, and, as the children of men, have lusted after flesh and blood as those also do who die 5 and perish. Therefore have I given them wives also that they might impregnate them, and beget children by them, that thus nothing might be wanting to them on earth. But you were formerly spiritual, living the eternal life, and immortal for all generations of the world. And therefore I have not appointed wives for you; for as for the spiritual ones of the heaven, in heaven is their dwelling. And now, the giants, who are produced from the spirits and flesh, shall be called evil spirits upon the earth, and on the earth shall be their dwelling. Evil spirits have proceeded from their bodies; because they are born from men and from the holy Watchers is their beginning and primal origin; they shall be evil spirits on earth, and evil spirits shall they be called. [As for the spirits of heaven, in heaven shall be their dwelling, but as for the spirits of the earth which were born upon the earth, on the earth shall be their dwelling.] And the spirits of the giants afflict, oppress, destroy, attack, do battle, and work destruction on the earth, and cause trouble: they take no food, but nevertheless hunger and thirst, and cause offences. And these spirits shall rise up against the children of men and against the women, because they have proceeded from them."

Excellent read. I have only read the first Book of Enoch, but I do like the reference in italics to the scripture verse that parallels with verses in the Book of Enoch. I have really enjoyed reading this.
